Lots of fighting with downloads. I started using this app for the available content, but end up having to fight to get episodes downloaded. I'll start a few and invariably one or more will get "stuck," refusing to download or let any other episodes download. When I try to delete to episode blocking others, it won't delete and I have to force stop the app, reopen, and try again. It takes several try and feels like a huge waste of time.
Reviews for Podcast Player App – Podbean
I'd give it 5 stars but, when I join a cast it's like i'm broadcasting from a deep well, and no can really hear me. I have used headphones, and just the Phone's Speaker and no luck, I've been told it's because I am using an Android. But who knows. But I love dropping in on Live Shows , and a lot of my friends use the app. And they have found new friends on this app from all over the world! It's really remarkable. It's more than just a podcasting app...
When the podcast player I was using became abandonware, I looked at a bunch of players. This one was the best I found. The company seems very responsive, which is a big plus. My one concern is the app also allows you to publish your own podcasts; that seems to be the main focus of the company. Does that mean the player functions will get less attention? So far, at least, though, no complaints. (Their Facebook group is exclusively for podcasters, not listeners, alas.)
I find this app quite frustrating. If it's front end was designed a bit more competently, it could be a great app. There's apparently no way to make a queue, other than making a "Playlist of your favorite episodes", which is just weird, it's PC integration is horrible, and intended for uploading original podcasts, not listening to existing ones. There's no way to limit the number of episodes in your pre-built "new" Playlist of all followed podcasts, causing hourly news pods to stack up. Almost.
This is the only podcast app I've ever had, that constantly stops in the middle of an episode. It just stops, no error message, no prompts. I'll have to reopen the app as many times as 10 times in an hour. This isn't related to my internet connection, or wi-fi, it's just this app. I've been dealing with this for months, and the recent update did nothing to help. The error isn't related to a specific show, or episode. It's any show I play through Podbean.
I've tried multiple podcast apps over the past 5-6 years and this one has quickly become my favorite. Loving the app so far as it has most of what I'm looking for. So much so, that I already subscribed! Just would love the ability to limit downloads to the latest 2-3 episodes, and better filtering options for searching as categories are very broad. Also, as a multilingual person, it would help to be able to search by podcast language.
It's meh. Biggest problem, I've got to pay $10/year so I don't have to click three screens in order to see what's new. (In other words, the "discover" tab is the landing page by default. In order to change it to the podcasts I follow, there's an upcharge.) Apparently, the business strategy is to make an app that only works sort of well, and then ask us for money to make it work like it should.
I have used this app for over 5 years and I love it. I've tried different podcatchers , etc., over time and always find myself coming back to podbean. My only real issue is with the search feature when looking for podcasts. To find a certain podcast, you often have to be very very specific in searching the title. And when searching broader terms, a lot of good podcasts are missed in the results. But everything else is spot on wonderful and I doubt I'll ever switch up
The playback stops over and over and over with an error message that says something about "network problems or the server being busy." But I can press 'play' and it immediately starts up again. But there's no way to enjoy listening if that happens every couple of minutes. Please fix this bug with an update. I'm running an up to date version on Android.
Very poor UX. Poorly designed search functionality and recommendation system. Audio pauses frequently for no obvious reason. Bizarrely doesn't offer an option to listen to episodes in episodic order...you would have to go in and manually drag and drop each episode to get the correct play order. All that and they have the audacity to have frequent pop-ups asking for reviews. Maybe not the best strategy when your product is buggy and badly interfaced.
