I’ve been using Orca: Boat GPS, Charts, Routes for a couple months now. It’s basically a full-featured navigation app for boaters – you get nautical charts, GPS tracking, weather forecasts, and a ton of other tools to make your time on the water safer and more enjoyable. Pretty solid app if you’re into boating.

Here’s what you can do with it: there’s crisp online and offline charts that are easy to read, satellite hybrid maps that show terrain, and tailored routes for sailboats and powerboats. It’s got a super comprehensive AIS data feed to track other boats around you, plus global marine weather forecasts with temps, winds, tides, and currents. And if you buy the Orca Core 2 accessory, you can even connect it to your boat’s instruments and autopilot.

Look, if you’re a boater who wants a feature-packed navigation app, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the initial setup can be a bit confusing and the ads can get annoying – but overall it does a really good job and is worth checking out.

So here's my honest take on Orca: Boat GPS, Charts, Routes. I've tested a bunch of boating apps and this one's up there with the best. The charts look great, the weather and tides data is super helpful, and the routing tools make planning trips a breeze. Definitely takes some time to figure everything out, but once you get the hang of it, it's a really powerful app. The only downsides are the sometimes cluttered interface and the aggressive ads - but you can pay to remove those. Overall, if you spend a lot of time on the water, I'd say Orca is one of the better options out there.
