OMG! Talk about frustrating 😒. This product is trash. How can you go through the night wearing a device only to be told it was unsuccessful? I hate paying for something and it doesn't work properly. The worse part for me is, I can lose my CDL if I can't get results soon because I need It to update my medical card. Wish I could just get a refund and find another product to use. dont even waste your time with this
Reviews for NightOwl Companion
← Back to NightOwl Companionit took about 3 weeks to get the equipment due to Medicare and personal insurance issues, but the equipment is easy to use- just follow directions and go by the video. the pictures on the video didn't want to load and I had to go back to start several times to see the pictures but it was easy to follow and easy to use this process. I gave 3 stars related to the insurance issues and I had to call twice to this company to find out why I hadnt been sent the equipment and also due to issue of the vi
once you can get the app on your phone the video is super easy to understand very well put together hopefully everybody can put the app on their phone I had to have several tries before it would boot up on my phone That's why I gave it a four star instead of a five and it's quite possible it was just my phone my phone is quite old so I would say you must have a newer phone in order to things to work easier as far as its functionality very easy My rest was sweet and peaceful
Very very very slow. It took 3 and 1/2 hours on my blazing fast Samsung S25 Ultra phone with "Processing last night recording" to finish after a 2 second long upload. Finally finally it was successful . I carried along the Nightowl sensor next to the phone with Bluetooth on in case the slow Nightowl app needed any more data. Unacceptable.
I was glad this app seemed so simple to use, but eneded up being more frustrating than expected. First night everything connected fine, however, in the morning upload would not complete (went on for almost an hour). Finally restarted my phone and then it completed, but did not ask me the questions that were shown in the video I watched. Second night, wasted over an hour trying to connect sensor to app. Checked all connections, restarted phone twice, uninstalled and reinstalled app twice.Nothing!
I was supposed to do a 2 night test but was only able to successfully do 1 which was the very first night. On the second night, it failed to record anything. Tried it again on the third night for a second test, it won't connect to the app any longer and the app shows instruction now for an entirely different device. Contacted provider for help and was told to just uninstall/reinstall. Tried but failed everytime. Fourth night same. Fifth night, same. Sixth night, different device, same. I'm done.
Not impressed with the sensor set up, getting failed recording error after 7 hours, when sensor is in same exact spot it was when I went to sleep. It said it's possibly because it was too tight, well, why the hell wouldn't it have told me that when it detected the sensor 7 hours before? I'm not going to continue to prolong this annoying process due to technical errors on your part.
The device is fine. However if your internet connection is weak the test will fail. The company as whole is not trained to communicate with non technical people. Like Ismael said the last step in the setup is confusing. It would not be hard to put the record button in a more intuitive place. The gesture to scroll up means something else to my phone which adds to the frustration.
The app gave me an error after the night that said my sensor wasn't on good enough. It had stayed attached securely all night without being too tight. I have no idea how I'm supposed to fix this error tonight because it lookes attached to me. It would be nice if the app informed you of this before the whole night was over. On the plus side, so far the customer service has been great and they are sending me a new device. We will see if my rating goes up.
The app worked for two nights before glitching out when I connected a physical keyboard to fill out the sleep journal. After that, it refuses to record another night; I can get to the last panel of preparation and tap the button (it even provides visual feedback), but nothing happens. Why did I attach the physical keyboard? Because the app doesn't adapt to the on-screen keyboard, which means that the sleep journal was covered and I couldn't see what I was typing.
I used the NightOwl device for sleep study last night. It was comfortable & easy to use. It's so small that I can't believe it will be effective! The app is easy to follow along with for set up & removal. The instructions didn't say that I didn't need to turn off the device, but it was easy to Google that question. The device is automatically turned off when you enter the info that you are awake.
Worst apps I have ever seen. First night it acted like it was working and than by the morning I go to click wake up. Mind you the timer is still running so I know the app isn't frozen. It wont click wake up no matter how many times I click it. Closed and reopened app, DELETED. Wait two day until I hear back and all they said to do is uninstall the app and repeat 🙄. Just finished second attempt. I wake up an hour before I was going to get up. It's disconnected itself. Now won't turn on. Trash.
Couldn't get the app to show anything other than 3 pics with basi instructions on how to use the app, no other options were available. called representative and explained situation to her, she would say to open the video. I again explained that there was no video or anything else showing. she just going by her "script". after several times of me trying to convince her of nothing she was describing was on my screen, I got discouraged and hung up.
Once received the sensor looked as though it was used had adhesive on it. Got it to connect the first night only had 1 bar on the battery life. After 7.5 hours states it didn't work basically second night wore it worked fine. Third day to make up for the first day thing wouldn't stay on. Deleted, shut off phone, reinstalled and now the device won't turn on at all. What a waste of time, I'm shipping it back. Hope they don't expect payment for this horrible product.
My experience with the NightOwl app has been very frustrating. I very carefully followed the instructions. After much hassle, my NP was informed that not enough information was gather by the app for analysis. There's not enough room to go into everything. I have to do another round with this thing. I can't go to the sleep lab, which would be preferable at this point, but insurance won't cover it unless I've had a stroke in the past year.
I can sleep for an hour at a time, it is so awful just getting thru the night. This is supposed to assess my condition with a pulse/O2 monitor? It didn't work the first night, and didn't alert me to any specific issue, and didn't alert that there was an issue till the morning. AFTER 8 hours of active monitoring, it then tells me, its didn't work but i can try again. WASTE OF TIME. Waste of insurance.
This is one of the worst most inconvenient devices I've encountered. It took over 3 hrs to install. I had to search for the number to tech support, install the app several times, and the instructions were confusing. You don't know if it's actually working until the next morning and it fails easily. There is no way to find out events as you go, You have to repeat the steps each time it fails. Last night I started a test and this morning it did not record anything. I have to do another night.
Not a good app for uploading sleep data. I have been using the app for a week while trying to complete a four-day sleep study. The device connects through the app each night, but in the morning, it fails to upload on most occasions. The only way to stop the upload attempts is to remove and reinstall the app, and then redo the sleep study. It is a very easy app to navigate. This is why I have given it two stars. I reached out to NightOwl; I received a basic reply that it could be my connection.
Smooth operation the first night. I tried a different sleep study machine that was not disposable prior to using this and it had many issues, resulting in no sleep study data. This was very easy to operate compared to that. Just make sure you allow the app to run in the background (you will be automatically notified during the setup process if you need to allow this on your phone).
The setup instructions are okay. Only I would add, do not put the phone in the bottom sheet pocket. Although closer to the Night Owl device on my finger, I believe it caused zero results. I think it needs to lie on a flat surface. Applying the tape can be tricky, too tight and it won't read. Not using oxygen and CPAP was very difficult for me. For me, it was better to give this at-home test a try versus driving an hour and a half to the Sleep Clinic.
