Reviews for Nextdoor: Neighborhood Network

I can't upload videos. First, the app won't access my videos at all. I tried moving them to different albums that it has access to, but no luck. I changed the videos to GIFs. The app shows the GIF uploading successfully, but once the post is made, it's not there at all. I tried force-stopping/clearing storage and cache; it still doesn't work for Android.

the updates this week stink. I cannot edit my comments. the icon dots are almost invisible. there is no ability to see updates to earlier posts. I can't navigate at all. 🤔🤬 In fact I just had a (red) 9 on my app icon, indicating updates to items I commented on, but I can't see them. there no listing of the items, that used to be in yellow, when I open the app. 😪

Not sure what's going on, but the app isn't loading. It just constantly does the swirl, showing it's trying to load. Has worked up until today. Edited 8/3/2025 - Logged in on a webpage worked fine so I decided app was having some issue. Uninstalled app and reinstalled. Working again. No Idea what hiccup was with not completely loading.

This app is very rough around the edges. Search results are often irrelevant. For some reason this app eats up storage space on my phone. The first time I noticed it the app size was over 10gb. I have to clear app data to bring it back to the the install size. This is a constant issue. I don't understand how a forum can eat so much disk space. The devs need to look in to this.

THIS REVIEW STILL STANDS. The app constantly notifies you of events that aren't evening happening near you. I'm part of the group in my neighborhood but it never notifies me of posts in my community no matter what options I've enabled in the notifications settings or what device I'm using. There are way to many settings in the app. I only keep it for the possibly one to two times a year I might actually find information relevant to my neighborhood.

A useful app for local stuff. The New version looks better and has better options. The long list of Notifications to manage is a hassle to turn off. Unless I'm missing the"Turn off ALL notifications" button, you have to turn off about 20 different types. While that makes the app notifications very customizable, it seems excessive.

Welcome to Next Door Advertisements! Way too many ads, and they are cleverly disguised to look like posts so you don't just scan over them. I just did a count and of the first 28 posts in my feed, 10 of them are ads. 35% of my feed is nothing but advertisements. Life is too short to waste looking at so many ads. I'm sure somebody somewhere is counting impressions to feed into sales metrics, you go get em sales guy.

Don't install if you hate getting email notifications by default. I kept getting notifications through email and when I went into the app to disable it, there wasn't a single 'disable all email notifications' setting and I had to go through every single category of alerts to turn off notifications. This app just seems more hassle than it's worth

I rarely use this app anymore. It used to be good but now between the ads and business accounts it's so cluttered with useless stuff that I no longer like it. There are literally more ads than posts. I understand you need to make money but c'mon!! Do better! EDIT: Now you have taken away the ability to sort the feed the way I want it. I can only see it in the order you decide. You just lost another star!!

NEW GRAPHICS CAN'T HIDE THE SAME TIRED BUGS — 1. There is ALWAYS an "unread message" in my Inbox. No matter how many times I open and close the message, it always gives me the red dot with the "1" in the center. The message is several months old. 2. The annoying pop-up notification, "Updates you may have missed" that appears THE MOMENT you close the program. C'mon, Nextdoor! Are we really supposed to believe your sub-par garbage coders can't fix these five-year-old bugs?? Get with the program!!

This is a great app for finding out about the goings on in your neighborhood and great for finding contractors and service providers. However, the amount of begging that is starting to show up is becoming problematic. I get at least one or two Cash app panhandlers in my feed everyday. If it keeps going like this, soon the app is going to become completely overwhelmed by people begging which is not the point of the app.

Posted about 25 ads for my lawn service, and don't even know if it's truly being viewed. It's in the account profile, but that's not evidence. Same goes with $300 paid advertising for the month. Can be fake impressions and clicks. I'm not even permitted to edit or view my paid sponsored ad, and doesn't show up on my second account in neighborhood or surrounding area. On top of this, been charged additional $310 for who knows what a week later. Doesn't even show in Nextdoor account. No customers.

I will use the app to sell some stuff, but there are so many ads! there are so many postings from groups I have not signed up for. All of my notifications are about things that I have not signed up for. and there is no way to turn any of that stuff off. if they only showed me the things I'd expressed an interest in, it would be usable. but otherwise this app is a mess. the latest format update made things very difficult to find and so you can't give this app more than one star.

I like it a lot. Can be very informative and helpful for finding people that have skills to assist one another for lots of things. People can be nice and sometimes they're mean. That's any group. Can't have thin skin though. The only thing I believe is needed is active Pop Notifications. Many people and myself included do not receive their notifications or replies until it's too late. They don't come in priority. So often if a person isn't constantly on this app, they will miss them.

When I search for "lost cat," the top two results are ads. The next is a veterinarian, and after that is a hardware store?? Even though it's set to "all," it shows businesses, pages (unrelated to lost pets), and events before it gets to groups/posts relevant to my search. Didn't think this app could get any worse than it was before... clearly I was wrong.

I keep being told I need to update and get sent to Google Play Store, and I do not need to update. It just says "Open or uninstall!" It's so frustrating because then I have to start my search all over. I just want to get the addresses of the sales, if that's where they are posted. The map icon on the post. PLEASE fix the glitch or contact me so it can get fixed! I will change my review score if this gets resolved.

Can't get rid of the ads. I would never answer an ad on this platform. I delete them and their right back. I live in the ghetto I don't trust ANYONE around here. The puzzle haul at the Smoky Hill library is messed up. Ring a bell to start swapping oh cause some baby didn't get the puzzle she wanted. So they put all the puzzles out for everyone to see and when the bell rings you have 2-year-olds running to the puzzles. That's super stupid. I'll pass on that also.

The app is messed up . It keeps freezing, it won't let me scroll to the bottom in any part of the app, if I click on things, its hit & miss. Most of the time it doesn't show me anything, just flashes but you know & can see their is something supposed to show up. I've done everything on my end & it doesn't do anything. Plz tell me what is going on?? Fix these problems & I will raise my rating. If not I'm deleting it permanently! Thanks

Hiding ads means nothing. On this app, the same ad appears every few posts. You have the option of hiding it, but you're still going to see the next one. And the next one. Etc. Even resetting the app doesn't matter, the ad will still show up in your feed. Some ads I DO NOT want to see. The result is avoiding the app. It's that the goal here, Nextdoor?

I WANT to like this app, but it frustrates me. I can't seem to figure out a way to look at JUST my immediate neighborhood at a click of a button, I don't care what is happening a few miles away most of the time - I really would like to filter by neighborhood. I'm seeing posts from last week but not newer posts, the posts I can find seem to not be in order at all. However, I'm definitely seeing tons of sponsored ads, every other post actually. I get it, it's free, but can we tone ads down a bit?
