Great app EXCEPT they need to figure a better way to have advertisements on their app. I can NOT read a single article without an ad blocking what I'm reading. Over and over. When I try exiting out an ad, it took me out completely away from the article. I couldn't find it. Even worst while I was looking for it. Ads were annoyingly popping up. If money is more important than people using the app. Keep your money, but your not wasting my time. No thanks

Too many ads.??? It's crazy how many(ads) there are they cover the articles most of the time. The "X" to close is too small, so you end up clicking another ad in the process.I have to keep alerts turned off because the app sends constant spam and trash AI articles. Also, I don't know why they chose to have the articles repeated over and over again. This app used to be good, and I used it regularly to keep track of news around different cities I travel to and home, but it has gotten so bad now.

Not recommended at all! Most of the time I try to read an article or search for one that I really wanna read, it takes me somewhere else or constantly freezes. It's also causing problems on my phone. I was hoping that it was fixed, but it wasn't so I'm Uninstalling and won't be downloading again. I suggest finding another way to keep up on the news and staying away from this app if you wanna keep your phone working.

I have had this app for a long time. I have recently noticed a significant decline. 5 stars....down to 2. The story either won't load at all, or mid way though reading the article starts flashing or words drag down the whole screen and your not able to finish. There are TONS of ads and notifications....I learned to deal with...but if I can't even read the news article.....whats the point.?

News Break makes it quick and easy to know what is going on locally without needing to use local station apps, which are notorious for being terrible. My only real hangup is that there isn't a widget (like Flipboard or Microsoft news) that would allow me to scroll through some of the headlines without having to click on the icon to see what's going on. Add in that feature, and I'd be using the app even more often. Regardless, it is still my favorite local news app.

Do not download unless you love tons of ads popping up so fast you can't even get close to reading ANY article on there. So full of adware it's pathetic! It used to be great, now it's went downhill so bad. I would not recommend it to anyone anymore, and I'm deleting mine. It's just not worth the hassle. You spend more time trying to beat out all the adware just to read a few words that it's REALLY not worth the trouble!

I use this app all the time, at least daily. I like the abundance of local, national, and international news, I like that people can comment. What I loathe about it is that I constantly have to resign in, even multiple times a day, and every time, it signs me up for notifications and emails again. I get enough NewsBreak through the app, I don't want emails and notifications! This is so bothersome, I'm going to have to delete. Please fix automatic subscriptions & constant sign outs.

Decent news app that allows readers chat about the article, which is great. The reason I give 1 star is because it is absolutely riddled with aggressively persistent ads. I can see myself deleting the app sooner rather than later because having to chase an 'x' that's crazy small or hidden, while I'm trying to read, is less than enjoyable & don't forget the lovely ads that just pop up full screen & take over the content. The ads alone makes for a garbage fire of a read.

This app isn't the best for getting the latest news. Seems like they post articles 2 weeks after the event happens as if no one has read or seen it elsewhere. Also, don't accidentally hit the share button while trying to go back out of the article. It stays frozen on that screen. I tried to back exit, use the arrow at top, and even tried closing out of the app. Nothing works. I need to restart my phone when this happens. Very annoying. Please fix. Samsung galaxy 20 fe.

Tooooo many ads interrupting what I'm reading (yes you read it right! In the middle of reading an article an ad will pop-up and when you click out of the ad the entire article is gone. good luck trying to refind it again!) Theres ads WITHIN the article (you have to read around it) And then there's pop-ups that will completely Replace the article you were reading! This is why I only gave it 2 Stars: It's got great info, but you can't get to it!

The notifications on this app are ridiculous! I turned them off through the app and through my phone's settings and they still come through with an image that takes up my whole screen, even when my phone is on "do not disturb". I wrote into customer support about it and never heard back. I've now deleted the app after being woken up by another notification early in the morning when not feeling well and very much needing the rest. Get it together! No one needs this kind of hassle.

Good for local news and events. The drawback..., they post a lot from non-news sources. (Radio stations, social media, pod cast) Also, the app will not save your preferences. If you choose to delete or otherwise restrict certain segments, like sports, it will continue to show sports. Many of the post do not provide any more details beyond the headline content.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5 stars) The app itself works fine and has a clean design, but the content is a big problem. Most of the news comes from biased or unreliable sources like Fox News and others that push fake or exaggerated stories. A lot of the content is offensive, annoying, or just not worth reading. Feels more like drama and gossip than real news. Not the worst app, but definitely not the best either. Needs better news sources and more trustworthy reporting.

Newsbreak is not at all what it used to be. It always had clickbait, but the last few months have been really bad. I click an article to read and then it redirects to a full screen ad that has no time-out and can't be closed without closing the app itself. Then I can't find the article anymore that I originally clicked. I also used to love the ability to click a button to access the original source so I could share the article with someone who doesn't have Newsbreak but they removed that feature

While this app, does report some news, more than half is generated by A.I. algorithms, & 99% of the articles are laced with intrusive ads, and redirect requests. Some of them have ads that consistently display over the entire page, have no way of closing it out, and the only way to get rid of them, is to close the entire app, which causes you to lose your article, and where you found it, and sometimes is impossible to find again. NOT RECOMMENDED!!! UNINSTALL!! Designed to steal information.

I hate that I can never get a full news article. Halfway through the article, the screen goes white with only the header. I also don't like the intrusive nature of this app. Even with notifications turned off, the notifications are constant and you can't get the whole article! Totally useless! The ads are excessive. And now, after last update, notifications are blocking my login screen even though notifications are blocked. Time to uninstall!

Good app, only complaints are how they give me the same notification twice, making me have to slide the same one away twice and too many notifications. Literally had to turn off notification sound for it. Otherwise, it's great. I was able to get Girl Scout cookies on their last day selling them. A couple of months ago, when I thought they were gone for the year, this app told me they were still selling them, but it was the last chance for this year to get them.

There's always one problem or another with this app. The most frequent problem is that my posted comments seem to not really get posted, as if I'm the only person on the planet who can see them. Being someone who uses & posts on Newsbreak almost every day for the past couple of years, I know that it's not working right when this happens. And out of all the emails I've sent to the app developers about it, guess how many replies I've gotten....yup that's right, zero.

I have this app placed in deep-sleep mode, I've also restricted any notifications, not allowed to use background data, and it's placed on restricted battery usage; YET, it somehow finds a way to randomly send me notifications showing some type of local news story and ask if I would like to continue to receive such notifications 🤔 Something isn't legitimate about this. I like the app; nevertheless, it's on the verge of becoming obsolete on all of my devices.

Liked the app at first. Turned off notification because I don't want them, I'll open the app went I want to interact with it. App goes around notification settings with intrusive pop-ups that will not allow me to use my device until they're cleared. This is a huge invasion of my device and privacy. This app does not have permission to send me notifications of any kind, yet is allowed to interfere with intrusive pop-ups even when not using the app. How is this allowed?
