I have not found a eReader app better than this one. This app has all of the major necessity’s that you could need; Text to voice, highlighting, note taking, bookmarks, screenshots, drawing notes, Webb searching, syncing between devices, cloud syncing your library, easy UI. One suggestion is that the user could create additional bookshelves to organize our library.
Reviews for PocketBook reader – any books
Liked it a lot when I first started using it! It user interface is nicely set up with good options esp since it's a free app. HOWEVER after using it for a few days it stops letting me open the books directly from my files manager... I have to go through different directories in the app to get to my book. Then when I think I'm clicking the book to open it out just doesn't open... It flashes back to the start screen. I guess it's a good thing this is a few app because I would be wanting my money back right now!
Best eReader app out there and a must have on every phone I have owned the last few years. Been using it for a long time and it's only gotten better. The customization options are many and can seem intimidating but once you get the hang of the wheel everything clicks into place just how you like it. PB doesnt stumble with different files or file types either so thats a huge plus as well.
I've revised this review from 3 star to 4 because the Pocketbook help desk has been great, responding rapidly.. From what I've seen so far I could easily give this application a solid 5-star review. However I am older, and have had difficulty in trying to figure out how to work it. For the younger generation who were born with a smartphone in their hand I suspect this would be five star. The The few videos on YouTube have been poor, of no help. It is amazing that a product this good with such a strong support group is offered for free, but the absence of a user manual for me is s significant problem. When a paid version that includes a user manual is offered, I'll sign up. And almost certainly will rate it 5 star.
Oversteps now. I install apps and don't update them because of the bait and switch nature of the app store. Got a new phone so I have to use the new version. It went through all my storage and imported things it shouldn't have. (Songs, private data, etc) I noticed in the reviews others complaining about the same thing and the publisher lying and saying it's an Android requirement after v11. It isn't. I have many other apps that access storage and they don't violate my trust. Uninstalled.
I highly recommend this Pocketbook Reader app, and it certainly deserves its 5-star rating. It was a quick and easy install and extremely easy to use. You just download the app, click on install, let it scan your cell phone for compatible eBooks or other files (pdf, epub, fb2, mobi (my eBooks), or audio, and, when it finds the correct format, it adds it to your library. I really appreciate the fact that this app does not contain ads! Amazing! Not really what I would expect from such a professional, very polished app. I HIGHLY recommend this app to anyone who wants to access some eBooks that are not in the format you need on their cell phone. I used it with my new Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and it worked flawlessly! THANK YOU!
This app does a really great job of keeping your library of epubs together. Amd if you upgrade for a small price (under $5) the app will let you sync your files with drop box! i give this 5 stars for simplicity and usability. you don't even have to pay to hear it read out loud to you. the only thing i would suggest if the developers could incorporate speech inflection or accents. it is hard to understand monotone all the time.
Old version lost my collections twice. New version now has no page turning animations, which is why I got the app in the first place. Bring back the animations and make it more user friendly! Edit to add: This is the fourth time you guys have lost my collections and I have had to resort my 800 books. Never again. Sorry. Now I am deleting this app.
Far and away the best e-book reader I've found (and I've been looking hard). Notably, it respects publisher's typesetting rules by default, which is a godsend if you're reading e-books where formatting is important. Other apps that support this usually hide the setting behind a billion menus, and even then often fail in some unanticipated way (eg loading some embedded font / following css rules / literally just crashing). Whereas this app JUST WORKS! :)
This is the best ebook reader app that I've used to far. The UI is so intuitive, feature packed, and the reading experience is seamless. However, I had to uninstall it because I couldn't figure out how to use the offline dictionary functionality (if any is available at all). All the other ereader apps that I've used came with a dictionary option except for this one unfortunately.
