Reviews for Remote for Fire TV & FireStick

← Back to Remote for Fire TV & FireStick

Excessive and intrusive ads. I might have considered the paid version, but the ads prevented me from doing a full evaluation. Amazon now has a free Fire TV app in the Play Store, so there's no reason to use this one. REPLY TO DEVELOPER RESPONSE: You apparently didn't read my comments. Due to the excessive ads in the trial version, I couldn't even use it enough to decide whether to pay to remove ads. The app from Amazon is free; why pay for yours?

Will not connect to my Toshiba Fire TV. I downloaded the app, paid for it, losing the free trial. I do have my old remote, I was able to go into the settings & enabled the debugging thing, just as the instructions said to do. Also, powered off my tv&phone, hoping they would update & connect. But NO the 'connect' screen just kept coming back. I went through process 4x.. Still couldn't connect. Only positive is, I did not have a hard time finding where to cancel thankfully. 🤞I'm not charged!

You'd think this would just work with an Amazon Fire TV but it can't even find the TV. This app is a piece of (presumably) Chinese malware that steals both your personal and credit card info so they can charge you a subscription fee for an app you shouldn't even need. The TV should be able to be cast to from not just a phone but also official Amazon devices like a Fire Tablet, but no. Try FastCast, it's the only one that's actually free with a clean interface and works. Good luck.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I just misplaced our actual remote and thought I could download the app that was just a basic remote for the firestick. NOPE. Now, there are ADS, because, you can no longer make a product without trying to make an extra buck. I downloaded the app, and within 2 seconds of seeing the remote, an ad popped up. Then, after 30 seconds of using it, another pops up. They pretty much force you to buy a subscription to skip ads. Guess I'll be buying another remote.

Terrible. I was trying to "explore" the app without all the ads during my free trial and apparently hit the worst button possible because now there's a dumb box taking up the bottom half of my tv screen that refuses to go away. I've restarted my firestick, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, unplugged everything at the same time, and NOTHING has fixed it. Nothing. It's annoying. P.S. This is NOT about the million ads every 5 clicks. It's a free trial with NO ads. This is something else.

Trust me on this: just get a Roku. The app is pretty much unusable and riddled with ads. The channel selection is clunky, unintuitive, confusing to navigate, and filled with ads. It takes almost ten steps to open Netflix, which is deliberate because ads. Roku is MUCH faster and simpler to navigate, and also, no ads that make the app all but unusable. I will not be wasting my money on a Fire TV again, and a good chunk of it is the remote app.

I have never been more frustrated by an app. First of all, It plays ads every few clicks which is beyond annoying. I wanted a basic remote app and I felt like I was watching commercials on my phone just to skip commercials on my TV. Horrible. Second, it lags. Terribly. Third, it sometimes connects to your device and sometimes doesn't.

It simply did not work. I followed all of the instructions, turned adb debug on (it was already on, but I double checked), checked to make sure it was on the same network, restarted the fire stick, and never could get it to work other than for about 5 seconds and it stopped and didn't work again. I installed the Fire TV app instead and worked right away. No problems. I would definitely recommend that app over this, plus it doesn't have ads and doesn't try and get you to upgrade to "premium".

Told them it doesn't work on any device I own. Asked for a refund. Sold TV. Google says no refund. Had the app for a month and three days. Fixed income so can't be blowing cash to on apps that don't work. Do your homework b4 adding subscriptions.. After response. I did all that and wrote your company an email. Also it's not report a problem. That didn't come up as an option.

Terrible. You get 5-10 clicks and then an ad or two. Your 5-10 clicks includes any typing for searches, so by the time you hit search and start typing, there's another ad. Then you want me to pay a subscription to get rid of the ads and have full "functionality". I get that every click on every device is being monetized but give me a break. I went and got batteries for my remote instead; what a joke.

This app is so infuriating. I can raise or lower my volume 5 increments and then I have to watch a video ad to continue. Basically every single button press comes with an ad. I'd rather just go buy several remotes for when I lose one instead of deal with the excessive and annoying ads. $3 a WEEK? $0.50 a day just to use the TV I've already bought? Ridiculous. Not worth. I can buy several remotes with no ads for less than they charge in a single month.

MIGHT BE A SCAM?? They offered a 3 day free trial, so I figured it was a good choice, so I knew I could connect before paying. App could not find device. I then followed all prompts and advice, turning my app and TV and firestick on and off and on and off. NOTHING. Go to cancel, so I'm not charged in a few days, but I was already charged. They make you choose monthly or yearly and then automatically charge that to your bank account. There is NO free 3 day trial.

Pretty good app. Connected fast. You have to pay to use certain features though, like the keyboard, which is annoying because I like using the remote online, so I can type stuff easily on the TV. Also don't like how there's an ad everytime you click a button. It's frustrating when there's people sleeping, and when I try to lower the loud volume, an ad plays. Other than that, a decent app for incase you lose your remote.

Literally the worst app I have ever downloaded. I've played .io games that have less ads than this. You literally click the remote to use it 5 times, ad. 5 more clicks, ad. Close the app and reopen it, you guessed it, ad. I've seen the trash responses by the developer saying they need ad revenue for their team, well your not going to get it if everyone keeps deleting the app because of all the ads. I could understand one every 15 minutes or each time you open the app, but this is insane.

This might be the least functional app I've ever used. The interface isn't designed terribly, but it is executed horribly. Good luck getting this app to stay connected at all, or even having the remote buttons actually do anything on your TV (even when it's "connected") The troubleshooting steps are pretty useless. Don't spend money on this. Just go buy another Fire Remote and don't waste your time or sanity on this app.

Just go and buy a new tv brand if you ever have to. Roku is a better tv brand since this is one of the most GREEDY companies ever. An add every few clicks? I once clicked the right button 4 times and got a 15-second add💔.. You guys say you need money from add revenue, tell people that you will improve, but don't do anything at all. You even give similar responses or the same response that you gave other comments every time! If you haven't bought this tv yet, don't. Roku is better!

This app is RIDDLED with ads if you use the free version. And not just banner ads, but full popups that will block the use of the remote while you're using it. The paid version is a $24.99/year subscription. It'd maybe be worth it if it was a one-time payment of $1.99, but as it is, it's probably cheaper to just buy a replacement fire remote.

awful app, every 5 clicks there's an ad, gl if you want to use the search bar. I've seen it said already but just because you have a team doesn't mean you can put this out as unusable as it is. maybe use pop-up ads instead of take over your screen videos. I'm lucky I'm not using it for long or else I would ditch my fire tv. actually just use the amazon fire tv app, it works perfectly and its free, deleted this as soon as I found it

I'd give 0 stars if I could. 6 dollars a week or pay for a lifetime of ad free for the exact price as a new remote. I can't do anything without 3 ads popping up. an insanely terrible ap. if you're pressed for a new remote, get an offbrand one off of amazon because this ain't it. an absolute embarrassment of an app. and "we need ad revenue" is not an excuse to make your app as unusable as it is. 5 clicks on the remote = an ad is not okay. this is maybe a 2$ app stop pretending otherwise

Gabage. This app is garbage. You click on the remote several times and an add pops on the screen, you cannot do anything until the add ends. It s not just a pop up, it is a full blown add covering your screen. Unless u get a paid version. Just buy a new remote for that matter. Don't bother with this. I can't even describe how annoyed I am rn because of this app.
