This app is perfect for keeping track of my collection of vinyl albums and CDs. It's the fastest and easiest way to catalog everything and will easily pay for itself by allowing me to not buy duplicate albums.
Reviews for Record Scanner for Vinyl & CD
← Back to Record Scanner for Vinyl & CDAbsolutely amazing app, easy and quick to use. Hours of fun adding my collection. Definitely made me appreciate all the teenage years spent hunting down my favourite vinyl. Vinyl is a trip down memory lane like no other. 100% recommend this brilliant app.
showing wrong labels. it was like that i was scanning Celine Dion Cd but for some reason it shows some thing else i know discogs showing right ones so it means youre information on codes is bit of need to fix it. and it was not just one cd which was incorrect it was more.
I'm just starting with it I have just scanned like 20 records and it works very very nice. I can say almost flawless or practically flawless. I most probably will go to the subscription mode so I can scan few hundreds of records.
After being met by the 50 scan limitation complained about by other reviewers, I tried a number of times unsuccessfully, to take out a one month subscription. However the app would not allow me to make payment via the Google Play Store. Despite Google connecting to my bank for authorisation, the Record Scanner app repeatedly prompted me to use a third party payment provider (Stripe-Link) instead. I didn't proceed further as I expect to be able to pay via Google Play Store.
Tried to use discogs for years, but for whatever reason I had a hard time going through the exercise of entering my entire 1000 record collection. Recently tried ALL the different collection apps in the app store and Record Scanner was by far my favorite. With its different scanning capabilities I was able to easily enter my entire collection in about a week. It includes record values but my understanding is they aren't real time, but eventually will be. Looking forward to that addition.
This did exactly what I needed to catalog my collection. The pricing feature is nice, but the ones with high numbers must be for special pressings, and there is a wide range of prices for some records. It's nice to imagine I've got some valuable vinyl!
Great app. This makes it so easy to inventory my collection by just taking a photo of the album cover. This way if I'm out and see something interesting I can check to make sure I don't already have it. it also lets you set how many shelves you have and designate which shelf each record is on, makes everything easy to find. I'm sure I've only scratched the surface of its capabilities.
Great app functionality, but the cost is ridiculous: a $40 per year "evergreen" contract. For example, if I pay $40 and were to add all 500 of my LPs to this tool, I've made a big investment of time into this app. But... I'm now trapped into paying $40 every year (thus evergreen - every year the developer gets my green backs) because I want to keep using the app due to my investment. It's the same model Oracle uses - you become a hostage of the software. So... know what your getting into.
This is such a great app. I have so many records and CD'S and this let's me catagorize everything under each artist. That makes it easier when I'm buying records or CD'S to make sure I don't get a duplicate. There are various ways to add to your application like scanning in a picture of the record, scanning in the barcode of the CD, or scanning/typing in the number on a 45. The app also will tally up the suggested price. The support team is great and gets back to you quickly.
I would have given it 5 stars, but it falls short in some minor areas, while it is good App. A renewal charge of over $4 a month seems crazy to me. I also would love to see a sort by genre tool. Adding "sort by music genre" would be very helpful since that's how I store over 1000 lp's in my collection. (Rock - Jazz - Folk)etc. The final title of music by which I sort my collection (in music genre categories). It needs to be editable. It seems to default to "Various" way to often.
I really like using this app. Being a new record collector, it will help me keep track of my somewhat small (but hope for it to get bigger) record collection. The shelf interface is really cool, and the 3 scanning options for searching for a record is really helpful. I didn't know this app would keep track of the estimated value of my collection, that was a really pleasant surprise! Also keeps track of CDs and cassettes too!
Pretty great app, better than any others in the playstore. Free version means you can only save 30 to your collection, but you can check price values for free (but there's a limit on that, and I think it's around 200 or so). The cover scanner has a hard time identifying older records, and isn't the best at reading and picking out identifying words, but that's what the search bar is for. Overall I liked it and would definitely recommend it for vinyl collectors.
Initially I had some difficulties with the app. This was partly due to me and partly an error in the payment processing system. I am really impressed by the developer's support. Artur worked with me over several days to resolve the payment setup. I didn't have any problems with the app once that was resolved. It worked flawlessly and I was able to quickly scan several hundred CDs either from UPC codes or cover scans with an image search. The hit ratio was very high. I only had to resort to album title searches about 9 times out of several hundred. I enjoyed the whimsical messages throughout the app. Is there a bit of Monty Python influence???? In the future I'd like to have the option to download track information as well as album information.
Changed my rating to 5 stars. I really do love this app. I have had discogs for a number of years now, I'm not saying it's as good, but a few more updates and additions it could become the only one I use. The picture scan function is fantastic, and makes scanning in albums much easier. Only question i have is, it possible to have US country default in the search when scanning cover?
Only used the app for one day and 12 albums, but liking it so far. It's nice that I just take a pic of the album cover and the app finds the relevant info. One thing I noted, because albums might be reproduced or pressed in different countries, the catalog number can be different. Even though the record cover and tracklist matched, I want to be as accurate as possible. Finally, what is the COLOR field for - record color or jacket color?
Great way to organize your collection. I have two occasions bought a second copy of an album, not realizing I already had it; never again. Of course, that's been over the course of 50+ years. I do wish the organizing tool could put the collection in alpha order, but that might cause issues with bands like "Uriah Heep" (characters proper name) and all of the bands begining with "The". I have shared collections with others, which is pretty cool.
Works fine, scanner very good, and the few that I had to do a cover or title search were also easy to find. But I got 30 albums in and hit a paywall. $30/yr or more per month? Feels like a bait and switch. This is a simple database. I'm not storing files. I just want a list of what I have before I store them. A one time fee, $15 or $20, ok. But this price PER YEAR is ridiculous. I don't care about the valuations & other than that I have no idea what the fee is for. I'm out.
I've been very loosely keeping track of my collection over the years but knew I needed something more definitive so I'd stop buying albums I forgot I already owned! Wondered if someone made an app for that, and they did! Well worth the small annual cost, I save more than that now that I don't buy duplicates anymore. Very easy to use loading in your collection and also digging through it digitally once you're up to date. They respond quickly if you have questions about how to use the app, too.
This is a great app to keep track of the records and see an average price for each one. I used to buy too many duplicates. Not now because of this app. you can scan and organize 30 records for free. It does cost $4.99 a month for unlimited and that's a good deal for me now I'm not buying something I already have. If you have any questions on anything ask them and they will reply within 24 hrs. usually a lot sooner. Thanks Record Scanner guys
