Description
Been using Piston – OBD2 Car Scanner for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that turns your phone into a car diagnostic tool. Pretty solid if you’re into that kinda thing.
Here’s what you do: you plug in this little adapter to your car’s OBD2 port, then Piston connects to it over Bluetooth or WiFi. There’s a bunch of cool features – you can read trouble codes, see freeze frame data, and even clear the check engine light. Took me a while to figure some of it out but it’s pretty user-friendly overall.
Look, if you’re into fixing up your car or just want to know what’s going on under the hood, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the adapter can be a pain to set up sometimes – but it does the job. Worth checking out if you need an OBD2 scanner.
Editor Opinion
I've tested a bunch of OBD2 apps and Piston is one of the better ones. The interface is pretty clean and intuitive, and it's got a solid set of features for diagnostics and troubleshooting. And not the cheapest option out there, but the paid version unlocks some useful extras. In my experience, the adapter can be a bit finicky to set up, but once you get it working, it's a pretty reliable tool. Overall, a good option if you need an OBD2 scanner on your phone.

This is a good alternative app to use with CaRPM OBD2 reader if you don't like theires, it also supports more active PiDs at a time.
Great! Very simple and clear UI. Only OBDII reader app that works well and doesn't look like it is 6+ years old!
Most often tasks are connect Bluetooth, load faults, clear faults. Would it be possible to make these steps a widget, only requiring one click to do all three?
