Tried it for the last few days, more then 30 times, and kept getting different results. There should to be a custom timer and perhaps a movable camera button. Also, the red arrors for aligning to the center of the eye often blocked out my eyes so I couldn't see them.
Reviews for Pupil Distance PD Glasses & VR
I downloaded this app to check my pupil distance. Upon first use It asked me to use a card BACKSIDE facing the camera (the bit with security code and a signature) This seems extremely sketchy to me. I understand that the owners of the app are going to come back and say that they never ask you to use a credit/debit card and encourage you to use a points card etc, but the example picture looks like a lady holding credit/debit card with signature strip and security numbers. Please think twice.
It's a little awkward and I only used it once, but I compared it to a manual measurement using a ruler for my son. It seems fairly accurate, giving me the same number I got on the first try whilst also recommending a separate value for reading glasses, which is what these are for. Seems useful! Will measure again just to be sure.
1st Review From the last update I've been having problems regarding the privacy settings, on both of my Android phones. Whenever I try to upload a new picture, a message comes from the app saying: "Please allow permission to pick an Image". All the actions regarding the appp are authorized on the settings of my phone. 2nd Review The developer has sent me an e-mail affirming that the problem would be solved, and it has not been solved so far. I am very frustrated as this is a paid app.
I needed my pupil distance for an online order of eyeglasses and not having any ruler to use I downloaded this app without much confidence it would give me a very accurate reading. I followed the instructions to the letter 3 times and got 3 readings of 60mm. The 5 second timer was really useful I couldn't have taken accurate pictures without it. I'm confident the results appear to be very accurate and the app is worth a 5 star rating.
Really helpful, and easy to use. I recommend going through the process more than once, and focusing on the phones front facing camera for the most accurate reading. I only had to do it 4 times. First time I got 58mm, second time I got 57mm, but the next two tries I got 58mm again.
Bought the app to try to get my PD for my new VR headset but I couldn't get the app to work with my device. Would either crash or fail to take a picture. I don't have a common phone (Nubia Red Magic 3) so my device may not be supported. It seems this app gets great reviews from people that can get it to work but most of the bad reviews are all compatibility issues. Hopefully the app devs can get that worked out.
Does the job, wasnt sure at first because it's easy to get different readings. Once covid hit and I saw specsavers eyeballing people's PD with a bit of paper I figured it's not an exact science. Your PD will vary depending on the distance you are looking at, so factor that in when you take the measurement depending what you need the glasses for. The phone at arms length is a good point to focus on, but if you stare ahead or very close up you will get different readings.
I'm glad I found this app. I used other apps to measure my ipd and I did not have good results. They were much more difficult to take photos and get the lines of the cards to position correctly as well as clearly see the center of my pupils. I measured multiple times with this app and got a consistent reading so I feel it's accurate outside of the course of action of going to an eye doctor to get a professional ipd measurement. If you're looking for something quick and easy at home, buy.
Couldn't get an accurate reading, zooming in is broken. The edited photo was zoomed in but the position is not saved, so I only saw the blank space at the top of the image outside of where the oval was focussed. This made it very awkward for me to position the crosshairs, and made it very difficult to get an accurate result.
