Reviews for Rarevision VHS - Retro 80s Cam

I paid for this and all i got was a crappy app that crashes every 3 seconds. Give me back my money! Update: From one to four stars! Kudos to the team for being very responsive to complaints and concerns of the users. After updating, the app got a lot better! No more crashing and hanging, no more bugs as well. 😊 Thank you!

i love the app for sure. i cant get enough of the late 80s and early 90s feel it has. it would be nice to have more different effects on the app or give it even a more authentic retro feel. For example, maybe you can add the feature where some VHS tapes show the blue screen first and then makes the sound were its about to start playing ( this could be a feature to use after getting done recording). or ypu can add an edit option were we can edit the videos or even pictures we take. But good work.

This app is perfect for making retro photos and videos. I use it way more than I use my normal camera. The filters are great, but making your own is even better! Can I suggest making a custom filter saving option? I think it would be easier to save them so you don't lose anything while switching from filter to filter. Other than that, this app is amazing!✨

Great so far. Got the paid version and unlike some users, I don't have any issues on S8. Satisfied with the purchase. I like how you can import videos. Also the features are pretty much like an 80-90s VHS camera so dont expect crazy filters or stickers or any thing like that. Basic zoom in/out, change the date, title bar.

The pixels of the glitchy/grainy effect are so consistent that it isn't realistic looking. It also doesn't allow you to remove it. However, you can move it around to different areas of the screen and make it more intense which is a plus. Overall, it would be nice if the grain effect was more random or there was more user contol of it. This way, it would be harder to identify that the filmer is using this specific app and not a real VHS camcorder.

The definitive mobile solution for capturing the VHS camcorder aesthetic; completely blows the competition out of the water. This would be a 5-star app if there was an option to just take photos. (13/04/23) EDIT: I completely forgot I left this review, however I did soon figure out that it was a long press on the REC button to capture a single frame, although the developer was kind to clarify this in their reply to me. Here's to a long overdue (and well-deserved) 5-star rating!

this is great. it really does bring me back to when we use to watch our home videos from our vhs. i love it. i think to a nice suggestion would be to somehow add a mechanical sound effect when zooming in and out to make it feel even more authentic (im not sure if technically capable but would be a nice little feature to have the audio distort when zooming or the default zoom sounds)

Authentic looking and high quality visuals, very customizable, and super dope that it's a one-time purchase and not a bs subscription like 99% of apps, which earns my respect. The only thing keeping me from giving five stars is the fact that importing videos almost always causes it to crash after not even 10 seconds of it being there, and that you're not allowed importing images. Other than those minor complaints, I can tell this had heart put into it and is absolutely worth paying imo.

this app is really great but considering I payed money for the full version you'd think I'd at least be able to change the time of the video... i play in a band and want to be able to change the time so that it lines up with when we were actually on stage lol, I could just buy a real camera but instead I'm complaining because this app is incredible and could be better with just a tiny added detail such as the timing.

I was legitimately shocked at how good this app really is. it looks like an actual era accurate camcorder and the 4.99 is 100% worth it too. tThe absolute only thing that I could see making it any better, would be to have 4 or so slots that you could set up and customize with different filter effects, and a way to lock the static flickering or adjust it more fluidly. like make it so that you can adjust the amount and it not go from none to just full on, make it able to be gradual! Great app!

I think this app is really good, but I think that you should have a brightness function or something because the images are way too dark at night. like I could barely see anything. if it's slightly dark, it's just pitch black. I was wondering if you could add a noise that would play whenever you zoom in or out

Really great app, don't regret buying the paid version. Definitely worth every cent!! However, it would be great if the date and time of imported recordings could be synced with the date and time that the original video was taken, rather than time of importing. Also, would be great to see more filters, as well as an editing option if possible. Anyways, all in all a great buy!

Been using since last year. This is the probably the best camcorder filter camera I get so far and I love the detail and everything. Though i feel like there's some stuff that I want to suggest if it's possible to have - Have an option to import video or saved the original video (no filter) while recording - Option to adjust quality (not too low and not too high) - More unique filters Overall, this is all I can say, I'm looking forward to see the future of this app

Had the free version a day and just baught the full version, because it's that good! It really revives the feeling of a camcorder and is fast and intuitive. Just a few things I wish: 1. Be able to save videos to SD drive 2. 4:3 videos also in portrait mode unless the widescreen option is enabled. (At least that's how I would expect it to work)

Really rad app. I shoot analogue video, real VHS, and this comes very close. The bottom film reel glitch on this though is a bit too much; real VHS doesn't have that many scratches. I wish you could add with a switch which layers were added to the video. Also, se analogie video switch things would be cool, like transitions and fades, distortions, picture in picture, etc. Please develop an analogue video mixer app!!! Would be awesome. Good work guys.

Overall it's good. But, there are a few buzz kills for me. 1- when I was a kid, I loved the freeze frame shutter effect. so while you are recording, you can take a photo in video,(not saved separately), see the shutter animation, then you will briefly see the image show until it fades away and the main recording continues. Sound can still be heard while the freeze frame is in effect. Also, when I play it back, I wish I could also somewhat hear the glitchy sounds, instead of seeing them.

Great!!! Just add more life improvements... SUCH AS A CAMERA!!! ( Don't know how this wasn't included...) Also like date, play, rec, pause, and time should be able to have adjustable placement before the video so it can be moved closer to the edge for those phones with bigger screens... and there should be video effects after you have finished recording the video...by this I mean enhance the static or brighten the video... Great job and thanks for your work

Edit: the below issue was with my phone updating. For whatever reason it didn't recognize the app anymore. The dev suggested deleting it and reinstalling. This fixed it immediately. I've changed the review back to 5 stars as it's an excellent app. This is really weird. I've been using this app just fine with my galaxy note 8 for months and now all I get is an error when I open it that says it isn't supported. Has something changed or is this just an easily solved technical issue?

Almost perfect. Just one tiny problem. You can edit dates on imported and recorded videos. But if you have the date onscreen, the time will be with it too. Which isn't editable. It stays accurate to the time on your phone. So if you import an old video, say at night, you couldn't correctly spoof it unless you import your video at the time it would seem realistic. Other than that, it works perfectly

Really cool app actually! I love how you have the titles feature and the steady zoom in/out is perfect (honestly, I wish regular camera apps had zoom like that lol). I also really appreciate that when you buy the app, you actually get the full app, none of that in-purchase stuff that I see a lot of. One thing I used to use in my actual camcorder that I didn't see here is a fade in/out button. Many cameras had that ability back then; you should add that here if possible. But overall, it's fun!
