Reviews for Pacer Pedometer & Step Counter

Updated August 2021. Just using the app on my phone. Works well, and the ads are not obtrusive. Installed 2 years ago and I love it. Recently using the GPS to track daily walks. I'm getting notices of a new version but I'm afraid to update it, for fear that it will require registration, logging in, and other things I have no interest in doing. Developers, please allow the original app to continue to run.

It's good if u want an ideal of how many steps u take per day but just as another review stated, when moving around the house, when ur constantly stopping and starting walking, it doesn't pick up on ur steps right away. At first it was just a few steps it didn't count from time to time, I was fine with that but a moment when I was intentionally walking and looking for the number to change, it didn't change at all. It didn't count over 30 steps I had taken. On this note, I have to try another app

I have loved the GPS tracking for when I walk but since the last update, it doesn't seem to be functioning correctly. It will track mileage up to 0.3 or so and then stay at that mileage. It is still counting the correct number of steps so I think there is a bug in that last update. Hope you can fix it soon. I've used this app for the last 2 years and have loved it & shared it with many friends.

This app would be perfect if it had a one time purchase option. Even if it was a little higher than your average app. I hate having to keep paying on something year after year that doesn't get much different over time. That is called gouging. And the yearly price is outrageous just for one year. I will/would never pay it. "One time payment", not only would buy it I would tell others all about it and convince them to buy it if they were looking for a pedometer app.

Edit: Took off a star because I can't figure out how to stop getting charged for the ad-free version. There was no way to cancel in the app, and under "Manage Subscriptions" all it says is that my free trial is over and how much I'll be charged each month, no "Cancel" option. I'm going to go into my Google Pay account to see if I can revoke permissions for it, but it shouldn't be that complicated.

I use it to track how far I walk the dog each day, it does track all the other stats that are interesting. May I make a suggestion? It would be nice if it showed a stat on your avg walking speed per mile. Sometimes, usually rarely, it stops counting my steps and I don't catch it until I've walked for an hour. I think this is a useful app for my needs.

really liked this app at first. i have the premium version but i just cancelled it after about 3 months. i was disappointed with the "Coach" that is available with eating tips etc. i got daily tips for about a week and nothing since. Also disappointed that you can't see the total step count during the pre-set workouts. I also cannot change the persons voice from female to male. Last thing is the time is off but at least 15 minutes. I know when i do an hour workout its not 75 minutes.

I don't know what happened, I have used this app for well over a year and it worked fine. But the last few weeks it's been severely over counting steps, like just tonight I went from 16k to 33k in an hour. That is a bug, I was walking, not running, there is no way that is even close to accurate. To add to this the bar graph that tell you how much you walked by the hour is completely broken. It is now just a blue block as there is just bar after bar, all the same length, at every hour.

Pretty cool app.👍🏾 I especially like how it communicates with the nutrition app, My Fitness Pal. It sends your "calories burned" info to the nutrition app. They then work together to provide you info of how many more or how many less calories you need to consume in order to meet your weight goals. Only thing I'm not happy about is that the "Coach" no longer sends you free motivational messages and notifications. 😔

App has been great. It gives me options to keep track of my steps, my weight, it estimates my burned calories and it syncs up to MyFitnessPal so the info is transferred automatically. This app allows me to enter different challenges, based on the number of steps, on the diatance ive travelled, and i can also join groups for team challenges. The only one complaint and the reason I don't give the full 5 stars is the presence of way too many spammers. If the app could control that it would get 5.

This app could be better. I wish that it could connect with fitbit without having to pay. The google fit doesn't properly keep track of the steps or samsung health. Other than that, the app is great. I set up a walk challenge, which is going wonderful. But... I wish those who were in the challenge were automatically added to the group.

Up until recently this app was so dependable, it counted every step I took. I may not have opened it every day, but when I would open it to update my mules for a distance challenge I'm doing, everything was there. Recently, I opened Pacer, and to my shock, weeks of data were missing. I walk every day with my phone and there was nothing to show for it. It now seems very sporadic and not dependable.

Update.. 2023. Same issue. Has not been resolved! This app is a waste of time if you travel between time zones. The steps change each time you travel because it doesn't know what to adjust between gain or lost hours when flying. I reported this for over a years and all I get is "this is a known issue". Does not appear they are working on fixing it. Don't waste your time on this APP even though it's free and don't consider paying for the ads-free version.

It's okay, not great, and I wouldn't suggest it if it didn't have really cool challenges. Things are in odd places. For example, log activity should be one of the first things you see. But you have to scrolls for it, making it easy to miss. This then makes the calorie counter is drastically off because it seems to just count calories burned from walk. The log activity button only seems to be in one place, but there are so many times suggested workouts comes up. The app is just so clunky.

I've tried about 9 of these pedometer apps, and so far this is the best. The two biggest problems with most of them are constant (and un-closable) ads. Pacer has very few of these. The other problem is that most of these apps award me far more steps than I've actually taken (yes, I counted steps carefully). Pacer does give me a few extra steps each time, but way less than the 6-10% error rate I've found on other apps. The free version doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but that's ok.

The app serves the purpose I originally needed, but since you can't change your step goal without going premium, I can't put it above two stars anymore. Mine is stuck at 6,000 and due to multiple foot surgeries, I'm no longer capable of that, but I can't change it without going premium. Otherwise, the app works well and if this weren't an issue, I'd put it back at four or five stars.

Please fix your app! I'd like to do some of your challenges, but there's no way to do it if it's going to randomly pull 4 times the number of actual steps with no way to correct it. I've tried everything, including uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling. Changing the data source and resynching the data (it doesn't replace the information and doesn't pull from the specified data source). The app is what everything is based on , so it's essential it works properly.

Enjoyed using this app back in 2022 to track my daily fitness activities and connect with friends. Keeping each other motivated to complete fitness goals. Oct 4, 2025 - The app is not tracking steps correctly! This is not the 1st time...I guessit has been for about a year now! Out of frustration today I decided to updae my feedback! I restarted my phone this morning, checked for app upgrade...none pending. I have walked 1.5 hours and it only recorded 40 minutes!

unreliable and hazardous to mental health because no matter what you do it isn't accurate. Did a test day and because I don't have an expensive smart watch Pacer "relied" on my phone in my pocket. even with GPS tracking a 2 mile route didn't register a half mile. Spent hours trying to figure out the problem. My 2 watches that are different brands counted steps in sync but phone & pacer had 2 different amounts of steps. Waste of time and technology. Sets you up to fail.

used to really like this app, but the notifications increased as of late and their "encouraging" notifications to get you to reach your goal can be quite snarky and sarcastic - not exactly motivating to me - incredibly annoying and obnoxious!! I went into settings to try to eliminate them, but nothing seems to be working. Most likely going to remove the app from my phone.
