I've been using the app for over a year and I LOVE it! My husband has it on his phone too, so it's super easy to meal plan, grocery shop, and cook without asking each other a million questions. I love the customizable features and that I can add my own recipes and notes.
Reviews for Real Plans - Meal Planner
← Back to Real Plans - Meal PlannerThere are a few awkward things in the UI but generally this works super well. The only big miss is that I can't send the play, recipes, and list to my husband who does all the cooking and shopping. I have to print it for him. He needs a read-only view of it.
So far, I'm not super pleased. Granted, there are A LOT of options for recipes, but I've had more frustration with scheduling than anything else. I try to change settings, but it seems to continuously pull from older settings making my new settings not function. Also, when I edited a recipe ingredient (b/c that is an option) it put that recipe for the rest of the week automatically when there had been a variety before. I'd love it if the app had a total reset function.
This has to be my favorite application on my phone. These recipes are the tastiest, easiest, and healthiest I have found anywhere. My wife and I have used dozens of recipe sources but this one is by far the best. It's worth every penny of the subscription. I absolutely love it. They could make the weekly meal planner ui a little easier to use.
I love the features in this app, the grocery lists, recipe importing, calendar style planning, but I wish more than one used could contribute. There are two cooks in the house and we can't both use the same account. I'd be ok with paying for both of us, but both being about to update the plan.
Real plans is the best! I use it for the AIP and it's exceptional for those with food restrictions OR anyone simply wanting to cook .. isn't that everyone? Yes it is! Real plans lets you choose what you enjoy, avoid what you don't, savea you money and helps you eat healthy .. just what everyone needs. Can't recommend this app highly enough! Use the free recipes or add your family favorites manually. It puts the plan together and your shopping list .. best thing ever!
App is hidden behind a paywall with no insights as to what to expect or trial period. After subscribing to see what it was about, I was met with a confusing interface where I had to put in my schedule. I immediately decided it was not for me and asked for a refund. 4 days later and no response. Not how I would do business but hope you enjoy my hard earned $25
unless you have an issue diet (gf, primal, vegan, etc...) then the recipes provided are not particularly worth much. But importing is great. Wish there was a way to hide recipes you didn't want shown as you have to keep scrolling through their recipes that you don't want. Update: another suggestion is to look at the way the notes in ingredients are set up. I'm an American living in the UK and so I import a lot of US recipes and the equivalent isn't always correct.
DO NOT PURCHASE any of the plans. Despite not having a refund policy anywhere on the website, they will not refund you. Honestly they're a class action lawsuit waiting to happen and I can't wait until it does. If you upgrade with the add-ons they still barely show any of those recipes in your meal plan. If you try to import recipes they never save and disappear right away. Recipes are bland, repetitive and boring.
BUYER BEWARE!!!! This app is expensive and costs way too much for what it offers. Save yourself time and money it has no redeeming qualities. But, like many other reviews state they will charge and charge and refuse to admit their practices are shady at best. Save your $30 mo or $49 quartely. They will bill without even a simple email. Also, customer service will refuse to refund your charges even with many calls and requests. DO NOT TRUST THEM.
This app is not all its cracked up to be. AIP recipes are not necessarily AIP. There is no ability to customize recipes or filter out foods/ingredients I don't like. There weren't really many AIP recipes and once you get in you they try to sell you additional AIP recipe packs at an ADDITIONAL $1-$5/month. It says you can cancel within 10 days, but when I cancelled same day I bought it, it said my cancelation was effective in 30 days. I wrote customer service to cancel. We'll see what they say
The Plant Based Whole 30 recipes were nonsense. Clearly no one at Real Plans actually made these recipes. Also the Instacart integration was a total fail. Only half of the items actually ended up in the cart and multiples didn't cross over. So you might have 5 recipes that cashed for an onion but only 1 onion ended up in the cart. And now I can't cancel the subscription.
I like this service a lot on a laptop/desktop, but I do want to use the shopping list on my phone. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't want to constantly have data on (it's cheaper for me to NOT have an unlimited plan). I pull up my list and it's there, but the behavior is wonky. 1. If I scroll up too high to see the top of the list (easy to do) it tries to refresh and then the screen freezes. I have to close the app, turn on my data, and restart the app. 2. Apparently I'm at my word limit.
Several glitches that make this annoying. 1. The recipes claim to be AIP, for example, but include ingredients that are not AIP such as sugar. 2. I can't click on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, so there's no way to get from the search feature to the menu feature without first adding a meal to the menu. 3. Once I set my menu, I wanted to view it. None of the meals I'd planned where on the menu. Instead, some sample menu was already planned and added to my shopping list. Not worth it!
I love this app! I still love the app but the mobile portion has become glitchy with updates. it's near impossible to add, move, or delete recipes in your planner. I can change my plans based on how many people I'm feeding. It's worth the yearly subscription for those alone BUT the money shot is the list is arranged like your local store.
Do not purchase! This app would be great if it worked! I have filtered for Whole30 recipes only and it will still populate recipes from other programs. I have selected recipes to favorites 2 separate times and they don't save. I have now tried canceling the subscription and it won't allow me, it keeps coming back as "failure" to cancel. Too bad it would have been convenient but the $27/month fee is outrageous for it even if it did work, which it doesn't!!
I'm giving this app 3 stars because of the cost. I've been using it for one year and have absolutely loved it, but the 100.00 a year cost is just too much. Especially of you add in some of the other subscriptions such as Nom Nom Paleo, Real Food Dieticians, Fed and Fit, etc. I have a lot of food sensitivities and this was a life saver, but a little too expensive for me and I hate giving it up.
I love the platform on the computer, but the app is terrible!! You can't even see what's on next week's plan that you just planned over the computer. It won't show you on the app. That's a problem if I'm at the store and realized I want to change things up. It also is not streamlined with the grocery list and pantry it seems. Sad, I was looking forward to a seamless process.
We've been using this for about 7 years and love it. It's perfect for anyone on a special diet. The recipes can occasionally be inaccurate or a pain but everything is easy to modify to our taste. We've been able to add our own recipes and ones we've found as well. It's handy that I can change the servings of things on the menu to account for who's home what nights. Hubby loves that it automatically generates a shopping list from the menu that you can add and remove from. Love it!
Great menu building and shopping list creating app. Choose any dietary restrictions, or menu styles (Paleo, whole30, gluten/ dairy free). Build out your menu for the week and it automatically builds your shopping list, down to the spices. It's fairly easy to import your favorite recipes from across the web and adjust the shipping list to suit your needs. It's a little clunky to move menu items between days in the menu, but that's the only real issue I've had since figuring the app out.
