It's a decent app, but it would be nice to see prices on each item. It wastes time to have to look at each item individually to see it's price. Also, not every posting shows when or how long a post has been online. It would also be nice if there weren't any dealers or businesses online. Car dealers have blasted numerous vehicles in individual posts and makes it a challenge to weed through ads to find private sellers. Same with mattress businesses and others.
Reviews for OfferUp: Buy. Sell. Simple.
← Back to OfferUp: Buy. Sell. Simple.BIGGEST BATTERY DRAIN in the App store. Also the biggest use of TRACKING. In 4 days my phone reported 220,075 TRACKING ATTEMPTS from the offer up app. this app ALWAYS RUNS in the background. If you have SECURITY concerns (and you should) even if you just don't want to drain your battery you should consider not putting this on your device. Good Luck. I didn't think it could get WORSE but they added full page ads with sound. P.S. Now they added waymo ads with NO EXIT.
1. I hate that I have to click on something to see the price. 2. after choosing nearly everything that I'm interested in, I clicked on a car to see the price and now 90% of what I see is cars! 3. I tried clicking on a shoe to throw off the algorithm and now shoes make up 9% - the remaining 1% is random and ads 🙄 reviews say it's great for selling, maybe I should sell something🤷🏽♂️
Definitely changed, no longer a good place to sell. First time i was charged subscription fee, even thought they deleted my posts over my dislike of 3rd party having access to my phone. They refunded . 2nd chance, paid fee then frozen again because they cant have 24 location on me. This is major right violations. Tracking me 100% is their priority.
Has several drawbacks. Prices are not shown and one has to open an item to see them and then return to the main screen. Another problem is that there is no ability to post from a computer - posting is available only via the app. Also, items listed remain forever regardless if the seller is still active. In addition, it automatically signs one up for notifications, some of which are useless and intrusive.
1. It subscribes you to emails for each individual person you talk to on the app. It's obnoxious. 2. You have to select the product before you see the price because they took it off the main search page. Devs are morons. 3. There's no way to filter old the old products that won't get replies. 4. Constantly reloads so you lose what you were looking at and have to hunt it down again. 5. Clunky and bloated for user navigation and notification within the app. 6. ⚠️Scammers everywhere!!!⚠️ Beware.
Cannot make an account. It says I already made one. This message will not leave. Customer service was not helpful. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and the message went away. Now I keep getting notifications even though I have them turned off. I still get notifications while all notifications are off. I am unable to rate buyers who show up several hours late or never show up at all. the worst part about this app is so many people waste your time, but you can no rate them, so they keep doing it.
Used for about 3 months . My experience with messages about items was like this: 1)people would seem interested in an item then when I respond they never write back. 2)people would offer $20-45 less on an already fairly priced item (item for $70). One person offered to pay the $70, then when I asked when can they pick it up they asked can they have it for $50. 3)some messengers seemed scammy. New account, changing where they live, fake sounding name, etc. Very few messages in 3 months as well.
As if OfferUp doesn't make enough money off of sales, they force non-skippable video ads on you while you browse for stuff to buy. I just force close the app and go to eBay when that happens - it's insane. I can't imagine a company taking a cut from every sale through the app would need to sell out to low-quality mobile advertisers yet here they are, doing just that.
This app is a shell of what it used to be. Random full screen ads play while browsing and virtually zero sellers are active. They don't display when an item was listed, when a seller was last active, nor automatically delist years old items. I've tried ordering ~5 shipping items and not a single one has even had a seller response. I've sent 10 messages for local items and also not a single one was responded. Unfortunately the platform is just so much worse than it was 8yr ago.
Probably one of the worst apps for buying something. Out of all the people I've tried to contact only 1, and I mean 1, has contacted me back. It's also full of ads that look like the regular listings. You accidentally click on them and you have to restart your search. It's like you never even searched at all. On top of that 9.9/10 you have to relog into your account just to check messages or save items.
They delisted my item without notice. I posted an item, had 10 photos taken that day, listed specs, model number, and all available info. I didn't get an email or message in the app about any sort of rules violation, just lost my listing when I went back to check on it. My post was full of detailed info and there was nothing about it less than credible. Also pet peeve, but you need the app to list an item, it wouldn't let me from the website. Just not a great experience overall.
I have not been using this app for very long so maybe I missed something, but from what I gather, this marketplace app does not offer my potential customers free shipping, which is an attribute I like to offer my customers. In fact, looking into it, it seems that shipping is not only charged to the customer, but through my various tools, I can ship items far cheaper on my own. Maybe I missed something while making my listing. If so, help me out finding it, developing team department! Cheers!
In the past, I have found some great deals, but the filters don't work, and ads are excessive. I selected 30 mile range and local only, and most everything was shipping option. 1 ad took nearly a full minute and can't leave the app while the ad is on. This apnwas great, but its been going downhill more and more every year since LetItGo was acquired by them.
Don't use this app if you think there is even the slightest chance that you may need to use customer support for a simple issue one day because the process is abysmal. Ordered a guitar and amp and realized in seconds it was the wrong one, there is no cancel order button anywhere on the entire platform, the only option is politely ask the seller to cancel it, they dont respond because they prob stopped using the app months ago so you have to wait a week to auto cancel it instead of just a button
as a buyer it seems like this platform does not cater to you. with each update they keep making it worse. first it started with the removal of the posted date of an item, which means you constantly run into old outdated ads that the seller will not respond to, they keep the old ads up to make their store stand out. now with the new update they took the price of the item off the main search page so now you have to click on each item to find out the price, too much work to use.
I've been trying for months to sell 3 couches on this platform.. so I lowered the price and was threatened to be kicked off the app for "under or over pricing." an item. I asked for clarification and received another email threatening to kick me off for good, so weird. I hate offerup anyway it's impossible to sell anything unless you pay some fee. *I did reach out because I don't appreciate being accused of something I didn't do..was told they would look into it and weeks pass.. nothing.
It's a good app to sell new and used items, but recently I have been getting people messaging me and not reading the description of my items and then want it cheaper or asks questions about the item that is already on the description. My items are way below pricing than any retailer. I'm beginning to think that the people in my state are total morons. Then the community acts like they want to buy your item then doesn't want to buy the item. I had to delete the app. It was not loading at all.
I’ve stopped using the app because it’s become too difficult and time-consuming to list items. They’ve removed the ability to reuse completed posts, so now every item has to be entered from scratch. This makes selling regularly a hassle. I recommend using Facebook Marketplace instead—it’s faster, easier, and reaches a much broader audience.
The Uber of Classifieds. Was a great alternative to craigslist that modernized it a bit. But they seem to have introduced full page ads you need to close out of. Like it's a free app you download off the Play store and not an actual company. Failed to monetize this properly and the company isn't doing well is what that tells me. Amazingly, Facebook is now the best place to buy and sell things. Impressive ineptitude from the competition to make that happen.
