Worked great but I didn't even use the app a total of 25 times before I keep constantly getting error code "try again later" when I've only used this device to remote play my ps5. It's a huge let down when it's supposed to be remote play but half the time you get kicked for not having a stable connection when you have better wifi than 90% of the people in the area.
Reviews for PS Remote Play
This app actually worked pretty well on my Pixel 3XL. Had no problems syncing and signing in. The problem I had was it made my phone get VERY hot, and that's not good. You can sync a PS4 controller to your phone through Bluetooth. A lot of people don't know this. It's really easy. But, I found that the touchpad didn't work. It would show up on my screen but didn't do anything when I pressed it. For simple games it may be ok for you but I uninstalled it because of the heat issue.
Works well when it does, but has some issues randomly. Overall great for setting up games to play while you're doing something else or quickly checking things in a game. Playing is possible and works well, but can be difficult. Not really the apps fault though. Would be cool if you could use this as a second controller. Also please note, playing remotely on your device will have some lag. You shouldn't use this for precision gameplay.
It does what it's supposed to do. Although you need to give players a way to rearange the buttons instead of locking the buttons in place, some people don't want to strech their pointer finger four inches to shoot an enemy. And I can garantee you that if you were to find a way to make this mobile so we could use our playstations from miles away, this app would be praised. Other than that? It's solid. I can turn to it if my controller dies and that's what I want.
It gets the job done, that's all I can really say. There's this odd stick drift simulation you can't turn off, and it's very frustrating wrestling with the controls and trying to do basic movement. Connecting a PS5 controller to it would be a better option if the controls weren't messed up. You can't remap those either. ALSO the app really wants to use the highest resolution video at all times, so if you're using a weaker connection you will very likely not be able to play at all.
It works well, using Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra connecting to PS5. Lag isn't too bad, much better with a controller than trying to use on-screen controls which don't seem to register multiple touch points at the same time (using a "control stick" and pressing "X" at the same time for example). It would be nice if I could use the app when connected via Samsung DeX.
Great app, easy to use. Being able to change resolution and frame rate settings is nice. If your internet connection is strong you probably won't have problems with lag. The only issue I have is when using a DS4 controller, the touchpad turns into a mouse when connected with bluetooth. This makes it difficult to open menus with the touchpad button. You can use the mouse to "double click" the onscreen touchpad but that is very inconvenient and can get you killed, depending on the game.
Terrible experience. The vast majority of the time, my connection becomes unstable within 30 seconds to a minute or two. I have to constantly reconnect. Once in a long while the connection will stay perfect for a few hours and it's great, until I disconnect and immediately reconnect only to be in the same cycle of play for a minute, reconnect, play for 10 seconds, reconnect. All in the same exact spot with the same conditions. Would love to see them put some effort into this feature.
Depending on what you're playing this is a decent way to game, say if you just wanna lay down and play or someone wants to use the TV. It's not perfect though. I wish there was a way to edit the controls on this. If I want a fixed joystick I have to have my phone in portrait, but if I want a wide screen image I need my phone in landscape. It'd be nice if I could fully control the vController on this app. I would also like the ability to lock the stream quality to 360 etc. That would be perfect.
Finally excited to be able to use remote play again only to be disappointed. no controller support other than the Dualshock 4 on Android 10 which not a lot of phones have access to due to contracts these big companies decide to do to keep everything so limited. I was also excited because I have a Moto Z and the GamePad which is perfect for this setup and I mean perfect but it doesn't work. And I'm kind of confused on why it has to be Android 10 for the controller to work when I had it on my Sony Xperia that was running Android 7 or 8 , pie cookie or whatever they called it back in the day. It would be great just to be able to play my PS4 the remote play using whatever I can get to connect to it. Using the on-screen controller sucks it is not enjoyable and takes away from the experience ,mobile gaming is big and I really think you guys have a chance to kill the market if you open it up a little bit you already have people buying the $300 to $400+console by the Millions!!, to be able to use this feature. I rather be able to play that and invest my time whether I'm on my phone or my PlayStation towards games that I spent $60+on. I really feel if you guys do this right this can be what the PlayStation Vita was supposed to be and create that player interface and be very popular because people wouldn't have to buy a separate device to play their PlayStation so more user$ .Heck if it free things up and give people more options to play with what they want and how they want and use what they want I'm sure we would be willing to pay a little fee and another way you guys can get people is PlayStation Now included for a fee or add-on since that streaming gaming.
