Reviews for Remote for Fire TV & FireStick

Bob Marshall

Excessive and intrusive ads. I might have considered the paid version, but the ads prevented me from doing a full evaluation. Amazon now has a free Fire TV app in the Play Store, so there's no reason to use this one. REPLY TO DEVELOPER RESPONSE: You apparently didn't read my comments. Due to the excessive ads in the trial version, I couldn't even use it enough to decide whether to pay to remove ads. The app from Amazon is free; why pay for yours?

Will not connect to my Toshiba Fire TV. I downloaded the app, paid for it, losing the free trial. I do have my old remote, I was able to go into the settings & enabled the debugging thing, just as the instructions said to do. Also, powered off my tv&phone, hoping they would update & connect. But NO the 'connect' screen just kept coming back. I went through process 4x.. Still couldn't connect. Only positive is, I did not have a hard time finding where to cancel thankfully. 🤞I'm not charged!

You'd think this would just work with an Amazon Fire TV but it can't even find the TV. This app is a piece of (presumably) Chinese malware that steals both your personal and credit card info so they can charge you a subscription fee for an app you shouldn't even need. The TV should be able to be cast to from not just a phone but also official Amazon devices like a Fire Tablet, but no. Try FastCast, it's the only one that's actually free with a clean interface and works. Good luck.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I just misplaced our actual remote and thought I could download the app that was just a basic remote for the firestick. NOPE. Now, there are ADS, because, you can no longer make a product without trying to make an extra buck. I downloaded the app, and within 2 seconds of seeing the remote, an ad popped up. Then, after 30 seconds of using it, another pops up. They pretty much force you to buy a subscription to skip ads. Guess I'll be buying another remote.

Terrible. I was trying to "explore" the app without all the ads during my free trial and apparently hit the worst button possible because now there's a dumb box taking up the bottom half of my tv screen that refuses to go away. I've restarted my firestick, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, unplugged everything at the same time, and NOTHING has fixed it. Nothing. It's annoying. P.S. This is NOT about the million ads every 5 clicks. It's a free trial with NO ads. This is something else.

Trust me on this: just get a Roku. The app is pretty much unusable and riddled with ads. The channel selection is clunky, unintuitive, confusing to navigate, and filled with ads. It takes almost ten steps to open Netflix, which is deliberate because ads. Roku is MUCH faster and simpler to navigate, and also, no ads that make the app all but unusable. I will not be wasting my money on a Fire TV again, and a good chunk of it is the remote app.

I have never been more frustrated by an app. First of all, It plays ads every few clicks which is beyond annoying. I wanted a basic remote app and I felt like I was watching commercials on my phone just to skip commercials on my TV. Horrible. Second, it lags. Terribly. Third, it sometimes connects to your device and sometimes doesn't.

It simply did not work. I followed all of the instructions, turned adb debug on (it was already on, but I double checked), checked to make sure it was on the same network, restarted the fire stick, and never could get it to work other than for about 5 seconds and it stopped and didn't work again. I installed the Fire TV app instead and worked right away. No problems. I would definitely recommend that app over this, plus it doesn't have ads and doesn't try and get you to upgrade to "premium".

Told them it doesn't work on any device I own. Asked for a refund. Sold TV. Google says no refund. Had the app for a month and three days. Fixed income so can't be blowing cash to on apps that don't work. Do your homework b4 adding subscriptions.. After response. I did all that and wrote your company an email. Also it's not report a problem. That didn't come up as an option.

Terrible. You get 5-10 clicks and then an ad or two. Your 5-10 clicks includes any typing for searches, so by the time you hit search and start typing, there's another ad. Then you want me to pay a subscription to get rid of the ads and have full "functionality". I get that every click on every device is being monetized but give me a break. I went and got batteries for my remote instead; what a joke.
