I was happy to find this app to keep track of my plants. However, I'm not able to add my own pictures of the plants, it keeps saying, "no connection" while I'm in a WiFi zone. What's the fix? The watering and fertilizing reminder will not sync the custom settings. I have to keep digging in the soil to check for dryness.
Reviews for Plant Parent: Plant Care Guide
← Back to Plant Parent: Plant Care GuideI like that the app makes it easy to gauge light in your plant's location, identify the health of a plant and that it has so much information and reminders. Sadly, this app doesn't allow me to input when MY plant was last watered, making the reminders not as useful for me because they don't match when my plants need water, which is the primary reason I downloaded it.
The app could be improved by simply making the temperature show proper farenheit in the US. Also it mentions that I shouldn't water plants outside. It's 27F degrees out side. I don't think anyone is growing anything outside this time of year! Those are just 2 of my issues. I have a few more but I won't bother to list those here. The app would be probably one of the best plant apps out there, if the developers took the time to fix some of the small issues. Id probably use it.
I only did the free week trial, so maybe I need more time with it. I love being able to quickly capture and track all of my plants. However, I can't mark when I actually watered or fertilized them, so the schedule is off. I had some sick plants diagnosed, but after leaving the app and coming back, I can't click back into the diagnosis information. I have to retake the photos. Also, it keeps telling me that one of my plants is just old and dying naturally... but it's a new plant from a clipping!
Listed as free, but only for the first 7 day trial period. You still have to give all your payment info just to try it out. EDITED FROM 1 * TO 3*: Apparently you do NOT have to enter payment info b4 the 7 day trial. Still don't like that it's advertised in such a way that I thought it was a few app when it's not. Can't use long term. Not impt enough to me to pay. Can't really comment on the effectiveness of the app.
All in all, I like the idea of this app. Much of the content is quite informative, but I do not trust the watering schedules any longer. So, pre-app, I had this gorgeous African violet that was growing more vigorously than any I'd ever had before, and it bloomed like mad. Fabulous. But the app had me watering it every few days instead of only when it was dry, and now it is an anemic little plant with rotting leaves that never blooms at all. I am worried that I'm going to lose it soon.
Downloaded to see if it could help with a epiphyllum hookeri/hooker's orchid cactus. After backing away from the paywall, I was almost able to use it anyway. But I guess my plant isn't in the database. it didn't recognize it when I scanned it, and there was no selection when I entered the name, so I couldn't add my plant. Disappointed. Uninstalled.
So far, this has helped me a great deal in being able to find out exactly what was wrong with my rosemary plant in my garden before it infected my Lace Leaf Maple tree! I have found out many useful things with it. The reason for only 4 🌟 is that I was unable to proceed in Google when I was checking on my subscription until I agreed to pay for another year a full 5 months before I needed to for 30 free days. I would have liked to make that decision myself. I had to add a backup card, too!
it was fantastic for a while, but within the past few months, I've stopped getting notifications and my watering schedule has been all messed up- for example, I'll water one plant one day, check it off, then ill have to water the same plant two days in a row! or all of a sudden, all of my plants will be scheduled to be watered the same day, even if they have different amounts of days they need to be watered!! this app is wonderful and super helpful! up until recently💔
I've just got this app so still in the free trial but I absolutely love it. I've come to this app from a free one as like everyone, I was hoping to find a good free version of all these cool plant apps. At first it was fine but it was full bugs that need to be sorted out so I caved and got this one and it is so much easier and simple. It auto adds all the info for you which can be edited if needed and has lots of tips and help for each plant. its a good price too, 29 quid a year. Not bad at all.
This app is pretty amazing. It's helped me a lot as a new plant mom. I am only giving 3 stars because of a bug where some of my plants just don't show up for their watering reminders. They will show up eventually, but as an 'overdue for watering' notification. I had 9 show up today, some of them over a week overdue. Luckily they were mostly for succulents and snake plants so no harm was really done, but I would love to see this bug fixed so I can give 5 stars!
Be careful, app provided watering schedule may be VERY wrong. Yes, some degree of customization is needed based on your plants, but this app just seems to generically recommend watering once a week. Your plants may survive, but many definitely won't thrive. How might the app be better? Gather more useful data about the environment. Humidity is huge, app doesn't ask. Soil type matters, app doesn't ask. Good for reminders and tracking if you know what you're doing, bad if you don't.
this app is great for identifying plants, not so great on the diagnosis of my plants and how to make them grow better. I've sent in photos a couple of times of my plants and gotten back trite responses telling me to increase the light on a plant that they told me would be okay in low light. most of the time when I use the auto-diagnose option, it tells me my plant is either healthy or dead, nothing in between. not happy with anything besides the reminder to water.
I downloaded this today, and I'm honestly not too happy with it. There seems to be a lot of misinformation on plants, plants not in their database (string of turtles), and they're "sickness detection" feature os completely bugged. Anytime I would scam a plant, it would say my healthy ones are sick and the unhealthy ones are completely healthy! it also doesn't give you specific information on how to treat it. You just have to search through their common diseases list to find it.
I've been using the free version (not the free trial) for a year. it's a bit cumbersome that the landing page/splash screen is the paid premium options, but there's an x at the top right corner that allows you to exit, taking you to the rest of the free app. the app has a lot of useful and helpful information. I mainly use the app to track watering frequency. love being able to identify plants with photos, and organize plants based on sites.
I ended up canceling at the end of my free trial (today), but have been charged $29.99 USD anyway for 1 month of membership. Immediately after canceling, I received an offer to get a whole year for $29.99 USD. Just letting y'all know I just paid for 1 month on what I could've got for a year. It doesn't seem like a bad app for the plants, tho. I may have appreciated it more in the winter when they struggle. Half of mine are outside in the summer getting warmth, rain, and are somewhat happy.
Very light on information, PictureThis is significantly better or you could simply use Google Lens for free and know everything. I had no intention of purchasing this app but it must have charged me after a free trial without notification, bummer. As an example, in the very basic list of information after having it analyze a photo, it will say in a tiny section Propagation: cutting, and that's it, no instructions of any kind. This app is not useful, please honor a refund as requested
love this app so far! even without purchasing the subscription its still a great app. only one small thing I wish it had was an option to select a grow light since my Pothos is in my bedroom and it says its not a good place due to low light. would also be cool to have a like reminder to turn on your grow light and information on how long to have said grow light on. other than that small thing great app!
I like the app but missing a few things. Photo identification feature is fairly accurate. Easy to use and straight forward user interface. A soil feature would be awesome, being able to pick what kind of media the plant is in or if it's growing in water. I have a few pothos in water and I have to turn off the watering and fertilizer reminders. A grown light feature would be beneficial, I have plants in rooms that do not have enough natural light and need a grow light.
I absolutely loved this app from the moment I downloaded it. But anytime I have tried to mark all my plants have been watered or fertilized no matter how long I have waited after hitting confirm it does not update or anything but the second I hit cancel it takes away the message. I want to be able to mark that my plants have been watered but have absolutely no idea how to go into each plant and mark that they have been watered.. honestly, super sad and actively looking for help..
