So far so good on 911 assistance when I was in a crash. 2 was actual accidents and a few were when the phone fell into the floor from the seat while driving. However it does NOT call my emergency contacts and on one accident in December my husband was 15 miles or so on down the interstate before he knew I had crashed behind him. PLEASE find an update to fix this option. Also would like the option to add more than 3 emergency contacts!
Reviews for Openroad: Help in a Car Crash
← Back to Openroad: Help in a Car CrashDropped my phone on the ground and got several phone calls from law enforcement agencies asking if I was involved in a crash. It notified my family telling them I was involved in a crash. I drop my phone frequently so this app is not for me.
Just installed this app there is no customer service phone number no email address how do you get ahold of somebody to answer ask a question does this app stay on all the time how do you snooze it keeps saying that it's active and on where in down to battery
I don't know how it works as I've never needed it but it's a major battery hog. If you turn on battery optimization it nags you to turn it off. No means no!
A great app with a beautiful user interface. Super useful to have just in case - completely free and no reason not to give it a try
Haven't needed it yet. I don't drive much. I'm retired, and on a fixed budget, ya don't spend much on gas. It jushangs out there, in the background, like a good dog. Nudges you once in a while to let you know it's thinking of you. 😎
I keep getting pop ups from open road to open or close the app but when i open it it doesnt respond...the page just has an icon in the middle and nothing happens...i think my app has crashed! No pun intended! Im gonna have to uninstall it i think cuz its just not working anyway!
THANK YOU. Your company has given me piece of mind, not only for myself but for my family members too. The app is very easy to setup and the installation instructions are clear and concise. Openroad should be installed on all of your family's phones....even if they're too young to drive. At least you'll have the peace of mind when they are a passenger in someone else's vehicle. Like a good Scout will tell you...."Be Prepared".
This app is a great help. My car quit in the road yesterday. I had to hit my brakes real fast and swerve off the road. It called 911 automatically and 3 carloads of police came to help me. They made sure I was alright and pushed my car further out of the road. It ended up having to be towed. Then the tow truck driver and my brother figured out what was wrong with it. The wires going from my fuel pump to my fuse box were loose. They fixed it with a zip tie. I will get a new fuse box next month.
I love this app as it gives me peace of mind in case of experiencing an accident. I have a car phone holder on my dashboard just to keep this app open in case I need assistance. I notice the map does not update to my location, I need to leave the app, and come back for my map location to be current to where I am at. My phone is a Samsung A11.
Pretty cool! Only one inaccuracies of me using my phone while driving, not true. However, to be fair, it's paired with the car, if that is what it's picking up. Overall, I really like it and feel safe knowing it's got my back. I don't drive enough to subscribe to the Onstar.
Getting a load of application crashes when adding contacts or loading history. This is after resetting the app and rebooting phone. Extremely high battery usage as well. Wanted to report, feedback in app crashed as well. Keeping 5 stars as this is a report for a new problem. =)
Great app, just the peace of mind that if I don't respond to their call or text, they will summon help. I had an accident in October 2021, they called in less than a minute, to see if I was alright. I recommend this app to all drivers, especially to the younger and older age group, but good for everyone.
MOST OF THE COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE OUTSIDE TJE UNITED STATES. I believe this app only wants to collect data for its own use. After I installed the app, entered my infrmation, emergency contacts, and then tried to activated the app, the app would not let me use the app unless I gave it permission to read and share my contact information with OpenRoad. So, I uninstalled the app.
Download and setup was easy. Have not had any accidents so not sure how the app will respond. Downloaded the app onto my wife's phone as well but she has not had a wreck yet either. Not sure if this is suppose to do anything else or not. In the unlikely event that an accident does occur I hope it does what it is suppose to do.
Can't get past them wanting full access to my phone. Or that I only want to allow permission when using this app They don't need to have full access to manage my phone calls. I said no and it went to the explanation page, then it would freeze up everytime. Useless!!
Thank God I haven't needed to see it's full potential. But I feel better now knowing that if I do get into an Acident my Emergency contacts will be notified as well as Emergency Response will be there shortly as this App. Notifies them it's a easy to use App. You setup your family or loved ones your contact info in the app. It will automatically contact them if you get into an Acident. Great idea and a Great App. That everyone should have on there Mobile device 👍
It's a good idea but pretty vague on how to use it. The first trip I took I received a response telling me that my first trip was monitored but that's it. I've since gone out on a few other trips but when I check the weekly stats it says 0 trips logged?! The app icon just sits on the top of my phone and when I pull down the drop down menu on my phone the app shows up as "openroad is standing by tap to launch" but when I do this it just brings me to the full app and shows active but that's it!
The access to phone permissions is concerning. Yeah feedback on your driving is great but what's to prevent the app data from being used against you in an accident? Nothing in the FAQ spells that out and without phone permissions the app doesn't work. Does using Android Auto show as using your phone? I'd rather use an app that isn't so intrusive.
First, thanks for this great app! However, there is an issue with the 'ratings' it does on your driving. Living out in the country, it's very common to have to stop abruptly due to animals on the road. The app registers this as your driving is bad in the weekly report. I just ignore this about the app and feel confident in knowing that the app is protecting me. *Would you please add a "panic" option to quietly call 4 help and send your location in the same process as this app?*
