I really like this app and the information it provides. However, the most recent update changed the notification sound to a weird ticking/sucking noise and I can't find any option to change it. I'd rather not have to turn notifications off completely as it defeats half the reason I have the app.
Reviews for PulsePoint Respond
← Back to PulsePoint RespondCool idea. However, it pops up a notification every couple of minutes just to let me know that notifications are turned on. This is extremely annoying and completely unnecessary. The only way to get it to stop is to disable notifications, defeating the entire purpose of the app. This is the only app I've ever seen behave this way. Please fix this bug so I can use the app for incident notifications only. Then it will get 5 stars.
Update: The agency I follow and was offline, was contacted by Pulse Point. They were told they know of problems and were fixing. Sound came back on yesterday. Thank you for helping me. Update: Been told the agency I'm following must have cut the feed. Loved this app. Been using for months. Then all of sudden when sound button pressed it will not stay on. So no sound. I've checked all settings. Removed and reinstalled no sound.
Outstanding tool ! Allows for the nearest help be notified when it counts in rural areas. Need a way to select how far away it is, so you are not getting alerts for the entire county. Otherwise, I end up turning the app off because of too many alerts that are far away. That defeats the purpose of the app. IT is supposed to tell me as a trained resource,( pro vr not supported) in a remote area that someone needs help or there is an incident near me, that affect me, not ten miles away. Please fix
It notifies me of events happening in real time around me such as fires and other emergency situations. It eases my anxieties to not have to wait for someone to come knock on my door to evacuate if there's a fire danger because I'll probably already be alerted on this app. Now I just have to figure out how to adjust the notification sound to differentiate from other notifications. This app is easy for me as I am also a senior and not very tech savy.
Pulse point is pretty accurate with dispatched calls. The only thing that could improve is having and address to the call, so responders could respond effectively. Also there seems to be a Mic at the bottom for audio that doesn't seem to work, or I don't know how to turn it on. Otherwise I thing it is a great app... Just change those two issues and it will be on POINT!
Great app. Notifications sometimes go on a break despite battery settings on unrestricted, but otherwise, very informative. Also like the fact you can see the number of units dispatched, which provides a better idea of how serious an incident may be. I had no idea my county has as many incidents daily as it does. Also like the My feed option which you can build a perimeter or path of county incidents to keep you informed on a trip. Stay safe out here.
App keeps you alert to the area(s) of your choosing as far as traffic collisions or fires or what's up with that ambulance down the street. I would suggest that the radio scanner feature should stay on until I turn it off. I found this to be problematic while my neighborhood was watching a nearby fire and we were listening to the scanner and it would turn off after a period of time.
Since the last update, I don't get notifications for everything. I have all types of calls checked but only seem to get medical emergencies with a couple other things every once in awhile. When the news agencies are reporting fatal traffic accidents and structure fires at Walmart, but the app doesn't show them, it's obviously not working properly...
I'm glad to have the information this app provides, but I wish I could narrow down the area I get notified about. Maybe drawing an area on the map as you can do in Zillow? The only option in my area is a countywide agency, and this county is very large. Also, I'm in a small town miles from a big town that I never go to, where 90% of the problems occur. I'm getting many useless notifications every day, which is making me not bother to check them every time, and miss the ones I actually need.
Whenever I hear sirens, I can open the app and see exactly the vehicle type and where they are headed to. I wish that there would be an option to get a notification if there is any event nearby, not just "cpr needed". For example, if there is a fire nearby, I would get notified. Currently, we can only get notified for "all" fires in an agency and not in a small specific area.
It's basically just another version of the county webcad. The alerting used to be a good 2 minutes before a call came in. Now, it alerts after a call comes in. The CPR notification keeps going off, letting me know it's on, but not because someone needs it. Forcing me to shut it off. The info on calls is good, but it's just another run of the mill app now.
This has the potential to be a 5-star app, but the notifications are notoriously buggy. Many times, it will change what sound it plays (or not play a sound at all and just vibrate). Other times, it will send a notification 10-15 minutes after the incident was generated (even with a full connection). A reinstall usually fixes the sound problems, but so far I have not found a fix for the delayed notification.
Nice idea, poor execution. The core goal is to be alerted when there's a cardiac event nearby so one can lend assistance. For this to work, adhering needs to be enabled. However, the app sends alerts every 10 minutes to remind you it's enabled. To get rid of that nagging reminder, alerts have to be turned off, defeating the purpose of the app. For manually looking at what's going on in a supported community, however, it is useful.
Great app, great idea! This app works very well. It doesn't freeze, there are absolutely zero ads, it actually updates in real time and most of the time, I get a notification of a local incident before I see or hear emergency vehicles heading to the scene. It's a true asset to community and a real lifesaver. I wish it had the ability to broadcast emergency radios including dispatch, for further communication efforts. I'd give it infinite stars, for now I can only give 5. Thanks Dev team & heroes
I had pulse point for years and like having up-to-date information on calls in the area. But then I upgraded to PulsePoint Professional Responder, and it really filled in a lot of the gaps. It is extremely helpful when I teach on different calls to my crew, as well as keep me up to date on our calls that we go on. I can't recommend it enough. It has been a tremendous help!
This app has been great, and I have access to my local information in a timely manner. The newest update changed the notification sound. It's now a very disturbing/alarming sound that makes you panic. As another put it, it sounds like a bomb counting down. It took me a few days to figure out what was causing it. I was going crazy till I read a review about the same sound. PLEASE CHANGE THE NOTIFICATION SOUND BACK TO WHAT IT WAS.
I find the UI to be somewhat clunky, and it can be tricky to get notifications to work properly, but overall, it is a fantastic app, that works as advertised. Even if you're not a first responder, knowing where certain incidents are can be very helpful. The cpr notification doesn't work at all, it continuously "notifies" me that it's on, which becomes annoying in minutes, causing me to disable it. As an AEMT, this feature would be great... If it worked.
There wasn't any guide when I uploaded the app & figuring out the stations I needed to follow in the unincorporated areas wasn't all that easy. You get to choose the type of reports you get and can adjust the amount of types at any time. Plus, if you're qualified, you can be notified to go to locations where immediate CPR is needed. Ended up with 2 in order to get the coverage needed. There are a lot of reports. The app is Great! Recommend Highly!
I like to be able to use this app to avoid roads congested by wrecks, etc, or know if we have to leave for work earlier. However, I live right near a fire station and can hear the sirens when they go out, and quite often, it is never posted on this app. I'm not sure how they get their info, but there's a lag there somewhere. I do like that I have the ability to see the traffic cams on the interstate, though. Google Maps isn't always accurate on how backed up they are after a wreck has cleared.
