Reviews for Picture Mushroom - Mushroom ID

Didn't realise it was a yearly expense but this is by far the best app for beginner to advanced mycologists! I'm happy to pay for the service as it is so much better that it's contemporaries. The catalogue of data is pretty large, the identification features are good and detailed. It gives a list of possible mushrooms from one picture. My only gripe with this app so far is the fact that when selecting images mushrooms you can only do one at a time, stopping my from dropping albums of fungi.

Strike one: forcing users to create an account for an app that by its nature and functionality absolutely does not require one. Strike two: expensive recurring subscription plans only, with no possibility to purchase the software once and for all. Strike three: does require almost ideal pictures of the object in terms of distance, angle, lighting etc. to identify it correctly. Forcing users to create an account and ripping us off ad infinitum means that this milkingware is now being uninstalled.

It's definitely the best mushroom identification app. Suggestions: 1. Allow more than the 3 most likely species, so if the identification is fairly loose/ambiguous, I can scroll further to mine potential matches. 2. If the suggested matches aren't correct, I should be able to do a search with text to find the right species from a list. 3. I should be able to select a region, (like Australia) which would deprioritize international suggestions since we only get certain species.

It's OK. I can't identify mushrooms in the field when I don't have service. I've corrected a few mushrooms that it falsely identified. It falsely identified a Jellied false coral as Cauliflower. I can't corrected it because they don't have it in their data base. The best that I can do is to put the correct name in the comment. They need to add a feature for us to put in the correct ID when they don't have it in their data base.

This app is almost perfect. For uploads of past photos at home - you should pull the GPS data from the photo, instead of using the phone's current location. Otherwise, the mushroom location is marked as your home. :/ I can edit the mushroom type, but there is no way to edit location/GPS data. An ability to do so would be nice.

Very useful app, it doesn't identify all fungi but does a pretty good job. I have found mushrooms that I can't find in books, so no method is infallible. With time, this app will only get better and better. The cost is a bit prohibitive for me as all these subscriptions add up. Gone are the days you could just buy a program outright. This program is a real winner all the same.

This app looked promising, BUT... I haven't had a chance to try it. Why? Because the trial version comes with a "catch": once you select Trial, you are automatically registered to pay from day 7 on. And if you forget about this choice, ir will start sucking money from your credit xard on a weekly basis. Sorry, guts, but this looks like a dubious sale practice. That besides the fact the your subscription is too expensive, and they tend to be year-long, while mushrooms don't grow all year long!

Works as expected, in my experience pretty accurate results. However when you subscribe or take free trial keep in mind it will renew subscription for the entire year and not for example another week / month. A bit sneaky, -1 star for that. But they do say it at the bottom. Oh and they have weekly subscription for a very decent price, its great !

Ok. Hit and miss. Better than other apps for common species, but expensive imo. Mainly based in US species by the looks of it. (£26-€30 per year). A bit odd it having so many 5* ratings as when you look through the reviews there are also many low scores. Edit: Great improvement picture load time from phone gallery from 30 secs a month ago to now 3 secs.

I love that there is a free trial but the yearly subscription is too expensive for what you get. If it was a 1 time fee I would consider it. This info seems to be crowd sourced. Out of 8 mushrooms I submitted only 3 were correctly ID'd. Even if it is incorrect it is labeled as correct and you have to go back in to fix it and then you have to enter the right name for it (ID it yourself.) You can not copy text from the site which is annoying when cross referencing the info elsewhere. App freezes.

I still think I'm a novice at mushroom hunting, but for the last year I've found this app very useful and mostly quite accurate. Caution should still always be advised to double check the results against a recognised guide, and to check for look-a-likes, and compare as many images as you can. Never pick anything you don't need (leave it for nature), and never eat anything you are not 100% sure on.

Better if you could set the zone to exclude impossible matches and it has often been incorrect for me. I am glad we got the trial because this doesn't help with a lot of the similar looking ones. Also adding a "commonly mistaken for" section or ability to narrow when the options presented are not correct. Like "No these were not correct" and it then asks "Does it have XYZ?"

They make it look perfect in the preview pictures, but when I first open the app, the first thing I see is a 'give us money' screen. You have to pay! You get a free trial for 7 days, but you need to COMMIT TO PAY. Credit card and everything. cancel any time, but there are no free options that do not require a subscription. It sais nothing about that in the description.

I downloaded the app so I could identify a large number of different mushrooms in my garden. Registered for a free trial, used the app for 5 minutes and then realised I had been charged £25.99! Not happy at all, had I known I was going to be charged I would not have used the app. Wording needs to be clearer as I'm not the only one this has happened to. I will be pursuing a full refund. who do I contact for a refund?

DO NOT GET THIS APP! Any forager worth their water knows that ID apps just don't cut it. It doesn't matter how good you think it is, you NEED something more in-depth. A dichotomous key, spore prints, and multiple specimens are paramount, you simply cannot know for sure without these things. People can die from misidentification, and though mushrooms that can kill you when ingested aren't the most common, you will surely make yourself sick using this app. DO. NOT. INSTALL.

App either would open and immediately close, or it would take forever to load after taking a photo or it would reject and tell me it's having connection issues, which was a bunch of bull#&@*! Because nothing else seemed to be having issues, I'd Definitely like a full refund, plus it doesn't even tell you if they are toxic, edible, or uses per id. It's basically useless and I would recommend not installing this dum& app. Crock of shananigins!!!

It took me awhile to use this app with my photos, particularly when it needed to be sized down to be within the apps frame. Pinching down with one hand, while pressing the button with the other is a bit awkward. However, the rest of the app is a real asset when foraging for mushrooms. I am amazed at the number of positive i.d.'s that it comes up with.

Trial Subscription Not Transparent - Signed up for a $1.99 month trial. Was notified of new charges, in less than a month. When directed on how to cancel, received confirmation the cancelation would be in 1 year. Tried to get customer support, and was then told the "cancelation" was for the auto renewal in a year and had to go back and forth before getting confirmation of canceling of subscr at the end of the month. Had to also get a refund on a 2nd $36.00 charge on my account. Ridiculous!

I signed up for a month to try it out. They charged me for a year. When I looked around in the app to figure out how to cancel the subscription, there was nothing. No information in the help nothing. I emailed support and they did tell me how to go into subscriptions in Google Play and cancel. However the fact that there is no mention of how to cancel a subscription in the app strikes me as intentional. They know that small barriers will put many people off and they will forget. It's shady.

While the app did technically work, their free trial and subscription model felt almost predatory. If you selected the free trial, they automatically set you up with the one year subscription. Not the one month or the one week. The one YEAR. Which is $30. Kinda steep for missing the cut-off day by 3 days. I would definitely stay away from this app.
