I used to really love this app, but I'm finding increasingly that it's very inaccurate and very inconsistent especially with younger plants. I'll use picture this to try to identify a young plant to determine whether or not I want to pull it, and then months later I'll check it again and it tells me it's a completely different plan. It's truly all over the place, and as a result I'm trusting it less and less over time. It's good for mature plants.
Reviews for PictureThis - Plant Identifier
← Back to PictureThis - Plant IdentifierThe free trial can't be accessed without entering card info (as usual, not a problem). Google will identify anything for free, but won't organize, explain, warn, etc. like this app is supposed to. Sounds really cool, but my frugal nature won't let me pay for something that is probably offered for free somewhere. TLDR: great app, but I'm too cheap to pay for it.
I spent an hour, and more, reading the reviews to decide whether to download the app. Your responses to reviews clearly indicate that I can choose between the limited usage free version, or do the 7-Day free trial which apparently charges you for a year, if the reviews are accurate. That's a red flag to me so I proceeded cautiously. After installing the app, there is no visible choice for only the free version. Do you even look at your own welcome screen? If this information had been available..
App seems to be good. But too many prompts to get me to sign up for the trials. The trial terms are tricky... if you accidentally forget to cancel in the 7 days, they will charge you the annual fee. it was fair if they took a months fee but they will hold on to the entire years fee. The only chance to get back the remaining amount is to go to small claims court.
I signed up for the free version 7 days ago. Used it once -- for an unsuccessful identification -- and tried to cancel today. But the charge had already gone through through on the credit card. Shame on me for engaging at all with this duplicitous sales approach. Whether it's a great app or not is irrelevant -- it's definitely unfriendly to consumers and an underhanded business practice.
the app works great. I would have given it 5 stars if they hadn't charged my debit card after I had already canceled my free subscription. if you want the app, just purchase it outright. don't do the free subscription because they will charge you anyway after you cancel the free subscription. waiting for refund. normally I would not request a refund. but I won't tolerate that kind of business
I've only used this app a little bit so far, but I have to say that it is very easy to use and has helped me out tremendously with my indoor plants (section for my garden). Awesome reminders as to when and how much to feed and water them to their highest potential. Let's you know amazing facts about your plants and trees. Never would have known any of my plants were toxic to certain things like your pets or even your food. Easy to take the pictures, as it's not so sensitive to exact angles. thx!
I downloaded and uninstalled the app due to it being unreliable and giving incorrect information/diagnosis. Then I was charged a yearly subscription even after canceling the subscription. Dealing with customer service attempting to get my money back. Very shady business tactics it seems. unfortunately, the app simply didn't work as described for our needs.
Impressive accuracy at identifying plants. But for my purposes, way too many features. The company did not respond to my request for information, which is not good. I can't begin to justify a $40 annual subscription for it, sadly. I'd be hard pressed to pay a one time fee of $40, although I'd probably do it, because the quality is very good. I guess they need a "lite" version. My only requirement is the plant database and the ability to search from a photo.
When I downloaded I was given the option of a free 7-day trial with two choices of $39.99 yearly or $7.99 monthly. I chose monthly. I did not receive the reminder offered and I was charged $39.99 the day before the trial ended and canceled on the last day. I only used the app. twice, testing the application and showing/referring a friend the app. I do NOT currently have a need for this. Requested a refund through playstore and was given dev email and I still have no response in this matter.
I am a disappointed customer of another paid plant app. A lot of bugs, crashes and db is not updating. Also recognition of plants is slow and not always correct. I tried in the past pictureThis and i wasn't amused. Today i gave it another try. I am amused how accurate and fast is picture recognition. It has improved a lot. The only downsides for me is not option to remove pot, height for container is too low and that the price is triple from the other. I recommend it though and consider it
I'm being charged for a subscription, and unfortunately the subscription is NOT appearing under Subscriptions in Google Play Store, so I cannot cancel it.I don't even truly recall signing up for a trial. How can this be cancelled so I don't get charged again next month? $43.00 per month is awful much.... Otherwise, I appreciate the accuracy. It's the only plant identifier app I trust.
BIG SCAM! takes your money without warnings. After the 7 day trial period they should ask you if you want to continue- they don't, they just charge your credit card. I immediately went and cancelled. The money was refunded but then I was charged AGAIN! the app is showing I do not have the premium features even though I paid for them and do not want them. Goggle doesn't show I was charged again but it's on my credit card statement- WHAT A MESS. STAY AWAY!
The app didn't perform as advertised, and I was not able to cancel my 7 day free trial in the app. I ended up being charged for a full years subscription because I couldn't get it canceled in time. They won't respond to my messages about this issue either. I have asked for a refund. My subscription is now canceled, but not until next year. I don't want a useless app for an entire year. If I could have given this app negative stars,I would have. DON'T USE IT!!!!!
Just signed up for the free 7 days to try out the app, immediately wasn't impressed and want to cancel the subscription so I don't get charged in 7 days, but there is no way to cancel. Google play doesn't show thw subscription, and in the app under settings, it simply says that I have the free membership, no options to cancel anywhere. Seems designed intentionally to keep people from canceling. Super scummy business tactic.
how could you double the price of annual subscription? from $20 to $40? that really is too much. 100% increase. subscription apps bother me to begin with... I want to be able to outright buy something. or at least after so many months of using it be able to own it and use it whenever. I think continuously paying for something is crazy. app is great but that price hike is wild.
This app helped my plants thrive until it deleted them all and now I don't know when they were last cared for. i had to add them all back to my library. I hope this hiccup that IT was unable to help with doesn't kill my plants. I also had to resubscribe, despite paying $20 for an entire year back in May. The new sub is $40 and somehow stacked on my previous subscription. If any more issues arise, I will have to find another app to track my plant care. suggested fix has already been attempted.
I absolutely adore this app! it's so easy to use, it's amazingly cheap for the premium version (like, shockingly so), and it keeps track of what's in your garden, how to care for it, and even how to pronounce the Latin names! I use it constantly: when I'm in someone else's yard, on hikes, in new places with unfamiliar flora...and it has never given me a single error or problem. It really is wonderful. Thanks devs for a fantastic app!
Requires a credit card for a "free trial". the only reason I didn't give 1 star is because the app does seem to work. If they fix the free trial to actually be free I will adjust the rating. Remember, it isn't free if you need a credit card even if they don't charge. Edit in response: still requires a credit card therefore not a free trial of premium features.
So, what is the point of using the word "free" if a customer has to submit a credit card just to open the app?! I need to know "what I'm buying before I buy". I've already deleted several other plant app that had too many program errors that negated the possibility of a subscription. If I can't see how this works, how can you possibly expect me to give my CC information, even if it's a 7 day trial, when I don't know if it ACTUALLY WORKS?! The reviews may be phishing.
