good app, works well so far, just wish I wasn't so censored in what I can talk about in text messages.. just talking basic substance pharmacology a lot of my messages are rejected.
Reviews for MySudo – Protect your identity
← Back to MySudo – Protect your identityThis app is so unbelievably BAD it's a scam that shouldn't be in store. i paid for a # that got > 30 spam calls within a couple of hours. I paid to change the # and the 2nd # was worse. I can't use my phone now. forwards all calls you can't turn it off or reroute them. GoogleVoice & othr free apps run circles around this buggy halfbaked joke & they don't sell you a spam #. Sucks that i gave this # to people! Many more issues too but can't fit them. Scam app!
Poor customer service. I got an update, after your update I was locked out. Just renewed my service after having it for a year. 30 plus emails, and I still can't get my account back. I understand that all the data is now gone, that's ok, just want back into my account to start over. At this point I'll take my money back, all $159 with tax. I'm payed in full untill Feb 24 2026. I've never worked so hard for so little.
If u need to transfer your account to another phone & something happens to it then you're screwed or have to buy another subscription other than that yeah . They should have another option if your breaks not qr scanner can't rate higher until fixed unfortunately.
I have always liked this app. it is awesome because you get so much for so little. love it! But I'm starting to have problems with it all the time. And now I'm locked out if it by the 4 digit pass code second step because apparently I forgot what it was but it's not the same code as any of my normally used codes so I guess I'm kind of screwed. if I reinstall it, won't I have to go from the backup I saved? but it will have the same lock code it has now and Ill just be going in circles.
This is just what I've been searching for. I wanted a way to have virtual phone numbers so I don't have to keep giving out my real number to every website for them to sell. MySudo gives you this, and there's virtually no privacy tradeoff. They literally did not ask me for any of my info or for any app permissions. Well, I guess they'll need microphone if I use it to make a call. Plus, they're subscription supported, so you're the customer, not the product.
Updated 7/1/23. It's been working ok for the past three months. I haven't had any issues that I can recall. Adding a star for that. It could use the following features: Archive old SMS. Export/import SMS. Mute incoming calls (instead of declining). Unified inbox/call view. Dedicated voicemail section. Looking forward to seeing this app and platform evolve!
The functionality of the app is phenominal, but it's limited in some disappointing ways. It's reliance on the Google Play Store for login/payments is a bummer, as many privacy-conscious users are distancing themselves from the Play Store/GSF. I've also encountered complications with a handful of other services, as some simply don't accept MySudo numbers or are incompatible (SMS-based notifications/2FA are borked). It could use a couple more Sudos included in the Pro tier for the price, as well.
Lots of bugs with emails not loading, very clunky search funtion, and you cannot transfer your accounts to a new phone on Android without uploading everything to google as a backup. Disappointingly slow development to better the app if there has been any at all? I regret paying for it anyways. Edit 6mo later to note no account transfer feature has been released and searching for keywords is the same nightmare it always has been. Don't pay for this!! Almost impossible to find a receipt I need.
The phone number feature as well as the generated card, do seldom work. Sometimes my phone will ring when I'm calling MySudo number, but the app does not display 'answer call' prompt, even though I'm inside the app. Credit card is just as bad. My purchases are being cancelled, due to the type of card I'm using. What gives? Very frustrating. On iOS the app is so much more responsive. But I guess you can't link MySudo iOS account with Android account.
Phone numbers are largely useless. The app works fine and the price is reasonable, but most websites and apps will flag the phone numbers you can get through this app as potentially fraudulent and won't let you use them, which limits the applications of mysudo a lot. I don't think this is mysudo's fault, you'll find this problem with all services like this. If you just want an alt number to give to people, then it's fine. But if you want to protect your identity online this won't help you.
Great app, work in progress on Android though. No virtual cards on Android. Also it only allows you to backup via Google drive nothing else. Also if you make and pay for an account on Android switching to iPhone is near impossible. Same vice versa. It needs a lot of features still to be built in and it seems like they are working on it but it's not there yet. Good service overall though. Just know it's not meant for Android, least not yet. Also accounts only accessible via Google play services.
This seems like a fantastic app. It seems very secure and being able to give people numbers and to get rid of a number if someone bad gets a hold of it is awesome. It seems a bit on the expensive side. You can use this app unlimited for free as long as the other people also have the app. Why does the iOS version have more features like credit card and being able to use it on a computer? When the features are equal between iOS and Android I will give it 5 stars.
Not sure if related to a recent update, but I suddenly have problems sending messages to other Sudo users that are online. It will show them typing to me, but just shows my messages as "sending..." for hours at a time, regardless of my network. Phone calls have also been spotty, and often auto hang-up when I try to answer. Finally, for a privacy focused app, there sure are a lot of dependencies on Google Play (payments & notifications)
I paid for the app. When I tried to move it to a different device, because of a trial limit I had expended, the app won't load. The issue is I paid for it on the second device. Clearly, since they don't use a cell number or email, they are fingerprinting by some other means. Perhaps IMEI or IMSI, which may be more privacy invasive than an email. Still locked out of what I paid for and I am dissatisfied. You would think it would be as easy as no longer blacklisting a device, but apparently not.
I paid for a phone number but it didn't appear, and support told me I didn't pay for it. My bank was charged. They gave me a "free" number, but I received an error message when trying to add it. I uninstalled the app to see if it would fix the issue, and am now unable to log back in. I need access to one of the emails for an expected shipment.
I really love the idea of this, I heard about it from The Privacy, Security, & OSINT Show. The problems I've noticed are that inbound texts and calls sometimes don't work. I'm also disappointed that Android is treated as an afterthought, with the iPhone version having features I was expecting and hoping to use, such as the ability to sync my account with my desktop. These features have been "coming soon" for so long, Half Life 3 might come out before they're released.
Often times when opening an email a popup shows "An Error Occurred. Unable to open email. Please try again later." this is most frustrating. After keyword searching an email, if you leave the screen and come back you must search for that email all over again instead of it picking up where you left off. You cannot print emails. You cannot block unwanted emails. Call quality is bad and calls disconnect.
It's the best, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. Texting is annoying. Even with the max plan I get errors. Support pretty responsive. Needs more work though. It'll do for now, but I will not renew if they don't update and fix bugs. Edit: a few bugs fixed. I have been trying for days to get a number in my area code and the closest available is a state away. These numbers get reused often which is just something you just deal with, but means a lot of scam callers. Trac+mint is your friend
Totally broken. The feature for this app is nice but it's never reliably worked in the several years I've used it. unfortunately, the numbers I've created are associated with accounts I can't lose access to so I'm stuck with this service. texting has always been sketchy. images often don't send. videos never send. many texts don't reach me. they sometimes push updates that completely break the app with no way to restore your messages. the latest 2.7 update did just that to me
