Potentially could be a useful app but: 1. filter doesn't work (stations which should show do not; clear/rest filter doesn't work), 2. shows stations not publicly available, cluttering up the map. So overall not very useful.
Reviews for PlugShare – EV & Tesla Map
i quite like this app, however, i loaded a trip into my computer, saved it and then in my car, going on this journey, I using plugshare and Android Auto, I only got navigation to the charging stations along the way, not the destinations, which was why I was making the trip. There's room for improvement. It has some quirks
I've been using this app for years and it's mostly great. The latest update adds more info to photos, including who uploaded it. Nice! Current problems: 1. As of mid-2025 update, the keyboard obscures the checkin comment area. EDIT: fixed in a later update! Rating increased! Thanks! 2. When we tap for directions, the mapping app to "open with" is not remembered. 3. Some fields can't be edited on Android, YEARS after they were editable on iOS. 4. (Oct 2025) Plugshare surveys now can't be exited.
I am on a long road trip. Currently have traveled in the last several weeks. Plugshare has been invaluable and helping me find charging stations along my route. It also gives me the ability to add additional charging stations that I have found not yet on plugshare. I love the ability to add and photos of each destination.
Wonder why the app is missing a lot of charging stations that EZ Charge has. Update: Thank you for the response. Thanks to your comment, I realized that I need to check "required fee" to show all the CHAdeMO stations that I look for. I don't remember that I ever touched that option before. I used to see all the stations. I wonder if it is a new feature and default value for that option is unchecked.
Update: I figured out that the app is just glitchy and can crash if GPS is turned off. Just turn it on before opening the app. Original: Very useful app when it works. Twice recently I've had the map get stuck on "loading locations" and I can scroll and see chargers but not click on them. After that I have to uninstall and reinstall and then it works again.
It's a nice app, but I don't think the PlugShare scores are accurate. The chaging costs aren't accurate either, because they only show the base price per kilowatt hour or unit of time. They don't mention the additional costs, such as sales taxes, franchise fees, gross receipts taxes local option surtaxes, and utility taxes. (Yes, all these fees and taxes added 30% to the base cost of my last charge).
It misses 3 locations near me where I know there is power. But it captures every restaurant, grocery, feed store, market, etc which fills up the map and that cannot be toggled off. I can't turn off the map blocking ad banner. I get that the developers need ads to support the app but dang move the ad banner somewhere else or charge me $2.99 to get rid of it. Deleting app. Onward in search of another one.
An essential but incomplete solution to EV route planning. It's a lifesaver for finding non-Tesla chargers, especially destination chargers at hotels. But they've punted on route planning on the app. You can't plan or edit on the app, just the desktop web site. Also, there seems to be no way to enter an overnight stay at a hotel without manually calculating arrival/departure durations. An 'overnight' option in the charge time dropdown would be a good start.
One of my favorite things about PlugShare is that it has a large variety of different charging plugs you can filter out to get the one's that you can use. Another neat feature is that it shows if any of the chargers are available if the person charging has reported so. One more convenience of PlugShare is that you can put any address into the search bar and it will show the location of that address. So you can see if there's any chargers on the way to your destination! What a great app!
