This app is very barebones... I wish they would repost Twitter news here, since the only reason I still have a Twitter account is to get Splatoon announcements like Eggstra Work and early Splatfest theme announcements. It's also kind of ridiculous to me that I can't view any posts from a previous day if I forgot to check the app that day. If you don't want to miss anything, you Have to check-in daily. And once I view all posts for the day, which usually takes less than a minute, I close the app.
Reviews for Nintendo Today!
← Back to Nintendo Today!Learning about the features and you can do allot of cool stuff. I love having an animated calendar themed after my favorite Nintendo characters.
This app worked perfectly until it did a update. Once that happened it no longer works. Keeps telling me the time on my phone is wrong and won't sign in. I love nintendo but this is ridiculous.
One of the most useless products Nintendo has ever made. Half the time, they have nothing interesting to share and the actual news just gets reposted on Twitter anyways. Also, they updated the app to make it so you cannot screenshot or screen record without getting a black screen. This is news, wouldn't you want us to SHARE the news, Nintendo?
Pretty solid. It simply gives the recent news on about the Nintendo company. The amount of bombards of newest Nintendo titles that I couldn't care less about is a bit much. I also think that the Pikmin background can be different other than a simple mosiac background. Nonetheless it gives your calender's information to the app with permission so you could get a Nintendo themed calendar and get the latest news on your selected games including Pikmin Bloom.
Was good before a login was required. I've selecting my logged in Nintendo account repeatedly, always sends back an error or doesn't redirect correctly. I'm not creating a 2nd account to receive Nintendo news.
Excellent and fun presentation and UX, but kinda pointless? It's just Nintendo advertising that you're voluntarily installing, but it evokes fun and nostalgia, so you do it anyway. Most calendar entries are for the NSO "missions" Nintendo uses to try to turn gaming into a chore, though you can turn "Nintendo Switch Online" entries off in the settings, so hoping that fixes it. The app supposedly learns from your preferences but I'm unsure what that means practically.
Now I'm unable to sign in after being able to before. Is Nintendo punishing me for not using the app frequently? I know the time is correct, this isn't Animal Crossing. The same error has now gone on for 2 days, I tried restarting my phone & the same error still shows when attempting to sign in.
could be so much more, the app is basically just a news portal. there's a calendar but calendar widget. having that in the theme of your choice would be cool for the homescreen. idk why it's so limited
Edit: Please give us a way to hide news stories or features. I don't personally want to see anything Wario, or things from series I'm not familiar with. Actually really cute. Not sure how useful it will actually be, but I'm enjoying the calendar widget and the themes.
A decent concept overall, but it's currently lacking in content and has some annoying issues that need fixing. In particular, the app will often crash when you attempt to open it, and the widgets do not function correctly and always display "Could not retrieve data" - at least on my device. Thus far, that has left the app as frankly more trouble than it's worth, but with fixes and additions this could be great.
I love the app and UI, it's very nicely done. Unfortunately, it does crash when starting up, and getting to the app from the widget seems to only make the crashes worse. Besides a few bugs, it's a pretty good app, hopefully it gets fixed soon!
Content is slowly fed (as expected) and will often show whatever it wants rather than stuff from your selected games. It's definitely meant to be a "check once a day" app, but I'd still like a bit more than what's been made available. More than just a few short minutes of browsing content each day. Update: Ever since the Switch 2 direct, more than half of my feed has been replaced with Switch 2 news. I get maybe 2-3 other posts if I'm lucky.
No option to rotate the screen. This app is basically a glorified video player, yet all of the videos are widescreen formatted in vertical orientation. Hope you enjoy having black bars over 2/3 of your phone screen while you watch an animated postage stamp. No option to share content. Want to talk with your friends about something? Better take a screenshot or use a screen recorder. More likely: skip the app and go to a website where some big media company has shared the content for you.
The app is overall pretty easy to get used to, not to complicated upon first usage in my opinion. The little fun animations around the app are a nice detail, though I do wish different game series' were separated, for example, if I only wanted to see Pikmin content on the home page. I also think the widgets are nice and fun to use and customize my phone with.
It works smoothly on my Samsung Galaxy A03s mobile device. They have cool designs and news, info, and events about Nintendo for the calendar. Hopefully they'll add more themes backgrounds and designs of other Nintendo games and be able to add our own events like birthdays, reminders, etc.. on the calendar. I like this calendar more than the one that comes with Samsung Galaxy (default) app.
just downloaded it and already I feel stronger I'm able to lift my car and solve equations the professors at the local university weren't able to solve. I've also been able to travel at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour just by running (that's 128km per hour). I feel no pain I hit my toe on the side of my bed frame and the bed said "OUCH". I don't need glasses anymore because upon downloading the app I gained 40/40 vision ,night vision and infrared vision. Thank you Nintendo for the app.
I appreciate the idea of making a platform independent of Google and x to give people news more directly, and I appreciate the fact that the app seems to actually make more full use of the screen estate as opposed to the switch music app that cuts off chunks of the app on anything that isn't a phone. It sure would be nice if there was a landscape mode for this app though. Android tablet users are rare, but they exist.
It's a decent news app and calendar app. I don't mind having to scroll to see the daily content, I like the widgets, and it's great to have a calendar with reminders of Nintendo related news and events, like upcoming in-game events! Just don't expect this to replace your default calendar app, you can't add custom events or sync with other services.
launch day user here. this app started out with constant crashing and not keeping track of the news articles I've read. however, the April update fixed the crashing, and the May update fixed the news articles saying they weren't read when they actually were, which had been really ticking me off. Also, I've gotten less repeat content lately as well. there's even a calendar with all of the upcoming Nintendo events. thanks to all of the updates, I highly recommend this app. 😃
