This used to be my go-to weather app but two issues are making me look for a replacement. 1) The pull down with all the weather details keeps disappearing and doesn't come back unless I delete and reinstall the app. 2) The snow forecast is totally inaccurate. I've gotten at least a dozen notifications this winter that snow is going to start falling but they were not correct.
Reviews for MyRadar Weather Radar Pro
← Back to MyRadar Weather Radar ProI live near the Gulf of Mexico where the weather can change rapidly. EMS alerts alone aren't enough for me. Letting me know when rain or weather is approaching my current location is my favorite feature. I also like how I can have the map center in my location, which is useful when I've zoomed down to street level. The maps are vivid, layers are definable (including transparency); and I get notifications the way I want them, without annoying push notifications I don't need. Essential offshore!
Fairly good weather app, but it absolutely does NOT work with Android Auto. Which is why I bought it in the 1st place. UPDATE: Turns out you have to be a member of the beta program in order for Android Auto connectivity. I will update the rating after I've had a chance to check that later today. Update 6-10-24. Joined the beta program, and still doesn't show up on Android Auto.
In general I like the app a lot, enough to buy the pro version. But, after a recent update, it constantly pops up a notification re: a wildfire hot spot near me. I dismiss the notification and it reappears, repeatedly. The notification is wrong for many reasons: I'm in a large city. I checked the map to verify there's no wildfire or hot spot near me. I'd like to know about wildfires, but nuisance notifications don't help anyone. They only lead to users turning them off or tuning them out.
I've had this application since its inception. I paid for the pro version and I do not regret it. This is reliable information and a very sophisticated process of putting the three weather models together to form a generated pattern for not only storms but wind and any other layer you want to put on there. I signed up for the beta program as well! I look forward to being let in.
Also have noticed that the radar widget , though up to date, is different than the radar in the actual app.Graphic interface indicates 69% chance of rain for rest of day. Text forecast indicates 10% chance of rain. Paid for pro version ....expected more I guess.... Time to find a reliable app. Additionally, notifications are not accurate and typically reports temperatures that are not accurate to the actual current temperature even though it states it's up to date, data can be several hours old.
In the last few weeks to about a month the radar has become less and less accurate while at the same time taking the original 5 minutes to refresh to not taking 10. (There has been times where it's pouring rain but nothing is showing on the radar.) It's been slipping and I wish they would fix this issue since I paid for a good weather app and expect it to at least be timely and accurate.
I was excited when this app supported Android Auto integration, and since the recent update now it's only available when the vehicle is in park. Not stopped, park. Well, that functionality has been rendered pointless. I'm allowed to look at a map with road names and traffic while in motion, but a map showing precipitation is apparently a step too far. Now instead of using a hands-free interface, I'm picking up my handset again. Yep, much safer that way. Mobile use aside, it's a decent app
It seems pretty accurate overall, and the maps and information available is pretty great. My main issue is the lack of a manual sync. I have the ongoing temperature notification on so I can see the temperature with ease when outside of the app. The issue is that it is not always accurate. You have to go into the app to get it to sync with current info. Sometimes it checks automatically but this seems to be at random. Please add a way to refresh this manually or allow sync intervals to select.
I bought the professional radar pack (Within a Year) as well the hurricane pack (2 years ago) on the free version. With ads being completely annoying and distracting I could do without them. I assumed the purchases transfer over to the ad-free version. Otherwise, what's the point in having a restore purchases option on your app? Also, why do I have to pay for this again if I want to use it on my tablet under the same Google account? I've emailed twice already regarding this and no response.
Decent weather app. They should stop with the ridiculous price gouging, though. Even after you pay for the ad-free version, you still get subtle reminders that you haven't spent enough. Not what you would expect from a paid app. "Pay X amount to unlock this feature." Fix it and I'll adjust my rating. Until then, this is a good example of a greedy developer.
I've had a lot of weather apps that use so much memory that it takes them forever to load. MyRadar is pretty light, even running in the background. Assuming I have my phone's Location turned on, the app will text me, informing that moderate to heavy rain is likely within fifteen minutes, and it could be overwith in 45 minutes. It's creepily accurate. I paid for a couple of the extra features, and they've been worthwhile (though it's been so long i cant remember which). Im a fan.
I really liked the free app so I tried a free 3 day subscription to the per site radar imagery. I immediately decided I didn't really need the individual radar site images and immediately went to cancel my subscription, however, I was unable to get a refund of my annual subscription. So buyers beware of the 3 day free offer for the radar service, it didn't work for me and I'm out $15 now.
Without a doubt the best weather app I've ever used. I turned to MyRadar after Apple bought and shut down DarkSky, thinking there was no way any app could match DarkSky's hyper local forecasts. MyRadar actually far surpasses DarkSky, both in accuracy and in terms of its satellite maps. The customizability is absolutely incredible, the animation is gorgeous, and the information that you're given is extremely helpful. By far the best weather app on the market.
Overall, great! Perhaps the best radar out there. But forecast info is a tad clunky. And although I've been using it quite a while there are some things about the widget I still don't quite understand how to interpret. But I've landed on this for now after being a bit frustrated with some other weather apps. This seems to be stable and reliable.
Great weather app, I use it all the time both at home and at work as a commercial pilot. I've made several safety decisions based solely on this app's input, e.g. whether to start driving now or let a storm pass, or whether to take off with the planned route or ask for a new flight plan. Aviation add-on is useful too, saves me a lot of clicks I would otherwise have to navigate to see sigmets. Highly recommend.
Excellent Mapping, Radar, Forecast, and Details. This is my daily weather app. UPDATE 09/27/2025. Outstanding continued development. The MyRadar Weather Radar Pro app should be installed by all students of meteorology and pilots. I want only two more features. I wish for the forecasted rain/snow totals, and, the actual local rain/snow totals. Everyone who loves to learn about weather radar tracking and forecasting will find this app as the first app to use.
This is my go to info app to find quick weather conditions and forecasts. Only reason for the 4 stars instead of five is a little glitch when loading or reloading radar, sometimes it seems to get into a loop and keeps loading the last 15 min. segment. I have a work around that takes no time to correct it. Also I very rarely give the fifth star.
The forecast could be better in a few ways. 1. there should be a humidity section added to the 10 Day Glance and the Detailed 10 Day Forecast. Humidity plays a big part in how comfortable it is to be outside, especially in the summer. Even a relative comfort chart would be great. 2. both sections mentioned above have such vague times attached to them that it makes it hard to determine what time events and temperatures will happen. More accurate times should be added. Otherwise,a pretty good app!
This app. layout could use a little more work, such as bolder graphics with numerical demarcation to help those who have challenges reading graphs. I have an outdoor weather station and most of the time the "MyRadar" App. and my weather station are in fairly close agreement. I also love the frequency of updates ensuring accurate current forecasts. Very useful and informative!
