Reviews for Olio — Share More, Waste Less

Brilliant app! We had a lot of food leftover from a sports event; the local food bank took a large amount and we offered the items they couldn't take on Olio. Had a great response and it made our day to see dozens of baked potatoes and fresh sausages go to a good home instead of landfill.

This is a great idea and I use it a lot to collect and giveaway. But..... I find it impossible to contact admin with a query. For instance; What to do if someone constantly ignores messages (even when they've been read)? How to ask a question to the community? Why so many inappropriate adverts that go on and on? (I'm happy to get adverts but not so lengthy). EDIT: Having read some of the reviews, it seems I'm not the only one to have issues so, please, admin look into this.

it would be better if the app provide the giver location as the map only show Singapore general map hard to tell where the location is. if can provide map with town and HDB block number, it would be good. as I mostly walk to collect.

only downloaded 2days ago but so far loving it no issues with glitches or slowness ect that seem to be in the reviews. I found it easy to list and someone came to collect 2 hours later. pretty easy to navigate and excited to share and collect more items would recommend giving it a go.

absolutely fantastic app and the concept of it is amazing, so simple and easy to use. my household is obsessed with Olio, completely and utterly free food and household items! you can place wanted ads for household items and even sell and buy items. saving money, helping the planet and connecting with the local community, it's a amazing app.

few greedy people that collect and don't share, ignore your request, or list at 2145 and say must collect by 2200, meaning they keep everything they collect. but there are a few that are genuine, kind, and share. depends on your area. The ethos of the site is to stop waste. The collector is only meant to collect 10%, but some think it's their shopping trip. They run multiple accounts in different names at the same address it's so they can do around 8 collections where the max is 3. Be Kind 😇

Absolute RUBBISH. Poor app layout used by unclear. ignorant, obnoxious, stupid users. This app has really gone downhill over the years. many errors and crashes. Difficult to use. too many notifications drain your battery. some advertised features aren't there at all. I'm only giving one star because I can't give zero.

I love it but by god please edit the notifications for messages! Consistently I will get a single notification when I actually have multiple individual messages from different users. This is a nightmare for food heroes! Please just use a normal notification system where each message = a different banner notification. edited: the app is somehow even more buggy than it was. Even the forgot password link doesn't work.

Shame to see how it's changed. It used to be focused on collecting local food for free that would go to waste. Now so much of it is reduced food to buy from supermarkets. Also monetised their "supporters" plan to give priority to those on their subscription...

What an amazing app with multi - faceted use. Whether you are buying, selling, need help in tough times, or would like to help others this app is a must. There is even a section for lending or borrowing various tools and equipment. It also has filters such as distance adjusting and much much more!

very buggy app. faulty all the time. you'll try to make a request for an item anywhere between 4-7 times. it'll just keep booting you off sending you back to the home page or just closes itself completely. you have to go back through the whole process again and again. I've ended up missing out on 2 items so far. to say it's well reported how much money the co-founders make on this app, it's obvious to many they're clearly not reinvesting enough to run what should be today, a really simple app

I've been an Olio volunteer and user for over five years now and I'm very disappointed with the app and changes they've made. I used to be able to share surplus food and non-food items easily but now I upload things to the app and no one requests them. I have a feeling this is due to the changes. In addition I've been unable to even use the app for three days now as it has displayed me with a blank screen. This is now fixed, but means the food I wanted to share has gone to waste.

The app, in a whole, is good. With some small changes, it could be great, and I'd happily give 5 stars. The changes needed are limit how many regular slots each person has, I found that many people have 6 or 7 slots each, meaning that newbies and other people struggle to get one decent slot? It's so unfair. And there's no help for Olio. It needs a bit of tweeting. Maybe limit how many regular slots everyone can have? Give everyone a fair chance? Might help.

Extremely useful for preventing food waste and saving money. Until recently, I would have rated 5 stars, but the notifications immediately as food is added are now only available to subscribers, which often means by the time you notice things have been added, there isn't enough left to justify fuel for collection/items you might prioritise have gone. Also sometimes I seem to need to watch an advert to request every listing, which again leads to missing out, however this doesn't happen every time

I reinstalled the app after a little more than a year and it feels bloated and spammed with ads now. Either standard ads or promotions by companies (e.g., Iceland). Some features are now locked behind a paywall (lucky dips). I understand they need to make a profit but it just makes the whole experience feel much less community orientated and much more commercial. Once companies start heading in this direction, it doesnt tend to stop.

Oh my goodness, what have you done to the layout?! Such a useful app now so hard to use! Before it was easy to sort by nearest/newest and flick between food and non food and now it takes loads of taps and setting filters each time. Terrible update! Please give the old, easy to use layout back!

Absolutely LOVE this app! It's a great way to get rid of your unwanted food & non-food items by giving the stuff to others in need! When I first joined I posted quite a few food items & somebody requested them, then picked them up quickly! Also have experienced getting things from others. ALL of my experiences have been with great people. Its a fantastic app!

Every release carries more ads to further the devs' true goals of self-enrichment, while functionality keeps getting worse and bugs multiply. it's barely usable. I'm sure food is being wasted because no-one can ask for it in time. I tried twice to request something but each time I had to spend ages watching an ad, then the request button did nothing and I had to go back again.

Utterly useless. No one in my area is posting, or at least I think that's what's going on; I can't tell because searching on a map (along with everything else!) is paywalled?? Plus you have to sign up before you can even see if your neighborhood has anything, which is a slimy policy. There are better apps out there for similar purposes.

Good concept and the app is well implemented for posting, discovery, and messaging. I'm glad that this app made it easy for me to give away things that I don't need anymore, but which other people would benefit from. The pop-ups to support the app are really really annoying though. I get that they need money to support the project, but it feels really frustrating to be harassed and interrupted by the ads several times a day while I'm giving away loads of stuff for free! It honestly made me want to stop using the app and just throw my stuff in the bin. I think if they just made it so that the ads to support only showed at most once every few days, this would be a big improvement. Also their bot is very annoying and there's no way to disable it as far as I can tell. This is detrimental since I want to treat messages from people as high priority and get a sound notification, but I don't want to be spammed by their bot, and there's no way for me to differentiate the two. They should use a separate notification channel for bot messages so I can make them lower priority notifications.
