Reviews for Plex: Stream Movies & TV

← Back to Plex: Stream Movies & TV

This app SUCKS. It is no where near as good as previous version. I have lost the option to stream at a automatic lower rate. I can not fast forward by double clicking on the screen. I can not find the setting options that I used to use easily. PLEASE bring back the previous version. And Plex don't give me the "I'm sorry you are having issues go to our forum." JUST PUT THE OLD APP BACK. IT WORKED PERFECTLY FINE. I LOVED IT AND DID NOT ASK OR WANT THIS CHANGE.

New updates and app look and feel, Resurrected bugs from a couple years ago. Nice job, plex. None of the images load anymore, like it used to not work, and they block access in weird ways on VPN, some stuff works, some stuff doesn't, and then always shows that you're offline, even though you're not, hopefully they get the bugs worked out soon. want money deliver less!

app update not good. too many missing features. I can't update access to shares. that was very helpful to people that run servers. not many people carry a laptop around with them. I travel a lot, now I have to take out a laptop, log into the server, go through the menu, etc just to give access to a presentation folder... it was so easy when it was a part of the app.

Plex is overall great. However their new UI completely changes how to navigate their app and I am not a fan of change. I have to use 2 buttons to see all of my libraries instead of just one. that doesn't seem like much, but when I am looking through 5 libraries for an item to watch, it is very annoying. And apparently I can no longer download a show, keeping only the next several unwatched, I have to go to the season.

The Android TV app, in particular, is nearly unusable. Navigating through content? Not without stuttering. Want to watch an episode? Not without backing out several times to try to convince it to connect. Change playback settings? Not without a crash or three. Casting won't work without much coaxing, and the cherry on top is when it boots me back to a show's episode list within ten minutes of the end of the episode.

I've loved it before (5🌟), but lately, every time they drop a new version lately, it causes issues. The most recent version (of Desktop Server) drops my remote access constantly, which makes the app useless. Yes, I know that's the desktop program and not the app, but what good is the app without the server access. PLEX LiveTV?!? I can use Pluto or Hulu for that. No, the purpose of the app is to connect to the server.

WOW, am I ever tired of the ads! Every time I have to leave the app to send a text or anything, I come back and am IMMEDIATELY given an ad that's minimum of 150 seconds. Every time. Doesn't matter if I just had a 150 second ad, if I leave the app a minute later, when I come back, I'm given another 150 second ad. And sometimes it restarts my episode when I open the app again.

Since no official support options exist, we must avail ourselves of the tried-and-true "post bad reviews" option, I guess! The Android Plex client UI is fine but streaming is largely busted. Performance on the same LAN as a client is OK but simply doesn't work when accessing over the internet. The same setup works on Windows. iOS, and other platforms. Would love to see this get addressed.

I have used plex for almost 10 years, and the latest update has killed the app. It doesn't open after profile selection, it just spins and spins. I have tried it on my phone (Note10+) and my wife's (Note10+) and it is the same on both. The app for my Amazon Fire tablet works fine. but this version doesn't do anything. I am deeply disappointed.

I was very excited about this appt at first , because I found a bunch of TV movies and shows I watched, so I added them to my watchlists. but as I went to watch them it wouldn't let me, because it wasn't showing on any station or app. so I guess I don't understand why you let me add them to my watchlist if I actually can't. at this rate I will just keep my other apps I pay for and youtube and watch them that way. this app is kinda useless, unless you have Hulu, Disney + already, or other apps.

Recent app update has introduced menu options for things like On-Demand, Live TV, and Discover.... None of these options can be disabled or hidden. Not great when you're trying to ensure children only have access to the content that you've vetted. Not to mention, I don't want to use those options myself. Update: previous issue with server access has been resolved.

every time you pause and hit play, it crashes. if you put it as a PIP on top of other apps and open it back up, all of the controls go away. most of the time when you select any movie or show, it will say not found and you have to go back and try again. the option to have the resolution "convert automatically" was removed. it was buggy before, but now it's near unusable unless you never, ever hit pause or rewind. Just hit go on a playlist and never stop.

I was a huge fan, but the app has become a total train wreck. They keep adding new features but breaking or removing old ones. Now the download function no longer works for entire shows, and you can't specify how many episodes to download. The server keeps disabling remote access, playback quality controls are gone, you can no longer manage sync from the server, and server settings are gone from the client. It's a complete disaster. New features are great, but working ones are better.

This new refresh sucks and is unreliable. It's not easy for me to find my servers and half the time they don't even show up anymore even on lan. The android app constantly crashes at start and I have to force close it in the app settings. Come on Plex I've been around since pretty much the beginning and the app was way more user friendly and reliable up until this ui refresh.

Break free from the subscriptions! Own your own media. Plex apps make watching your own movies a better experience than streaming, no plugging a laptop in to the TV to watch something. Just get the movie on your computer and watch it on the big screen or anywhere. And you don't have to worry about Netflix throttling your bandwidth because you didn't allow their spyware

I do not care about Live TV, On Demand, or Discover. I use Plex ONLY to watch my personal movie and TV library. I paid for a lifetime Plex Pass so I could support Plex without all the extra garbage. At the very least, Plex Pass users should be able to disable the Live TV, On Demand, and Discover buttons on the navigation bar. Also give me the ability to separate my movies & TV shows! This new layout is horrific.

Who at Plex thought it was a good idea to refresh the app without feature parity with the old version? Navigation is confusing, there isn't a sense of hierarchy. I can't seem to be able to create or edit playlists. Pinching the screen no longer zooms in on a video so I can cut off extra black bars. Why on earth didn't they wait until they had more features before going live? my review was 5 stars, now it's 1. this is a step backwards for Plex, not forwards.

The ad said this was a free streaming app and that there was no subscription required to watch your favorite movies and TV shows. Yeah, they were telling the truth, but if you don't have a current subscription with Disney+ or other services, you can't watch anything on this app. This app is pretty much useless because if you have a subscription with any other app, you don't need Plex. I would rate the app five stars if they actually had the movies and shows and forced you to watch ads.

New app has outright broken functionality and is a massive step down in reliability and features from the old one. No ability to automatically download latest X number of unwatched shows. No details when looking at anything in the "what's on later" for live TV. No ability to filter media by rating. The progress bar doesn't work for downloaded content. Downloaded content doesn't play when available, it attempts to stream first, and you have to go into downloads to find it. And on and on.

For a platform as mature as Plex, you'd expect them to at least put out something that performs better than an early alpha build. Sure, the new refresh LOOKS good. but what's the point if it's not even usable? INCREDIBLY slow, can't play anything without constant stuttering and freezing, features removed. This was not ready for primetime, and the Plex team should revert all changes until they can get their act together.
