All in all this ia a great app. I've lost 20 +pounds and have kept it off. I really like the accountability of the progress tracker. the lessons are very informative and the threads are nice in our groups. I never imagined I would lose the weight much less keep it off, but what I've accomplished is a lifestyle change. I'm more aware of what and why I am eating, and when I feel like a cookie, I don't feel bad having one, because the shift in my diet and exercise means I don't have to feel guilty.
Reviews for Omada
← Back to OmadaThe group discussion board is difficult to navigate. The posts are in chronological order (recent to oldest). However, when someone comments on your post or adds to a discussion you are participating in, you cannot view it immediately, you have to look for it. It would be easier if there was a shortcut on the group section. The food tracking is easy to navigate.
it's a great supportive program. I just wish it counted actual calories as an option instead of just general idea of what you eat. but it is less pressure to not micromanage so it's not a bad thing. I like that the scale connects with the app and I can see a timeline of my weight fluctuation. the coaches are always so nice and pleasant. I have lost weight on this program in the past as well.
I'm always wary of these sorts of programs, but this one was honestly life-changing. Totally changed my relationship to food by just shifting my thinking little steps at a time. No BMI. My coach was a great listener, struck a good balance of checking in and giving suggestions. The food log was simple and intuitive, rather than other apps where I have to stress over finding the exact calorie&etc numbers. If your Healthcare gives you access to this, go for it.
only good thing about this app is health coaches. I gave it one star due to the inaccurate algorithm calculating protein, fiber, sugar and fats. it does not credit you for what you actually consume, it is very short. also, the photo of the package part and barcode scanner does not work at all. You'd think that when your insurance forces you to use a certain app for weight loss, the app would work properly.
Besides the fact that the app has minimal functionality compared to other competitor's apps, the scale is completely unreliable and fluctuates 8 to 10 lbs daily without being moved; it is also not suited for larger people with large thighs. Now, my insurance company made it a requirement to use this app or they won't cover certain medications. Forcing people to use this app is reason enough to give it 1 star, but add on all the other issues, and my review will stay this way for a very long time.
The latest update of this app changed the way food is logged and now I can't go back and review older entries. If I click on a day in the past to see what I ate it just shows the first item I entered that day over and over again. for example if I entered coffee, yogurt, and blueberries when I try to view that meal later it shows coffee, coffee, coffee.
They need to add a basic cal tracker... for those of us trying to lose weight on the App it would very beneficial. when it asks to track a meal it should have a option to punch in the cals for those of us who want to track. and possibly chart it with weight chart. its hard enough to lose weight. anything that helps get closer to goal is worth putting.
Still in the initial phase of the program but am a bit flabbergasted with the lack of integration. Example: Pulls my Fitbit activity data but not any other metrics that are recorded there. This causes the need for manual input even though that data is readily available. Honestly, initial sign up was for the free smart scale that ended up having less features than what I already have. Hopefully the program/coaching is better than my initial impressions. Otherwise, more e-waste.
The last update in late May/early June the food barcode scanner was added which was great! However manually adding meals is no longer functional. Before I liked at least being able to add to my food log just for awareness but now that is no longer an option. I don't want to scan each and every bar code every meal.
Great tool for tracking your health care journey. I'm having trouble with the food tracker. The first food item goes in fine. When trying to type the second item, it types the first letter, then when typing the next letter it changes the first letter to the second letter, leaving only the second letter in the field. Hope this is fixed soon, food tracker is my favorite bit. Thank you!!
Google Fit syncing every once in a while syncs workouts/activities, but usually not. Should be a punch list fix for Omada. Otherwise, feedback similar to others. Food tracking could be better, but perhaps to the point is not to agonize over details but rather just spend some time thinking about food choices every day. Scale syncing is great/fast. Overall better than I expected for what is basically an insurance compliance app.
I love the connection to the scale! I also enjoy all of the various groups. I wish the app would connect Garmin devices and not just Samsung Health and Fitbit (I got rid of my Fitbit more than 6 years ago). Google Fit is just ok, but it doesn't capture all of my steps. As a result, I've disconnected Google Fit. I rather manually enter my fitness data until you add Garmin Connect.
My new insurance won't pay for it, and I don't need it enough to pay for it myself. I lost more weight after I lost access, to no fault of the app but because it doesn't help without an equal input of effort on your part. The tracking features are great, it comes with a lot of resources including recipes and exercise guides, and my health coach was super nice and helpful. But you can get MOST of those things for free elsewhere. But, if your insurance covers it, 100000% recommend.
This app was great when I first started using it. They made changes to it and now the food section is horrible. you can put in food easily. It constantly changes what meal you click on. I can't enter everything I eat due to the app no longer allowing it. please go back to the way it was or make it better cause right now it is terrible.
I like the app, it helps me keep things all in one place, food intake, exercise, weight, and my glucose readings. It also has helpful articles and videos. The only thing is the food tracking doesn't always display the correct amount that you need , but overall it's good. I lost 7 pounds in a week by tracking everything. Keeps me mindful and motivates me.
I like the scale and BP direct connect to the app, the coaches are great and helpful as well as the lessons and articles. However, the food tracking is broken-can only add a food name, no nutritional info; bar scanner and picture tracking not even an option. Ive been working with omada via email who keeps telling me I have an outdated version but there is literally not an updates version available in the Google play store. At a loss! I've used other apps that are great for tracking food.
The program is great, but this app is not. The messaging section is constantly screwed up. Currently, I can't even see what I'm trying to type to my coach. If I need to message her, I have to go log on at my computer. I detest this app, and as a result, I know I'm not getting the full value from the program. I was hoping it was an issue from needing to update, but no. It's just poor UX design.
The idea behind the app is great, however food tracking is trash. I have to spend to much time attempting to input a meal to then separately track macros, calories, fat. There are other more useful apps that record these things. Being able to scan the food I'm eating would be amazing! everytime I think I want to use the app, I end up regretting it. I end up flustered. having to re-enter what I entered...
The app is helpful. But thw food tracking sucks. it shows you can take a picture of your food or scan the barcode so you know the calories and the nutrition you're getting. however those two things do not work. so I add them but I have no idea what the calories are cuz it's not helping me with that. so I have to use a different app to keep up with my calories
