Have not been to my storage unit for a while now. Went this morning and could not sign into the app. Tried clearing cache still not able to log in. Uninstalled and reinstalled app. Nope, still not able to log in. Returned home to find my gate code. Finally able to enter storage complex. This is the first issue I've had with logging into the app. Although, I've had many issue with not being able to open the gate with the app. For the prices we pay for the storage bays the app should work...

But it is not working on my phone. I even tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, but no luck. Seems like every time they "update" the app, it messes up. Please fix.....and then leave it alone.
Super convenient, easy to use, and that's all great... when it actually works. I have the newest update. App signed out somehow between yesterday and today, will not work this morning, error message said it couldn't find an account. I've had this acct for years. My unit is at a high volume property and when app isn't working and other tenants don't know their gate code, it creates a jam on both sides of the gate. Also, payments take FOREVER to update in app.
My app is so hit or miss (mostly miss) when it comes to being in range of the gate keypad, even when I'm literally within a foot of it. The app is not reliable for that reason. Since the most recent app update, there are more steps to opening the gate via my phone, giving me 5 or 6 gates ("Not in range" of any) and my facility only has one gate. 99% of the time, I have to physically dial my code into the keypad for access, which takes away a lot of usefulness to this app.
Unreliable app. This app works only when it wants to or either their gate aren't synced up with the app. I'm literally sitting here now watching it not work for someone else! It always says I'm not in range and I'm guessing it's saying the same thing for these people too.***Forget the app!! Let's talk about the fact that they say month 2 month, the rate being raised whenever they feel like it is inappropriate & a rip off!! It would be cheaper for me to rent a U-Haul truck for a month!!
This app is complete garbage. The app constantly kicks me out after every use, and I have to login again. Of course it's an obscure password that I don't remember, so I have to reset it. But then, when I have to enter the verification number texted to me, it's kicks me off of the verification page back to the login screen, making it impossible to reset my password. Extremely frustrating as there's never anyone in the office to actually help me access the unit I pay a good amount of money to use.
I downloaded the app so we could open the gate without having to look up the code. It literally worked ONE TIME. When trying to leave I had my phone within inches of the box and it kept telling me that I was out of range. Tried it again tonight and once again I was out of range when my phone was right in front of the box. And when you press the button for the code it shows you nothing. Very disappointing.
Used to work, but now it won't. I click the app and all it does, is show loading, but never opens. Been doing this for couple weeks now. Perhaps longer, but only noticed when I tried to log-on a couple weeks ago. I have the newest update. I've tried turning phone on and off. Nothing works. I can't access my account!!!!! Update: October 18, 2024. Thank you for replying. I did everything you said. App auto updates. No permissions denied, etc. Still can't access app. Same issue. I will email them.
They lure you in at a good price, and then arbitrarily triple it, and keep increasing it every few months, and make it unaffordable to the point where you're stuck having to deal with moving everything that you moved in back out again. It quickly gets to the point where what you're storing is not worth the price you're paying.Then you get out, and they do the same thing to the next victim, rinse and repeat.They need to start guaranteeing prices for an extended period of time. It's a big scam.
This app continues to go downhill. I have to manually login every single time I open the app now. It won't save my user settings like it used to. There is no way to send feedback through the app. It's just garbage. For how much they keep increasing my monthly payments they should be able to invest into a better app. Their costs have not increased at my facility over the last 5 years but my payments have increased more than double. Public Storage is a garbage company.
Nothing worse then this app for payments. 3 months I've been late because the app would only allow me to enter my banking information as opposed to using a debit or credit card. Hit the button for debit or credit card and it's a blank page. This has cost me more money then it's worth. And the Bluetooth entry never works either. Not to mention the fact that public storage will push for contactless rentals you sign up for one price but end up paying more.
It is an impossible magic trick to get anyone to pick up the phone, and I have never ever had a return call out of the countless voicemails I have left - some were indicated as urgent! Regarding the app, the function to automatically open gates and doors rarely works, and yes, its requirements are met. And, when you log out, it doesn't close the app. In fact, you can't close the app (get it off your display) unless you force stop it.
Can never get in app to pay my bill. Worst EVER! So frustrating. They don't take pmts over the phone yet they can't wait to tack on that $30 late fee. A few more days they add the lien fee of $60. So now you get to pay the extra $90 while they continue to threaten to auction everything you own. My rental charge has gone from $1 (first month promotional charge) to $100 to $145 to now $175. in 6 months. What will it be next? Searching desperately for place to move to so I can get the hell OUT!
I was quoted a price for 30 days. I only needed the spot for 45 days Problem is they only charge monthly! Plus they charge some goofy tax! Which I found out after I reserved the spot and started the contract. It was too late to change it. So, paid for the initial 30 days, then the balance of December and now all of January. Paying nearly $500 for something I could have gotten for $150. I won't go back!
Useless app. I'll literally pull up 6 inches from the gate and it says there's no door. Or it will see the door, I'll hit the button to open and... nothing. Good thing they give you a code you can enter manually, but they change it just as you start to memorize it. It also keeps telling me I don't have automatic payment when I do and have this whole time. Waste of space on my phone.
The concept of entering the storage facility remotely through the app is a good one, if it worked. At my particular location it literally NEVER works. I can hold my phone 1 in from the sensor and it still tells me I'm too far away. Also, I have two storage units rented and wish to pay for each unit with a different credit card. both methods of payment are entered in the app and yet without fail, each month, both units are charged to only one card. another idea that doesn't work in this app.
Horrible app. The "newest" update only made it worse. App is slower than the previous update when opening gates, and it was already slow, it keeps giving me error messages saying that my attempt to log in timed out and not allowing me to log in. If you're going to constantly keep raising prices for units, at least invest some of that profit into a better UI, UX and better servers.
As a whole the storage is good. But the price is way too high and I liked it better when my payments weren't due on the first along with everything else in my life. Will be downsizing and closing my account. Also don't like being asked to pay for a storage I no longer have...went from a larger to a smaller one and still being asked for payment on the large one smdh!
Personally when it comes to the app you can take away the 1 star that I left. Your app is horrible. I have multiple units that 8 am renting, but could only see one of them and there is no where in the app where I can add my other account/unit. I can add another person to get access, but I cannot add the other unit itself, Yet I am being charged for the other one. You need to do better, you want to force everyone into this app nonsense but the app isn't functional. I think I will contact the FTC.
The deals & discounts feature is straight trash. It'll show up on the home screen, but in order to open the page, you must click on the 3 bars on the top right, then click on deals & discounts there, in which you get redirected back to the home page to where the deals & discounts button is. Once you click on that, you are then redirected off the app & to the website. Oh, did I forget to mention that every time you redeem a discount, you'll get an error message, saying, "Something went wrong"?
