Description
Been trying out OCSN for a few weeks now, and it’s basically like social media but specifically for fans who create their own characters (OCs) in different fandoms. Think of it like Twitter or Instagram, but everyone’s roleplaying their original characters instead of posting as themselves. Pretty unique concept, not gonna lie.
So here’s how it works: you create your character, pick their universe (like Harry Potter, Marvel, whatever), and then start posting and interacting with other people’s OCs. There’s profiles you can customize, a feed where you see everyone’s posts, and you can follow other characters you’re interested in. It’s got this cool feature where you can switch between different OCs if you’ve got multiple characters.
Look, if you’re into fandoms and roleplay, you’re probably gonna love this. It’s way more focused than trying to do this stuff on regular social media, and the community’s pretty welcoming from what I’ve seen. Sure, it’s still growing and doesn’t have millions of users like the big platforms, but that kind of makes it feel more tight-knit. Pretty refreshing to see something different in the social media space.
Editor Opinion
Real talk - I've tested tons of social apps, and OCSN's actually doing something different here. It's filling this weird gap between regular social media and roleplay forums that I didn't even realize existed. The app's still got some rough edges and could use more features, but I'm actually impressed by how well it works for what it's trying to do.
What I really dig is how it keeps everything organized by fandoms and characters - way better than trying to keep track of roleplay threads on Twitter or Tumblr. And since it's all real people (no AI), the interactions feel genuine. That said, it definitely needs a bigger user base to really hit its stride. But for what it is right now? Pretty solid start.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Actually feels like a proper community, not just another social app clone
- Super easy to keep track of different characters and fandoms
- No AI-generated stuff cluttering up the feed
- Really friendly user base that's actually into roleplaying
Cons
- Could use more active users to make it livelier
- Missing some features you'd expect from bigger social apps
- Takes a bit to get used to if you're new to OC roleplay

this app is so fun and a great way to roleplay with characters without using AI!! my only suggestion is that there should be a draft option where we can...
An app finally for the instagram roleplayers, it still needs a few tweaks but im so happy to have an app like this where the people who made it actually...
nice to have an OC social network, but the ai-generated language of the character-building page and other UI is very cheesy and cringe worthy to the point that it's distracting
