Reviews for Philips Hue

It does not connect to an outdoor motion sensor at all, neither to any of my dimmer swotches. No matter what I do and what I tried, and reaert them multiple times, I've wasted over an hour already. Very frustrating!!!!!!!! Also, when I got a new phone, the app cannot connect to an existing bridge because it says it's already connected to another home.

Works well but Google home is buggy, used to work fine, now it works but it also says "can't reach hue", right after execution of a command. So how can it adjust lights if it can't reach hue? Also the geofencing does not work properly, if you leave the fence area and return but don't have service or wifi until inside the fence , the action is not taken. The app on the phone should determine if u r coming or going and issue the cmnd as soon as you have connectivity. 3 star.

The old app was better, it was easier to use and always able to discover new lights. It takes me hours to get lucky enough to add one new light. Even if I use the Serial Numbers, the new lights just blank. Since I have 4 hubs and close to 150 lights; I think I have some experience in adding lights. Get ready for a lot of headaches folks when adding new lights.

Updated app again today, still a big mistake. The app had me log in (why? Other apps update and stay logged in!). Screen did not go beyond the log in. I'm sure my Hue lights need software updates, which I was planning to do but can't. I don't want to go thru the whole process again of setting up groups etc. Fortunately they still work fine with Alexa controlling them by voice command.

I've had this system now for a few years and last night (October 25, 2020) it stopped working. It keeps saying that it can't find the bridge and to make sure that is on the same Wi-Fi. No problem with my Wi-Fi & live alone, no pets, pretty much it's router & bridge have been untouched. I'm not the only one having this issue. Until they give us a fix, this rating is going to stand.

Works well...when it works and it often doesn't work. Routines randomly stop working, or work one day but not the next. Support (which is just a list of FAQ - no live support) says 'delete and redo the routine' but that didn't help. Worked well the first couple of years, now I never know if the lights will be on or not. When I replace it, it won't be with another Hue device.

STOP AUTO-RESTARTING. I do not need the app running in the background, and any app that automatically restarts itself in the background every 8 to 12 hours is spyware. I infrequently use the app (haven't used it in at least a week, and typically use it once or twice a month to adjust outdoor lighting), and once the bridge is set up, the app is not necessary unless I want to make changes. However, I keep finding this app restarted and running in the background for no valid reason. FIX IT.

Please keep working on the app. 3 complaints. #1 the app constantly disconnects from the hub when closed and you have to wait a few seconds for the app to connect every time you open it. I'm constantly waiting. #2, i want to mix sunset routines with absolute time. like lights come on at subset and off at 11pm. let me do this! Finally, the location awareness sucks. I pull into my driveway and have to open the app for it to realize I am home and to execute the come home routine and turn lights on.

Wake up automation stopped working June 20, 2024. Morning of 6/20, lights failed to turn on over scheduled time range. 6/21, once again failed. I went into the settings and moved it to a couple hours later, and that worked. Put it back to usual time for next day. 6/22, worked as expected. 6/23, failed again. I restarted the hub. 6/24, worked as expected. 6/25, failed again. My setup had been working mostly fine since September 2020, apart from lights sometimes randomly turning off on their own.

App was good for a year. I have 4 recessed lights, and up until I updated, the app worked perfectly. Then it only connected to one light, then the app lost three of the lights altogether. Not just failing to connect, they disappeared from the app. I uninstalled the app then reinstalled. It took 2 hours to connect and could only connect to 3 lights. Five hours later, 3 connected lights failing again. But my daughter, who has an iphone is experiencing zero issues! Clearly and android issue.

Terrible. App doesnt REALLY let you customize anything, but it lets you make an automation that usually wont work. Most of the time it chooses its own color and ignores any input, if you manage to get it to turn on at all. Little more than a headache, youll end up getting out of bed to unplug the thing at bedtime, which defeats the entire purpose of the thing. Recommend trying a different brand, this one is not the one and the app is largely useless. Oh, and they collect a ton of obscure data.

In order to use routines in every day life you need to turn on your selected routine Every. Single. Day. You can't just select the days of the week. Also, there's no option to turn off fade in. I'm very sensitive to light and the lowest setting is for 10 mins. That means I'll likely wake up much earlier than I intended. Please give us more features.

Worked great for a while, but as of this past update, I'm having similar issues as everyone else. App constantly just says, "Failed to connect," and the only way is to remove any lights I have and re-connect them only to have to repeat this same cycle every time I turn the lights off. I'll change my review if it gets fixed. My girlfriend on iPhone has no issues.

Its awesome, most of the time. The hue lights are excellent. The ability to control them with the phone, their longevity, all the cool programs, the automation, the light range and dimmability. All of that is awesome. The app, is not awesome. Its acceptable. When it works it works great,. When it doesn't work, you'll spend 20 minutes trying to get it to connect to the bridge, after which you'll be inclined to assess your life choices for buying fancy Bluetooth bulbs.

it's okay. all though the reason for only 4 stars instead of 5. Is that it would be nice if it had at least a few more of the cool affects that some of the other apps have like lightning going along to music and stuff like that. also it is frustrating that it has no option to beade to have easier access on your phone such as a prompt name that changes the lights with your voice or an always on display screen option. but still it does work decently considering it is free.

Unusable since the last update... Freezes on the loading screen. Need to restart the phone for it to work and then again, it will freeze again at some point later that day. It does this every single day. Doesn't matter if I clear the cache. That's without mentioning how slow the app has become when it does load, not so much once you're in the app but opening it quickly just to change a scene takes time because it's so slow to start.

I've had these for over two years after thinking for a very long time on whether I wanted to buy into the hype or not. They've become so ingrained to my daily life, I don't ever want to switch back. I have them set to turn on when my alarms go off automatically - much easier waking. I set them to dim and calming colors before bed. I set them to a nice clear, bright light when reading or focusing. They're great. The only thing I'm dissatisfied with is why I didn't get them sooner.

The bulbs are fine. The app is not. It lacks functions that even cheap competitors offer in their apps, such as more robust grouping/rooms, timers, and custom rules. I don't have a Bridge, so maybe that's why I lack these features? But other brands manage without it, so it's not an excuse. Philips Hue has the benefit of longevity, whereas these cheaper brands disappear after a while. Were it not for that, I wouldn't use PH at all.

App was bad years ago, used Hue Essentials to control them since it was better. Got a new modem/router today and needed to set things up again. Couldn't do it, got a white Android error page on the screen to confirm my lights with the bridge. Updated to a newer version of the app hoping that'd fix it, but it got worse. The Hue splash screen comes up, but it never does anything after waiting for minutes and closing the app multiple times. Totally non functional. My expensive lights are worthless.

Setting up a switch for a specific light requires a room and a zone and then you can't have it just turn the light on and off. No, you have to select the behavior of the light, none of which let you easily select a specific color. they only present a color wheel that is impossible to select the same color on two lights. I should be able to say a switch is for just a light or a whole room or a zone. I shouldn't have to have all three. Also, the behaviors simply suck. not every light needs them.
