Would be my go to radar app it it had the ability to view more data than just one radar. Living on the West side of Michigan, just a few miles from the lake, being able to see what is going on in Chicago, where most of the storms come from, is very important. This ability to zoom out and see more is available in every other radar app. The app for my watch is a joke. Always shows the radar multiple states away from me, then crashes.
Reviews for RadarScope
So far, really great. The radar has picked up single rain clouds which is pretty impressive. Zooming in to street level is nice. I've only had a couple instances in the recent past where the radar hadn't updated in like an hour. But it's pretty consistent, and having up-to-the-minute radar is super helpful if you're walking, biking, or unsheltered in any way.
As a storm spotter I've been a user of this app for a long time and it's the absolute best radar out there, very high tech radar that comes in handy when I'm in the field. App also gives you the option to submit spotter reports (if your certified via spotter network). Everything you need as a spotter is in this app i.e. Super res velocities, correlation coefficient, and Super res reflectivity. It also gives you the option to see where other spotters are located. Awesome app!
RadarScope is the absolute best weather radar app, period. I've been a user for years, and it's my go-to any time severe weather (or just weather of interest in general) is in my area. Fantastic to have it available on my watch and laptop, too. Pro Tier 2 is well worth the investment as well, in my opinion. I don't know what I'd do without this app!
I have had this app for over a year now with a subscription. After I updated to OS version 11 the app would not even open. There has been two updates since this started and it still isn't fixed. I had even contacted support about this numerous times with a basic response from them that they passed my info to the developers. I had to cancel my subscription due to lack of timeframe to fix or any details on progress.
This app is ok, however paying $9.99 every year is a bit much for what it offers. It's not a groundbreaking app. It's nothing special. It's not offering me something I can't get elsewhere for less money so I really do not understand why they want me to pay again every year. I wouldn't mind paying the initial $9.99 and then paying a dollar or 2 every year after that if they gave me a good reason for it. As far as I can tell this app uses the same systems as all the others and they provide the same services without the yearly wallet gouging. Doesn't seem right to me. If there was some sort of mechanical maintenance or tech upkeep to be done that's fine, but let subscribers know that that's what we're paying for. At the very least a reminder that the subscription is running out or has run out would be nice.
My account does not allow me to report my position on Spotter Network, yet everyone else I know has no issue with it. I uninstalled and reinstalled, no luck. Also charges for basic things that Pykl3 came with for no extra charges or subscriptions. Cannot zoom in as far either.. I'm really let down being forced to purchase this app since Pykl3 is no longer supported or developed. If I could at least get SN reporting my location, I'd feel safer when chasing, and give at least 4 stars.
It's a decent app. But with an upgrade a year or two ago, RadarScope locked previously "free" features behind a subscription paywall. That would be understandable if I hadn't already paid several years ago to download the app in the first place. Now I'm being asked to fork over subscription dollars to get back the features that were originally included when I paid for this several years ago. Hence the two-star rating. You can do better, RadarScope.
Recently the location icon is much, much bigger. I haven't changed any settings so it must've been an update recently. I am disappointed with previously requested features being locked behind a paywall, such as a road layer. There's no Linux platform availability, which again is disappointing considering the lack of options outside of unidata. Otherwise, the app is accurate and works as it was made to.
This app was recommended. I decided to try it. I thought the basic app was free, but I was asked to pay $9.99, which I thought would give me the pro tier one version, so I agreed. Then, I received a message to subscribe, but that ended up requiring another $9.99 payment. When I went to see my subscriptions in PayPal, it only showed one pro one subscription. That is very confusing, and it looks like it had me pay twice for one app. I checked my bank and found two charges of $10.81 from Google.
