I love the ability to have all of my favorite podcasters in one place. I REALLY wish it would remember where I left off. When I have to stop and come back later it can be frustrating to find the last podcast I was in the middle of. I also wish it would keep track of what I've already listened to. Unless I leave a few seconds unlistened, it all looks fresh and I occasionally start listening to one I've already heard. Overall I like having this app. Just a few frustrations.
Reviews for Podcast App
← Back to Podcast AppIt is used to be a great app. Now it shuts off after one min. No longer able to listen to a complete episodes without having to restart it every single minute. I even did the 7 day free trial thinking it was some ploy that requires the upgraded plan. Nope. Still shuts off after 1 min. I tried changing all sorts of settings on my phone and the app. Nothing changes it from shutting off after 1 min
I pay the annual fee to get rid of apps. It's great, and my only complaint for a while was that my car wouldn't stay connected if I had to pause an episode. After one of the recent updates, I don't have that trouble anymore. My favorite thing about this app is I can download episodes and it will play those in like a playlist. Other podcast apps will try to play random things after a downloaded episode ends.
The app freezes if you have to pause it for a minute or two, which makes using this intermittently while at work pretty difficult. It makes you close out and scroll back to find where you left off. I'm bingeing a 300 episode podcast so this is more than a minor inconvenience. I'm sure there's a more efficient podcast app out there.
It is nice to have a free podcast app with just about every podcast and episode your heart desires. Sometimes the app just stops playing in the middle of an episode, sometimes several times during the same episode, regardless of how good phone service is or if it was downloaded. But by far my biggest qualm and headache with this app is how it does not log whether or not you've listened to an episode, so if I try to start listening to a podcast that has been out for any amount of time I cannot determine which episodes I have and have not listened to.
have been using this app for over a year. loved it!. a month ago, the app started playing short ads before the start of a p-cast. I could live with that. A week ago, 30 second ads would start playing in the middle of a p-cast, an unwelcome distraction. Yesterday, I noticed that when resuming a podcast after a pause, the podcast would play for 5 sec and then be interrupted by an annoying facebook video. so I'd basically have to hit the play button twice in 10 seconds. Hope it gets fixed!
It's a great app! Easy to use, reliable, and no bugs. The only problem i have is when an episode ends it automatically deletes it from my downloads. I fall asleep listening to podcasts sometimes. I have to search for and download the episode again the next day. Slight hassle, but would be great if you guys fixed this. Thank you!
I have been using this app for a couple years now and for a while it was fine. I even pay $15 a year for it. But for some time now, every podcast in my favorites takes forever to load. The play button just spins and spins as if it's buffering and sometimes it does so for 5+ minutes. Very irritating. I update the app often and that has not solved the issue. I experience the problem both on wifi and when I am using mobile data. I don't know what the issue is but I'm approaching the end of my rope.
I really love this app, and I'm happy to pay the subscription to eliminate the ads. Two suggestions for the devs if they're listening: 1. What would be really useful is a "repeat" mode when playing a downloaded podcast. I often use this app as a sleep aid, and it would be nice to just be able to repeat the same podcast rather than have the app play through the entire list of downloaded podcasts. 2. Less important: It would be useful if the "skip" time were configurable. Often I'd like to be able to skip in 1 minute increments. Other that that, great podcast app!
I've been using this app on my old phone for some time and really liked it. I had a lot of podcasts loaded, but when I put the app on another device (because my phone seems to be dying) none of my content showed up at all, even though I followed the prompt on Google play store and went through the same Google email account that I used originally . Disappointed and annoyed that I have to individually load multiple podcasts all over again.
The things I appreciate about this app: 1) The adds for the free version are visual only, not auditory. 2) When my podcast finishes, if there are more recent episodes to play, it plays them. 3) When my podcast finishes, and there are not more recent episodes to play, it does not start playing random new ones; it lets me decide whether to find another one. .
SO SLOW, always glitchy. There is a good selection of podcasts, but the loading speed is a joke. I've tried to search for podcasts advertised on the app, but the app is so slow, I end up trying to find them on other providers, such as wondry. I don't pay for premium, so I don't know if that service eliminates the snail pace loading and searching. If your podcasts are available from any other service, I don't recommend podcast app at all.
I've been using this app for about 6 months. it has all the podcasts I like to listen to. I have a few problems with it though. if anything interrupts my listening such as a phone call, instead of my podcast resuming I have to manually go back into the app and begin playing again. Which really sucks when I'm out on a run or in the middle of doing dishes. There is also no sleep setting, which can make it hard if I ever listen to something before bed to take my mind off the day.
Very intuitive and easy to use when it comes to finding new podcasts and ones that I already love. But the queue system needs some work... It's clunky and cumbersome to have to sift through every show I listen to just to see if there's a new episode, I'd like the option for it to automatically add each episode to my queue as they come out. Also, full page adds every 20 seconds are a bit much. But can't wait to see what new features roll out in the future! In the meantime I still prefer RadioPublic because of its special folders that give you a shortcut to new episodes of shows you follow and an easy way to add them to your queue. Also I don't think the "Listen ▶️" button works on my device, nothing happens when I press it (Google Pixel 2 XL).
I find the UI layout easer to navigate than any other free podcast player. It is simple to see what has been played and dowoaded. However, full screen ads with a tiny close "x" in the upper left or right corner, is very annoying! I do not see where I can purchase an 'up graded' version, ad free. It is difficult to find the "settings" menu on this app.
Update!! The changes they made to this app makes it sooo slow and awkward to use! It takes forever for the app to catch up to the action I try to initiate. Slow and lagging. Love! this app! My computer broke and I can not download itunes in my loaner computer....so I was trying to find a way to listen to my podcast and this way is definitely it. I can still do other things on my phone as I listen and I can save podcast I want to listen to instead of having to search through them on a list.
I like this app. But it seems that with every update, I have more and more issues. When I open it, it sends me to the search option like I'm a new user. Then, I have to tap in and out of all my podcasts to get any options. I have to wait for who knows how long to the podcast to start. Could be a couple of minutes or 30 minutes. It shuts down if I open another app or shuts down on its own for no reason.
Basic podcast player, without speed control. There are only a couples things that seem to be basic features for a podcast player. 1) Selection and 2) speed controls. The Podcast App has selection but you can only listen at normal speeds. I am a regular listener of podcasts and I usually prefer to listen at 1.5x speed. Being able to speed up the recording allows me to get through more content. Would love it if this app had speed controls.
I used to enjoy this app a lot, first downloaded it a few years back. Now it is too frustrating to use since they added so many more ads. Can only click two or three times before a timed ad pops up, and it's programmed now to do this over and over. Unfortunately, I had to switch to a different podcast app. I understand the need to make money, but it went too far.
I finally had enough. Maybe I'm too used to using ITunes. But I was annoyed when I saw the episodes saved for later listening hadn't or were they deleted or did they just evaporate? And you can't organise the order you want to listen to the episodes. Now, hopefully, when I uninstall, it'll delete all its downloads, including the ones I couldn't get to work even though it said they were there.
