Content is good but too often get "video cannot be played" message (error code 6000). When that happens, can't watch anything on Paramount +. Days later it will start working again out of the blue. Paramount + support said it's a commonly reported issue that they are working to fix. Feb 13, 2025, I received email saying they're working to solve the "known issue", but haven't heard anything since. BTW, customer support said they don't know how long it will take to fix this issue.
Reviews for Paramount+
← Back to Paramount+Chromecast app is subpar. When watching the live TV portion, you are only live for about 3 minutes before it pauses itself to buffer constantly, and then it just stops showing completely. When on normal streaming content, ads constantly have audio but no video is shown, which then causes long delays when the actual show starts. The regular phone app is decent, but it's like they've put the bare minimum effort into the chromecast app, which diminishes the overall value of this streaming service.
The worst streaming app available. Another service ended with NCIS so I decided to pick back up with Paramount to finish the seasons. I have just about every other streaming platforms and they all work fine. My internet is 1gb so there is no issue there. Paramount buffers constantly, jumps, skips, and crashes, and even often jumps back to the beginning of an episode, mid-episode for no apparent reason. The quality is horrible. Why am I paying a premium price for this?
This is by far the worst streaming service. Like many others they have shows I can't watch anywhere else. But apparently I can't even watch them with this app. If it decides to open and starts a show it crashes everytime a commercial finishes. They only way to start a show again is to force close the app and watch the same commercial again. Then it usually crashes before the actual show starts. This is the same issue the app has over a year ago. Paramount has made no improvements.
I had no problem with this app on my phone or TV. Then about a month ago my subscription renewed, more expensive and included Showtime, but now I have commercials that before I didn't. And the App won't let me watch anything now, I uninstalled, installed many times. No way to contact anyone to talk about the problem. If I don't get it solved soon, I'll be looking for another streaming service
Doesn't always start the show - sometimes it just spins. Warning - if you choose to pay for a year instead of monthly - you're stuck - no refunds. Also can't add Showtime unless you are on the monthly plan. My biggest frustration is I can't turn off autoplay - at the completion of an episode it immediately starts playing something - and the app decides what to play next. For a while it kept trying to force me to watch The Good Fight - now it starts Twilight Zone without any action on my part. This forces me to stop playing the episode I didn't want before I can select what I want to watch next. Makes me mad every single time. But, I canceled cable, and between this app and Hulu I can see over 90% of the broadcast TV shows I like to watch. I paid for the commercial free version and have no issues with commercials. Video and sound quality is also fine. I'm primarily using on a Sony android TV.
Terrible. Can't even get into the app on my tv. I just keep getting the same message, "An error has occurred. (2) RETRY" I've tried every possible fix, as advised by a live agent, via chat. The agent eventually said, "since doing basic troubleshooting steps as a work around still didn't fix the problem, the best thing I could do right now is to escalate this to our Technical Support to fix the issue for you. You will receive an update via email within 24 to 48 hours. What a complete joke!
Totally broken. Literally won't play any movies or TV shows on my Nvidia Shield TV. I use chromecast with roughly a 30% success rate instead, and I can't even begin to describe how angry I am at the constant errors and failures. This app is trash, and Paramount is holding a few of my favorite shows hostage on this platform, so I constantly am forced to deal with it. I absolutely hate it. Edit: audio doesn't sync correctly now, so it's even worse now. I honestly didn't think that was possible...
If I could give it a ZERO I would. It's super slow. When a commercial finishes, it doesn't even bring you back to the spot you leave off on. You have to fast forward to get it it. If you pause sometimes it restarts the app. It's skips. The worst app I've ever used. I have been trying to cancel for TWO HOURS. All I get is the run around.
