Reviews for Picture Mushroom – Mushroom ID

Didn't realise it was a yearly expense but this is by far the best app for beginner to advanced mycologists! I'm happy to pay for the service as it is so much better that it's contemporaries. The catalogue of data is pretty large, the identification features are good and detailed. It gives a list of possible mushrooms from one picture. My only gripe with this app so far is the fact that when selecting images mushrooms you can only do one at a time, stopping my from dropping albums of fungi.

Strike one: forcing users to create an account for an app that by its nature and functionality absolutely does not require one. Strike two: expensive recurring subscription plans only, with no possibility to purchase the software once and for all. Strike three: does require almost ideal pictures of the object in terms of distance, angle, lighting etc. to identify it correctly. Forcing users to create an account and ripping us off ad infinitum means that this milkingware is now being uninstalled.

It's definitely the best mushroom identification app. Suggestions: 1. Allow more than the 3 most likely species, so if the identification is fairly loose/ambiguous, I can scroll further to mine potential matches. 2. If the suggested matches aren't correct, I should be able to do a search with text to find the right species from a list. 3. I should be able to select a region, (like Australia) which would deprioritize international suggestions since we only get certain species.

It's OK. I can't identify mushrooms in the field when I don't have service. I've corrected a few mushrooms that it falsely identified. It falsely identified a Jellied false coral as Cauliflower. I can't corrected it because they don't have it in their data base. The best that I can do is to put the correct name in the comment. They need to add a feature for us to put in the correct ID when they don't have it in their data base.

This app is almost perfect. For uploads of past photos at home - you should pull the GPS data from the photo, instead of using the phone's current location. Otherwise, the mushroom location is marked as your home. :/ I can edit the mushroom type, but there is no way to edit location/GPS data. An ability to do so would be nice.

Very useful app, it doesn't identify all fungi but does a pretty good job. I have found mushrooms that I can't find in books, so no method is infallible. With time, this app will only get better and better. The cost is a bit prohibitive for me as all these subscriptions add up. Gone are the days you could just buy a program outright. This program is a real winner all the same.

This app looked promising, BUT... I haven't had a chance to try it. Why? Because the trial version comes with a "catch": once you select Trial, you are automatically registered to pay from day 7 on. And if you forget about this choice, ir will start sucking money from your credit xard on a weekly basis. Sorry, guts, but this looks like a dubious sale practice. That besides the fact the your subscription is too expensive, and they tend to be year-long, while mushrooms don't grow all year long!

Works as expected, in my experience pretty accurate results. However when you subscribe or take free trial keep in mind it will renew subscription for the entire year and not for example another week / month. A bit sneaky, -1 star for that. But they do say it at the bottom. Oh and they have weekly subscription for a very decent price, its great !

Ok. Hit and miss. Better than other apps for common species, but expensive imo. Mainly based in US species by the looks of it. (£26-€30 per year). A bit odd it having so many 5* ratings as when you look through the reviews there are also many low scores. Edit: Great improvement picture load time from phone gallery from 30 secs a month ago to now 3 secs.

I love that there is a free trial but the yearly subscription is too expensive for what you get. If it was a 1 time fee I would consider it. This info seems to be crowd sourced. Out of 8 mushrooms I submitted only 3 were correctly ID'd. Even if it is incorrect it is labeled as correct and you have to go back in to fix it and then you have to enter the right name for it (ID it yourself.) You can not copy text from the site which is annoying when cross referencing the info elsewhere. App freezes.
