I've tested a bunch of food scanner and nutrition apps, and Read the Labels is one of the better ones I've come across. The barcode scanning works really well and gives you clear info on whether a product has clean, simple ingredients or a bunch of sketchy additives. And sure, the database could be a little more complete, but it covers the most popular items. For an app that's free, it's a pretty solid tool to have when you're trying to shop healthier. Definitely recommend it for anyone trying to clean up their diet.

Description

Been using Read the Labels – Food Scanner for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that helps you figure out if the food you’re buying at the grocery store is actually healthy or not. Pretty solid if you’re into clean eating and avoiding all the junk in processed foods.

Here’s how it works: you just point your phone’s camera at the barcode and the app will instantly tell you if the ingredients are simple and healthy or if there’s a bunch of preservatives and chemicals. And there’s also a database where you can search for specific products and see a breakdown. Took me a while to figure all that out but it’s super useful once you get the hang of it.

Look, if you’re trying to clean up your diet and stop eating so much processed crap, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the database could be a little more comprehensive – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you want to start making more informed choices at the supermarket.
