The paid version and free version are almost identical just no adds. There needs to be more settings for things lile fast forward speed, better layout for ds emulator. Options for cheats (i like to use them to get certain pokemon not generally available) have a look at my boy emulator there is a lot of features on that which could be implemented. It works reasonably well just feel it could be better
Reviews for Pro Emulator for Game Consoles
← Back to Pro Emulator for Game ConsolesOnly real complaint I have is the inability to change the screen size. It's not so bad when I'm playing on my phone but if I cast it to my TV I'd like to be able to alter the screen ratio to fit the TV screen. Other than that overall great app once I figured out how to use it..but I'm not very tech savvy so it's nothing against the apps ease of use
Overall I say this is a great emulator especially if you're looking for the classics. There are a few consoles it cannot emulate, being PS2, GameCube, Xbox, and Wii, which is understandable. Some emulators require better hardware or software to run such consoles. HowEVER, Gameboy (all variations), NES, SNES, N64, PSP, NDS, and Sega Genesis run great and smoothly, so if those interest you I highly recommend downloading this app! PRO is definitely worth it!
It's a decent emulator so far. It does this weird thing where it'll load my game from a random point, then I'll have to manually load where I saved. It doesn't save in game very well for me, so I use the emulator save option only. If I switch apps, it'll sometimes crash my game so I'll lose any progress unless I hard saved before. I wish it game me an option to backup my save file, I have no clue where they save my game progress to on my phone.
This by far is the better choice of emulators as everything it does, it does well. It's nice that you don't need several emulators apps, just one. Caveats though. When selecting to turn off audio and speed up game play you will have to go back into menu on every selection. Those selections do not stay as a global setting in memory so you have to do it every time. The speed up function needs a 2x 3x 4x setting. Needs a hex editor addition for cheats. Also the pro version needs a remove all popups
Been absolutely excellent, runs multiple consoles worth of games smoothly. Ive noticed it seems to struggle to properly engage the microphone feature on the DS emulator for games that utilize it, seems to just detect a chaotic buzz no matter what I try. Likely a bug, but so far the only one I've found. Absolutely worth the money, been reccommending it to friends.
So I was playing "Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story". I got to the Fawful Express boss fight, which is a giant fight. (This is important) One of the attacks while being in a giant battle, is the ability to breathe fire. To use this move efficiently, you need to blow into the mic. Which in this emulator, does not include. So to improvise, they turned it into a button. Which sounds good in theory. (Again, extremely important) The button does not work, making the boss and game impossible.
Does the link cable work for GBC? It doesn't connect for me. Also the 3ds just closes whenever i try to open a game. gb, gba, and Ds work great. I double-checked it wasn't the roms. Also if anyone is having problems with nds games not working change your core. if you already had saved data you can change your core back. fixed the force closing bug for me.
The emulator is great, I love being able to play all my favorite retro games, but the major drawback for me is not being able to save games or read .Sav files. There is 4 save states, but that is only good for 4 games at a time. If this changes in the future I will gladly add the other 2 stars. Update: With the recent update letting you actually save your games, I can now fully enjoy playing retro games on the go. I appreciate the devs listening to feed back. Easily 5 stars now.
I loved this thing until just yesterday, it randomly quit working. Paid for the full thing. I've had it for roughly a year now with no issues. Suddenly, it won't load any of my games. Keeps making reselect a folder to use and kicks me out every time I try to "rescan." I'm at a loss. It worked just fine the day before yesterday.
This does play DS games perfectly, so I'm giving it a star for that. However, I bought the pro version so I could play 3DS games as it advertised, yet it doesn't work. I tried around nearly 10 different games, experimenting with the source and files of them, and none of them would play. The app would show the game, but would crash once I tried to load it. Very disappointed since I only paid to have the ability to play 3DS games.
the main things I wish this app had were the option to add cheat codes into the game like other emulator and the ability to adjust the speed of the fast forward option. sometimes it just barely looks faster. retroarch has a major speed up and it would be nice to have that faster speed on older roms. if it had those 2 things I'd give this app a 5
I was very skeptical at first so I tried the light version to see how games would play. I had to get the pro version because you can play different councils all on one app! I don't have to download multiple apps to play multiple game systems because this one has an all-in-one! If you have a Bluetooth game controller, BEFORE YOU START PLAYING make sure you go into the settings of the app and configure the controller first, that way nothing goes wrong. It does not support PlayStation 2 games.
I've been trying to run a patched version of Pokemon White 2 and at first it runs great. No glitches, it ran just as fast as it would on an actual system. I was playing it earlier and I saved my progress into the 1st save spot and closed the game. When I went to turn it back on it would start to load the game and then it closes and goes to the menu. Edit: I fixed it, all I had to do was turn off the automated and it allowed me to reboot the game and play it.
It's a very good emulator, I like having the ability to use different emulators in one app. I only have 2 issues, the first one is minor, but I'd like to have the option to change the fast forward speed (going x4 or x8 speed instead of just x2). The second issue is a bit more of a major one, the in game saves don't always work. I loaded into a game and it didn't have my save internally, it can be avoided with save states, but if I mess up before a save state then I can't reload the emulator.
I would give a 5/5 but I for one cannot figure out how to get a game shark to work (likely not their fault) but moreover, if you minimize the program, it might close what game you had open and all your progress is lost. You must make a save state frequently. It'd be nice if when it closes ever it saves state automatically, but oh well. It's been great playing Pokemon silver on the phone during down time at work.
Things were fantastic until the most recent update. Now, it will not load any games or scan directories without crashing. This is happening on both the free and paid versions. They both updated today. Edit to add a quick note that I have received no response from this forum or an email I sent the developer. I'm not expecting an overnight fix, but a simple we are aware of the issue and are working on it would be nice. Update to add that all is fixed now.
So far, so good. Only been a couple weeks tho. I bought the "pro" version and I'm glad I did. Stable and simple to use. I've tried it with GBA, PSP, NDs, PSX, and NES. If they add a simple cheat mod to it, and maybe add more graphic configurations, it will destroy Retroarch as the 'go to' handheld emulator. Definitely worth the purchase of the pro version. Definitely worth the download if you don't. You won't be disappointed.
Purchased the Pro. Runs as described, but the paid version displays pop ads for their browser and discord. There appears to be no way to disable. The play store does not inform there would be ads. The app also wants to enable notifications. Again, no way to remove the pop without extra steps. Half the screen is used with their ads, not the game library. If I'm wrong, please inform and I'll adjust my rating.
As an emulator, it's pretty damn good. The only thing I don't like is not being able to adjust the size of the playable screen for the various gameboys. You can change the control size, but not the game screen itself passed a certain point. If you hold your phone vertically, it's not a real issue. it's when the phone is turned horizontal that the issue occurs.
