Reviews for Penly: Digital Planner & Notes

← Back to Penly: Digital Planner & Notes

Penly is a really unique app. The flexibility to change fonts and hand writes them is amazing! I'm using it on my samsung tab and I'm loving it! However, for the price I paid, it would be bette if you support the "handwriting to text" feature in Japanese language. I also would have prefered if you have a button to record audio while writing notes (like samsung notes or goodnotes). Other than that, the app is definitely worth trying.

really love this app for my digital planning. I was wasting so much money on paper planners I was never using and this is really helping me keep my life organized. I wish there was a way to flip images/stickers to it's a mirror image in app (vs editing in another app & uploading to penly). it would also be really cool if there was a way to lock images/stickers on the page.

I'm still learning how to use this app but so far I love it! It communicates with multiple devices so you can edit on one device and it will update on all if you tell it to. I *really* wish there was a PC version though. I have smaller devices so it can be tedious to edit things and it would be extremely beneficial if I could also have this on my laptop.

It's a good app with a lot of potential. Hoping they will add ability to copy and paste text both within and external to the app. E.g copying and pasting text from Penly into your browser or into your calendar app. Also, on android, if you're using a Happy Downloads planner with Google calendar links, Penly doesn't open the links with your Google calendar app. It only opens into a web browser and then you have to login to Google from the browser.

Awesome. They were so thoughtful creating the app. PENLY HAS BEEN MY LIFE SAVER for digital scrapping and such. I can load my deco in the sticker section and upload different planners or scrapbooks. My handwriting is atrocious in any app but Penly has given me the ability to import fonts which is great. I can't figure out if there's a way to flatten things, but I'll get it! Coming from one PDF app that was all free for a long time and then it was sold and they want to charge $108 a year. No Ads

Non rainbow color available! I almost didn't purchase your app for my husband to try because all the photos show rainbow colors, which I kinda like. You would probably get more male buyers if you add a photo of the black notebook. The different notebook colors were not easy to notice in the photos. Will update stars after I try the app. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

App is great, but lost two stars because it *needs* dark mode and a way to bulk-import fonts (adding and sorting them one at a time is a PITA). Otherwise, very easy and fun to use. I've used it to make stickerbooks, my D&D character's journal and written letters, and a regular journal/planner for myself. ETA: Added a star for updated dark mode!!

I wish I had known about this app before... I've been using this for about a month and I'm digging it! I love that it came with free planners! The portrait planner looks so good when I pull it up on my phone! I love that it syncs. LOVE the sticker folders! The ability to download different fonts. The only thing that would make this app more amazing is if we could paste stickers from native keyboard. Amazing app for the price!!!

I don't know if there was a recent update, but all of a sudden I'm not able to import photos from gallery view on my Samsung Galaxy tab. It was working great before, now the import screen looks different, and I have to scroll through a ton of photos to find the correct image I want. (I keep 6 months of kits/stickers on my device.) Please fix this. I don't want to have to change apps.

Too Monotonus for me, it takes too much to insert a picture or change color of pen, etc. for this to be a useful journal for me, its just too much especially since there is no app for windows. I rather just stick with pen and paper. There is a lot of customization that can be done with this app, which is a plus but it needs a Windows based app as well.

To be honest, I was a little concerned purchasing this app. Their advertising is very female oriented, the reviews also, and I wasn't interested in stickers of cats all over my planner and notebook. But I took the risk, and I'm glad I did. This app is a true game-changer in the way it allows you to manipulate PDFs, and especially the built in planner/journal. It has changed my work flow for the better. It would be nice if it had more common PDF reader features as well, but not a huge deal.

Nice app for digital planning! One suggestion I have is to allow a single page view. I am using this on a phone (note 10 plus) and having just one page view would make it easier on a phone (less zooming). Also, having a choice for vertical toolbar (on left or right side) would be great. My top toolbar has icons being overlapped that I cannot see. If it was vertical, it would allow more icons to show without me having to change orientation.

I bought this app last year to start my digital planner. It's been pretty good for the most part, my only complaint I've had it can be glitchy/buggy. The fonts won't stay/ change when I want. The text box contents will even delete on their own if I try and move them from where I typed them on the page. I've had issues with my keyboard also not registering when I try and type. It got a little frustrating. Overall it works well just needs to work on the kinks hope it gets an update soon.

It's literally my favorite app to take digital notes. It's extremely easy to use, the planner templates that come with it are super cute, and the palm rejection is AMAZING. My tablet came noteshelf free, and I don't regret paying for this at all. I love it! The only thing I would put in the app is the option to sync the documents into other platforms like one drive.

So far so good! I was using a free app, but I'm glad I decided to try this! Editing and adding to my digital planner after creating it in Canva has been so much easier. I do wish there was an option to set the text alignment to left, right, or center so my text can look a little nicer, and also have the ability for stickers and fonts to sync... but so far, I am enjoying it!

I like this app a lot. I really wish that the button on my sPen could erase without breaking my flow, and that I had the option to either erase the stroke as it seems to be now, or more precise. As it is, it's a pain to stop what I'm doing every time I need to fix a mistake and change the selected tool and then I have to just delete the whole thing and start again. I would also like to be able to export the pdf, and/or save backups to my cloud service.

Everything is OK, but they market that this could be used as Notes for school. Unfortunately, there is no way to take notes while recording your lectures. Yes you can take notes but no there is no voice recording. I also agree that this is highly customizable but things are buried. I'm surprised that they don't have some sort of quick menu that could be toggled on by your pen to do simple changes like pick a new color or switch pen types. Needs improvement to beat samsung notes, or goodness.

I like it a LOT more than Samsung Notes. However, there are some small annoyances with it. I love that I can use custom fonts, but because I use them, I use a LOT of individual text boxes. It's annoying to have to tap the select tool to deselect the current text box and then switch back to the text tool to select a new one. I'd like to just tap outside of the current text box to deselect it. Also, I love being able to change text spacing, but it only lets you increase the space, not decrease. 😥

Best note taking app that I've tried! It is easy to use and has lots of tutorials on Youtube. I keep my notes well organized now! Although, there is a little detail that is uncomfortable to me. When I select a tool (text, for example), I can't move through the note nor zoom in or out unless I unselect that tool. I hope that they can add a setting to be able to move while a tool is selected. Nevertheless, great note taking app! It was worth the payment.

Excellent, but... This app is a game changer when it comes to note taking, drawing, journaling, and works great with any device that has s pen or apple pen. However, I wish the app had finger drawing as well. This will make the app more flexible and diverse to other devices with no s pen or apple pen. A good example, the Samsung Fold 7 which no longer supports s pen (sadly).