This app is the worst of all the streaming apps on the ShieldTV. We regularly use Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Hulu, and even Peacock. Even Peacock runs smoother, loads faster. Extremely long load times for any content. Like minutes sometimes. Then, it may fail to load at all. Highly unwatchable. Updates never resolve the issues. Functionality is wonky. Like they're trying to reinvent the standard viewing controls, making them worse than useless. For example, when you're trying to jump past the opening credits and pick the last frame of those credits, it jumps a few seconds into the show, instead of at the end of the credits. Annoying. I could live with the wonky controls, lack of favorites, weird layout if the load times were improved. And I don't think its our internet speed as the above mentioned streaming services all are either faster to load, more predictable to load, or will actually load. Zero stars.
just like most of the recent reviews, this app is absolute trash on Chromecast. far more often than not, I have to either restart the device multiple times or uninstall and reinstall the app to get anything to play. the Paramount Plus intro and, of course, the ads, all seem to play fine. it's just the content, that I actually paid for by the way, is quite literally a no-show
The app appears to at least be playing recorded videos now, however even with the paid subscription through my Walmart+ membership, I can only rate this app at about a 2. I was able to watch the full first episode of Knuckles without having to deal with intrusive ads, but since then, they seem to happen so often, I'm spending more time away from the TV than watching the episodes as a result of these ads, so use of the app is NOT an enjoyable experience...
The app uses entirely too much processing and slows my TV. These andoid smart TVs are not PCs. So quit forcing app control of the TV to the point where I am holding the fast forward or pause, etc... and get a hesitant or non responsive app while playing the movie. I then go and check if there are any updates, and no updates. Your app is the only one out of 5 TV or Movie streaming apps that I have trouble with. None of the others have ever presented the hangups that yours presents with my 43 inch Sony Bravia. Is there a reason you have to do things so differently than the others that makes your app suck so bad compared to the others.
Paramount Plus has a lot of great options, but the app is broken to the point that 95% of the time an ad is supposed to play it freezes or kicks back to the main menu. The rare occasion an add actually plays it waits between 1 and 3 minutes before starting. On top of all this if you make it through a whole episode (unlikely) the chances of proper audio sync is 50/50 at best.
"App contains adds" is an understatement. Many breaks throughout programming. They even put ads before the credits/end of the show. IMO, the service should be free if you are subjected to commercials. If you pay, you should have an ad-free experience. Paramount (minus) is the worst of both worlds. This also the only streaming app that has a problem with buffering. Got this service for a discount. Couldn't imagine paying full price for the same experience.
I have a TCL tv, and Paramount+ is the only app that will not stream correctly. It buffers too often, will pause for a long time, then kick us out of the app, or it won't even connect at all, and it won't Chromecast from phone to tv. It's disappointing to know we pay to use the app, but nothing is being done to rectify the problems.
I love the shows on Paramount, but it takes me more than 2 hours to watch a 60 minute like Star Trek, Strange New Worlds or Criminal Minds, Evolution, it's bloody frustrating! The constant freezing during the commercials, the inability to immediately get back to the right spot after the commercials drives me insane! I have Apple TV+, Hulu, Netflix for free and Peacock for $3.99...none of these EVER freeze. I pay the most to you, so Please Fix The Problem. Thank you.
Clearly broken and it doesn't seem they want to fix it. I have 2 Sony TV's running on Android TV. This app used to work, but for the past couple months I get sound and no picture. The adds play fine (on my ad free subscription SMH), but once the show or movie starts, black screen with audio. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no impact. There isn't much point in paying for this subscription if Paramount doesn't seem to care that we can't watch the content.
I have a Hisense Android TV and had success with the app until a month or so ago. Now the app never loads, it's always saying it's optimizing playback, then it'll say the video is unavailable. I can watch it on a Roku no problem though. They need to fix the app where it works regardless of it being Android, Google, Roku etc. They've got some bugs to fix. Even casting to my TV from my phone doesn't work anymore, and I always had success with that.
the app constantly freezes once a commercial or ad comes on. and then I'm unable to continue my show. so I'm able to watch maybe 15 to 20 minutes of a show before a commercial comes on and then freezes. and I have not found an easy solution to get back to the show. sometimes I can come back, and the ad will start over. however, it often freezes again once the ad finishes, causing me to watch more ads than the actual show. and it's very frustrating to see how many people have given feedback, yet in app that should have a team for this has not done anything to fix it. it is also frustrating that there is nowhere to submit feedback when issues like this occur outside of the review section.
