Seems pretty good. Wish ads were an option instead of subscription. But, I find it almost hilarious that you guys think everyone interested will do it on a schedule. I put in the reminders because it forces you to in order to continue then disabled the notifications. The whole point of apps is that they're used at my convenience. It's why streaming services are quickly becoming more popular than cable/broadcast. Not saying no one will do it, but have an option for whenever.
Reviews for NeuroNation - Brain Training
← Back to NeuroNation - Brain TrainingIt's got potential but I came across several programming flaws and decided it was just more irritating than the time I might spend using the app. A case in point is where you are to choose the "Pink" box which is 4 but the number doesn't matter and everytime it will come back incorrect. It wants you apparently to touch the Red 2 instead. Others in this exercise work with a glitch here or there but that one is always wrong. There are others but that one was easy to use as an example.
Not a bug fan of the updated version. Where's the world games? Or the star game where you have to avoid the asteroid thingys? Or the color game with the trampolines? All my favorite ones have been taken away and you can't choose what games you want. Plus, the training exercises will have the same exercise 2 or 3 times in one session. Not digging it.... might have to cancel my subscription.
This app is great! I have a terrible working memory, and I can see it improving. It's also a great way to transition between working on one subject to another, like a palette cleanser. I wish there was an option to not see the "comparison to peer group" at the end of an exercise; I'm doing this for self improvement, not competition, and it can feel really bad when I score relatively poorly, even if it's a new high score for me. 10/2022 Update: comparison still there. Getting irritated.
It is not worth playing. Not enough time to complete problems. Otherwise, it is good. Need more time to practice & get better. Please give me 'skip' option when I'm stuck on a problem but don't force me to the next one. I'm okay with my round score being bad ... just want to actually get to finish the problems I'm struggling with. The challenge would be fun that way. This way it is so frustrating & makes me feel like i can't improve. This could be a 'special needs' feature, toggled in Settings
Enjoy the challenges to stimulate my brain. However, I didn't like every time I went to play every 1 of the challenge's given, it flash's an ad to sign up to the premium for either $15.99 a month, unless you sign up for a year for a discount. Sorry, but even though they give you the discount of $48. a year, which is $4.00 a month. STILL, IT TOO MUCH especially for us Seniors CITIZENS p Pp, (who BTW, are the 1's that are going 2B using an app like this.
I like this app because it has short exercises/training sessions to complete that are challenging yet easy enough. The difficulty increases as you progress thru the levels but checks in with you if it is increasing too fast. You can play a round or complete a whole training session in 10-15min. If you need to leave the session, it holds your place for next time. Another bonus, you can pick and choose what you want to do. App is designed very well.
Interesting experience. Only have 20 minutes or so. Can definitely feel my brain working and getting tired as I do the exercises. The English seems to be British, and as an American, this can be a little confusing. For example, on some word exercises, you are supposed to generate a word from a list of letters. On occasion, the word suggested was a letter not in the American lexicon. "Addy," for example. Not a phrase I have ever heard in conversation. Also, the English is obviously translated.
I've only been playing the games for about a week and already noticing large jumps in areas I thought I was strong and inclined in while also making slower progress in things I tend to struggle with. The games are not hard to learn but are very challenging if you're at a level in which you need to improve to pass. I love this app and will continue to use to train my brain to get better at many things I'm not great at.
This has been pretty good so far and I've noticed a difference in my mental processing speed, however, at least one of the puzzles (Solitaria) at Level 9 and onward either changes the rules without telling you / explaining the new rules or the system starts being wrong. A little frustrating. As others have mentioned, some puzzles will take the problem away from you after a *short* time and not tell you the correct answer, which feels quite unhelpful for learning how to do the puzzles properly.
NeuroNation is phenomenal. The exercises are challenging and motivating. They're well explained and your progress is measured and compared to your selected peer group. I'm in my early 50s and want to maintain and improve my mental sharpness and agility. I definitely recommend this app. An hour a week to train your brain? I spend that much time and then some scrolling pointless social media threads.
I clicked what I thought was the free button. It took me to a subscription page. Automatically my PayPal was there as a payment source. I changed it to credit card. I didn't enter any information because I didn't want this app if I had to pay. Automatically it switched to the test page. I cannot confirm if I'm in the trial mode and have to cancel in 7 days and I can't find any way to cancel this now. Companies count on you forget to cancel in 7 days and start the subscription charges.
I can definitely feel an increase in my brains activity when trying to process these problems. It's definitely a brain workout! . Update: they took away the deeper analysis and explanation of your strengths and weaknesses and just give you a word (Example: Memory 50%) and give you no insight into what you need to work on like they did before. So moving my review down to 4 stars.
Tried the free version and liked it so much I paid for the full. Even the free is awesome. They have a wide selection of games that train/ challenge you, yet instructions are clear enough that you can understand what to do. I notice an improvement every time I play, and ( unlike other games) I can play as often as I like. As a former educator I highly recommend.
I wish there were more training for the formula exercise (I've tried to look online how to pick 2/5 numbers to equal a negative number and no luck, so I just don't know how to do it), and my only other critique would how in the word exercises, sometimes the combination of letters can be different than the assigned word, so it's frustrating to have it tell me I'm wrong! other than that it's awesome to play games and expand my brain at the same time!! (vs solitaire & candy crush lol)
Oh wow. The audacity of some people. I expected to have to pay something, but after going through just a short bit of it, I could not believe what the asking prices were compared to what I had just experienced. It honestly felt like one of the ad 'games' that popup all the time in apps. Delayed input and stuttered scrolling were the top faults. At one point I thought it had completely frozen the phone up(note9).
Too much positive feedback... No matter how trash you are, the feedback is positive. For example "you were faster than 20% of other users!" which basically means you're in the bottom quarter 😆 Also when I have a much lower score than last time in a game, the app tells me afterwards what a great performance it was. No. Tell me it wasn't that great, let me know what I should work on! I'm also not a fan of all the bits moving around, uses a lot of time just looking at the puzzle pieces align...
I don't mind paying for an app once I know it is something worth my money. But being asked to buy premium when I haven't even tried the basic version is slightly annoying. And being asked to buy premium Everytime I open the app is a good way for me to not open it. Other than that, I can almost feel my brain "growing" when I go through the exercises. I like that you have recommendations to make it more challenging or stay where I'm comfortable. Small text but doesn't change completion rate. 👍
Ive been struggling with cognitive function and general mental health for a while. I decided to take control back and download a plethora of brain-training games. Out of all, I feel this is one of the most generous and effective, since Im able to do up to 50 more than exercises per day AND frequently run into bouts of frustration. To elaborate, Im actually being challenged, and I love that. The effects in my life have been apparent too, so thank you. This is a lovely app.
Like it a lot actually. I do feel sharper when I regularly use the app vs. not having done it for a while. I appreciate the "for free"option and that the ads are not long and/or obnoxious at all in my experience! It's also nice to be able to adjust the complexity of an exercise and that I am regularly asked what I like or do not like. Many times after I've given the correct response, I'm still marked wrong. (Usually during the exercise that needs a tap on screen after symbol/sound...boo!)
