Reviews for NDI Camera: Easy Streaming

← Back to NDI Camera: Easy Streaming

My first experience with the app was awesome - easy to set up, worked flawlessly. I used it a lot with NDI Plugin in OBS. Then it stopped working. It shows up as a source, but just transmits black video (audio works) - not acceptable for an app costing 20$. Other NDI Sources including the same app on my old phone on the same network work fine. If you fix this, I'll rate 5 stars immediately. If you need more info for debugging, feel free to ask.

I'm loving the potential, but still needs some work. Yeah it's $20 but you can use it across multiple devices if they are logged into the same account and honestly you're not gonna find a functional camera for cheaper. It works well on my pixel 4a at 720 and 1080 but not 4k. I tried it on my old moto x4 and the preview window is rotated 90 degrees but it transmits fine. Again, no 4k. Delay is under 1/4 second especially if low latency mode is enabled. They just need to fix the bugs.

Great potential but I really wish NewTek would have tested this better before release. Feed transmits to Vmix fine, but camera monitor is just black on the phone (Samsung Galaxy S7). Price would be fair for a working app, but others seem to be having plenty of issues as well, so I'd suggest waiting little while for the bugs to hopefully be worked out before paying for this. UPDATE: Some issues appear to be resolved with the latest update.

Installed, set up and connects quickly to the studio. However, there doesn't seem to be an option for 60fps (is this intended?) and I am having problems with the sound. This is being used as a proof of concept for a wider nationwide ndi installation, so not the best start.

Like many others have reported - completely black screen on the phone. It does appear to be streaming the video signal, but without the preview on the phone it's very difficult to frame a remote shot - makes the app mostly worthless for it's intended purpose. Running Android 12 on a Pixel 5.

Used to work great on my old phone. Sense of grading to the Pixel 6 , the images isn't displayed on the phone so it's tough to align shots. However, the camera is still utilized and transmits properly, just a bit of a hiccup and setting up shots. Hopefully this will be addressed because otherwise very happy with the app.

UPDATE: The Jan. 14 update seems to have the app working agsin. I never got a response to my feedback but the app is great when it's working. Thanks for fixing it. Worked great for the first few days but has stopped working on my Samsung Galaxy S9+ since a Jan. 4 update. It crashes soon after opening. I've been submitting crash reports since Sunday morning with no response.

Already used this on an iPhone, a brilliant way to get a roving camera's video + audio into a computer wirelessly! All resolutions working fine on my Pixel 4a, and multi-device installation _does_ work, it just takes ~10mins for the Play Store to update on the other devices (same Google account). Latency is ~200ms, similar as the iPhone. Have used this app for livestreaming and as an 'overhead table camera' for games nights during pandemic lockdowns, and it's worth the high purchase price!

Purchased app to show my support, as I believe you guys will work hard to fix the bugs being reported. - App is pretty much lagless on my 5gh wifi. Image quality is good, but I guess it depends on each device's camera. - Please make it work across all devices. Not working correctly on my S8+ international version. Not showing any image on the device itself but the image looks good on OBS. Also, microphone doesn't work in the app. OBS shows audio is coming in from the device, but the sound is very low and sound choppy... at best. probably a codec thing? - Please add the ability to turn off screen in order to conserve battery life. - Let us adjust the intensity of the flash. As you should be aware. light is a critical component, being able to manage it should be a must. So let us adjust the flash on the device and maybe, if using the front camera, turn the screen white to simulate a flash? - I know it's not your department, but if you can make the app, work also via usb-c, I will tattoo the NDI logo somewhere on my body, lol. Once this gets fixed or implemented this will blow all similar apps out of the water. Thank you for your hard work.

When it worked, this app is a dynamite idea. Works great out of the box, easy to hook into any NDI setup Currently on my box I'm experiencing what is clearly a pretty global issue for others, app is showing fully black video on the phone (however, the data does show up on the receiving end correctly). Using a Samsung Galaxy s21. I'm a software engineer, reinstalled everything, cleared cache, restarted phone, nada. If it weren't for this, would be a five star since everything else is great

I have previously been able to use this app no problem on my Galaxy S22, but it has stopped working (literally) overnight thanks I think to an OS upgrade. It simply will not send data over the network (which has other NDI devices connected so I know it is not a network issue). Until the app is fixed to sort this incompatibility I'm afraid it's worse than useless to me.

i got two phone. The "black shark 5" works just fine but my another phone "Infinix X6871" has problem. The video from this phone is in wrong colour. Need to fix this one.

Works great on my Nokia and Motorola, but on my Pixel 8a it won't keep the screen on. The longest I can set the screen timeout is 30 minutes.

Well, rather begrudgingly it works OK on my Galaxy S7.... ...but the 'no-trial' is a really bad customer service. Why would I want to pay so much for an app without any opportunity to see if it meets my needs or even works? I took a gamble and it does at least work. The big problem with it from my point of view is that it isn't possible to control it remotely - despite NDI being capable of remote control. It would be really helpful if the controls on-screen were available on NDI Studio Monitor (at least). I am able to make use of it as it is but it could be so much better!

The app is very easy to use, but the usability suffers vastly. The ndi streaming part of it worked fine mostly, but there is no control over the camera. The frame rate is locked at 30fps, so in PAL regions it is unusable for any meaningful work unfortunately. It is not possible to set focus nor ISO to manual. I thing an app this expensive should do much better. Until they make 25 or 50 fps work, it is a huge waste of money for me.

Updated to 1.70 (NDI website states there's a v2.8!?) - there was a little UI overhaul, but this software is still pretty neglected for it's price: - Preview is still in the wrong aspect ratio on my Pixel 6 Pro, regardless of resolution - No 60fps option selectable in any resolution (Why?) - Zoom function w/o display of zoom level in percent, it's not clearly visible which camera is currently used (wide, std, tele) - Won't run in background

I've been using this app for about 2 years now and it has been mostly disappointing. When it works it is great! When it does not, there is little to no trouble shooting steps to get my phone to be recognized by the NDI app on my computer. I just have to close the program and hope it finds my device 'eventually.' I do not need anything fancy, but the unreliability of the app is what drives me to only give it 2 stars. The app has not been updated in a year.

The NDI part works perfectly, but the camera controls are very basic - just changing lens, exposure and turning flash on. Unfortunately there is no option to sync 50hz fluorescent light wiping/flicker, as there are on all my other third party camera apps. If your camera doesn't do this sync automatically, you're out of luck. As I planned to use this exclusively in my office with fluo lights I've just spent $9.99 on an app I will never use again. I can recommend it for different lighting though.

Ooof, you guys are killing me with this. As a concept, NDI is great. Love being able to beam video around my studio without wires. 10/10 prototype. But if I'm going to shell out $20, I want better than an app that locks itself to only one orientation of landscape; better than an app that only records/transmits in 30fps (seriously, is it the 2000s again??); better controls to change settings with a half-dozen values than a "click this button 4 times and wait for the lag to clear each time".

This app is pretty terrible on the Samsung S21 5G. It opens and all you get is a black screen. and that is all it transmits, a black screen. Completely useless. It is not a permissions issue I checked. I also made sure that there were no network issues and other NDI sources were working just fine. I put in for a refund, but the fact that the app does not do what it is supposed to do is apparently not grounds for a refund. They get one star because I could not give them anything less.
