Description
Been playing this OruxMaps GP app for a couple months now. It’s basically a map viewer and navigation tool for outdoor activities. Pretty solid app if you’re into hiking, biking, or other adventures.
Here’s what you do: you can use it to download maps for offline use, like USGS maps or custom map formats. There’s also online maps from sources like Mapbox and Google, but you’ll need a subscription for those. It’s got some cool features like tracking your routes and adding waypoints. Took me a while to figure out how to do some of that, but it’s useful once you get the hang of it.
Look, if you’re into outdoor navigation apps, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – there are some ads which can get annoying – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you need a solid map app for your adventures.
Editor Opinion
So here's my honest take on OruxMaps GP. I've tested a bunch of navigation apps and this one's pretty solid overall. The offline maps are great for when you don't have signal, and the tracking features work well. And it's not as polished as some paid apps, but for a free option it's really capable. The only downside is that the UI can be a bit clunky at times, and the ads get old after a while. But if you can live with that, it's a great free app for outdoor activities.
