Says the Google sign in issue was fixed... But it's not. Can't use Google or my email address to log in, need to reinstall just to check my RSVPs *Update: was told to use the computer app instead of the phone app, was able to log in but couldn't send announcements to my guests. Told them all of this and they just reset my password.. which wasn't an issue. This app isn't worth the hassle and it's a bummer because it used to be really cool
Reviews for Punchbowl: Invites & eCards
← Back to Punchbowl: Invites & eCardsI install the app and start using it right away, which is great. But then when I do something else and go to get back into the app, I'm signed out and tells me there's a problem signing in. There's a problem if I use my email and password and if I try to sign in with Google. If I uninstall and reinstall it, it's all good. But as soon as I get out and try to get back in, same issue. I'm paying for this app, so it better work!
Does not work most of the time. It will work for an hour, and then will sign you out of your account. Then, when you try to sign back in, it will give you errors to the point where the only way for you to check on invites or RSVPs is to use the desktop version or uninstall and reinstall the app. This comes after the fact their last update is supposed to fix the sign in issues. Very inconvenient! That being said, when the app works, it works as expected.
The only down side I've found with the app is how it sends out the invites. You're type in your friends/family/whoever else you invite's contact information and the app will sends the invitations (via link). This is great except I've had a few friends who were hesitatant to open the link because it doesn't send from my number and it looks a little bit like a scam. It would be easier if you could just copy and send the link. That aside, the app has been extremely helpful.
Make sure you have every phone number or email address saved before you get started. Also, if you have to go back for any information you will loose everything and have to start over. If you need to input a phone number..good luck!! This process took me 35 minutes to put in 2 numbers. The app freezes and it takes 2-3 minutes for each number to appear. I had to use this app for the electronic birthday invitations that we booked. I will not be using it again.
First of all, I really like this app. Its brilliant, beautifully designed cards with wonderful features- especially the potluck feature! But sending out invites is a pain. it takes a long time to load the contacts, forget typing in a new one. And then once you are finally able to select them it doesn't always load, this last party took me at least 4x to send. Also I don't want to choose between text AND email, both is better. And this last party so many people couldn't open the link!
It's mostly a nice app. The Google login doesn't work for me for some reason, but I can still login via password. The interfaces and the flow are all really nice. I guess I have to compare it to using Facebook events. Personally, I'd much rather plan events using a paid service than a free one. That way, I'm the customer, rather than an advertiser. With Facebook, the advertiser is the customer. With punchbowl, it's my choice whether to pay.
The app gets the job done for sending an invitation and has lots of free options to include. I wanted to give it a 3.5 but wasn't given that option. My problems were trying to figure out how to choose invitees from my contact list and how/where to put some additional info I wanted to include. I was able to get it all in. Some directions would be nice.
The cards are attractive and the app is easy to use. However, a serious drawback is that in the updated app it no longer shows you (in either your account or dashboard) what level of service you have, how many cards you have left for the year, and when your year starts. I do remember but there is no longer an easy way to make sure that Punchbowl and you have the same understanding. If that's not fixed I will probably cancel my account before they automatically renew it.
Beautiful Invitation. I received many compliments. I love the option for guest to add names and tell if there are kids. Down side is once i select view guest there doesn't appear to be an option to back to the main screen. Also scrrens turns black when I need to add a guest that is not a contact in my phone. For now I added them in my phone and will delete them after the event.
Really liked the idea and the cost was reasonable, but about 6 of my guests never received their invitations. Fortunately a few of them were aware I was sending them out and notified me they didn't receive them, but the others were not aware and therefore never invited/knew of our event. I did not receive any notification that the invitation was not delivered. The app is also not as easy to use as it should be. I wasn't able to find a way to manually add/remove guests in the app, only on PC.
Pro: cute cards, easy reminders, easy to add guests. Cons: too many ads. I can't send the free thank you cards out to my attendees. Limited selection. Too expensive. I could've paid $3 to mail 10 thank you cards in a shorter time. Plus no notice: If the free plan doesn't allow users to SEND cards w/o a subscription, please say so, so that we can decide whether we want to give you this much personal information for free! The app should have paid subscriptions only for pro event planners.
Has a lot of card options, BUT I have to uninstall and reinstall the app every time I want to log into into my account! The log in with Google button doesn't work! Super frustrating! Also wasnt able to upload a guest list, even after creating a csv. file as directed. I had to manually enter each and every guest and their phone number! Not worth the money at this point!
Tldr; complete scam. They require to to subscribe for premium service just to send it out. They falsely advertise under $6 per month, when really it's over $50 / year - they don't allow you to subscribe on a monthly basis. If I can't subscribe per month, you don't offer a mo that service. They just hope your desperate enough to pay a yearly sub for the single event you want to invite ppl to, because they don't tell you that until you've finished the invite. Horrible company.
Good app but it would be way better if I didn't have to log in ten times a day. The notes say the Google log in issue was fixed but now it seems to have become a general log in issue. I kept getting kicked out using Google to log in then having trouble logging back in, so I made an password and all and that didn't fix the issue. It's very irritating. I just logged in, checked something, closed the app, immediately reopened and I was logged put AGAIN.
Mixed review. When first experiencing the Punchbowl app, I was excited to try it supposedly being free. Not so much. With the event that we were hosting, we were at a crossroads, ditch the idea, or pay for membership. We went the latter route, and at the lowest level for one year. Though we find it very objectionable to be lured in, we have since enjoyed utilizing our membership to send special cards or invites, with ads, and not using the "extra" cards for extra costs.
It was easy and had just what I needed to send a cute invite via text. I loved just scrolling through to add people from my contacts...super efficient! I will definitely use it again. Update: The app has lowered the number of invites you can send from around 100 to 50. For what they are charging per month compared to how much there is a need for party invitations, the number of invites should be more than 50. No one has a need to send invites EVERY month. At least I don't.
Wish I could upload my own pictures to the cards... not a lot of selection, partially why I canceled, but for long distance/last min it's very convenient, especially since you can add gift cards. So it's a great concept and can be a life savor, but it is a bit expensive, a plus is I was able to make it, pay for the gift cards and send instantly with no issues, so they're honest and thankfully it's not a scam! Great idea just needs to be a little cheaper and have more of a selection! 💌 👍😉❣
I used Punchbowl to create my granddaughter's first birthday party invitations. I downloaded the app & it was easy to use. There are a lot of options & you can customize everything. I was able to find the perfect invite I was hoping for! Putting the guest list together & sending out was a breeze & there are also options for that part too, like adding a gift registry which I didn't even think of until I saw it & then I ended up using that feature. I used the free version.
This is easy to use with lots of high quality options that are all almost completely editable. When life gets busy this allows you to still send cards without making a trip to the post office. If you use it even twice for sending invitations, it basically pays for itself. Then, if you add in greeting cards throughout the year, you're really getting a huge deal. Saves time, postage, and money.
