My husband bought one of the Hyper Tough brand code readers and it has helped us out majorly. I love that all I gotta do is use my Bluetooth to connect, go to the app, let it find the code reader, simply click Live Data, and it's starts recording what your vehicle is doing. It's easy to set up, and BOOM, there you are "ALL SET". It's pretty cool, how you get to pick the things you need or want to see when your driving if you're needing any assistance/help.

I've been happy with this scanner since I bought it, and was wildly surprised to see that it did a fair amount of updates automatically when I'd go to use it. For the price it's worth every penny. I'll have to invest in another scanner though that offers relearning procedures, but please correct me if I'm missing somewhere where it in fact does for simple fixes such as crankshaft position sensors, cam sensors, etc.

After spending over $230 on the 3140rs scanner today. I am extreemly disappointeI. I like the scanner but expected a lot more function out of the app. I sure did not expect to have to pay for additional vin numbers. The app will only work with one vehicle unless you pay extra.. I also cannot send reports via email or some other method, there is not any pc software. There is not even web portal to view your reports. What is the point for the scanner to have wifi & bluetooth.

This is actually a handy little app. It's really useful for looking up TSBs and Recalls. While the scan tool and app aren't quite as useful as the various dealer scan tools I've used in my tenure as a mechanic, it's really exceptional for the average consumer and their needs. I found it easy to use/navigate, and the tool had no trouble pairing to my phone. Obviously, that experience will vary based on individuals' phones and tech knowledge, but it worked well for me.

App works on certain vehicles. Takes forever to generate a report, then when it finishes it won't load to profile, try again multiple times and it states it can't generate report. Works on wifes car, but for some reason not my truck. Only thing I can do is run a live reading, even then it doesn't give options for readings of cylinder misfires etc

App worked great one time, and no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to connect again. Support was no help. I decided to try my wife's iPhone in case the dongle was bad, but hers connected once as well. Idk, maybe it was the product and not the app, but either way, it's made by the same company, and clearly they don't do extensive testing on their products. Lots of people having the same issue.

There's another app/sensor that is much better. That being B.D. You have to leave this app open. The app disconnects the sensor if run in the background, forcing a restart. Also, you can't scan codes while the car is in motion. And it doesn't automatically remember vehicle's credentials the next time it's plugged in. The competition does all of these things and more than I'd like to write about. AND THEY OPENLY ADMIT THEY WILL SELL YOUR INFORMATION UNLESS YOU LIVE IN CA

Had a blinking check engine light on a 2012 Toyota FJ, started running roughly with a very regular hesitation, didn't want to go over 35-40, so I drove another car to Harbor Freight and got this. I followed the directions and it paired easily. The one important difference, once it's paired, the app tells you to turn the vehicle ON, not ACC, just don't start it, that's right. It ID'ed a slew of things, I cleaned the Mass Airflow Sensor (dang bug), presto, drove it, tested it again, all clear!

I use this app with my Android 9. Pairing with Bluetooth hasn't been an issue. Haven't tried pairing with Wifi yet. Handy tool which provides a lot of information through this app. After scanning my vehicle, 2014 Mustang, a report was created with information on estimated costs, labor, and even the nearest auto shops that sell the parts needed to fix my vehicle's issues. This app has definitely saved me time and money from the mechanic.

Super helpful. I've done my own stuff on repairs for a long time but never owned a code reader. Since my local parts dealer will no longer erase codes, i bought this one really for that purpose alone. But what's really great is the ability to get real time live engine data when I'm driving. Very cool. And because it is Bluetooth enabled, i an able to record that data for review later when I'm not driving. I like this and would recommend it.

Loops after loops. Device disconnects after almost half an hour of scanning. IF the device finishes scanning "Failed to make report try again later" over and over again. Their tech support was no help at all. I did all their recommendations. This should be removed from store shelves it feels like a scam for a quick $100. I regret not buying an actual scanner and I usually don't regret my decisions I learn.

It worked once, but now it no longer is being detected by my computer when plugged in (with the green light on), nor when I plug it into my car does it connect with my phone's Bluetooth -- even after following the step by step directions the app provided to connect to Bluetooth (also with the green light on still). It isn't recognizing that the device is plugged in nor connecting with Bluetooth, but the green light?!? What a waste! I hope someone can create a Solution to Repair this problem!

Mediocre. It works, but so many flaws. Why do I need to login? no reason to require a login. Why does it need location data, absolutely no reason to require location data. scans get hung up if a module doesn't respond (such as broken tire pressure sensor modules) and won't continue the scan. Doesn't provide information on repairs or how common the error code is which every other BT scan tool provides. Very much aimed at getting you to take it to a repair shop rather than helping fix the issue.

Great app so far, told me nothing wrong with one vehicle, but showed me what is due to be checked at the next maintenance interval. It also displayed some possible future issues and a chance of needing to be replaced as well as general costs for replacement. The only issue I have had with connection to my phone was when trying to connect while it was scanning the vehicle. I read afterwards that doesn't work well. So I wait until after the scan is done and have no issues with it connecting!

This is quite possibly the greatest app to have ever apped. I'm not just saying that because a pocket scan tool gives me a tech boner. This app is extremely well designed and developed. It looks good. It loads fast. The interface is easy to use and understand. Dummy-proof step-by-step connecting. Automatic and full system scans. Solutions simply explained. It tells me what to buy, !gives me a part number! And gives me a source to buy the item. I can go on all day.

I've used on my son's friends car to diagnose his check engine Iight, and it was completely different then what the mechanic said, needed a new catalytic converter, turned out it was the O² sensor. Slight price difference. So far I've been impressed, as the app gives you the info of the code, so you don't have to go thru the huge list of codes to find the description of the fault code. Plus you get automatic updates to the database, w/out yearly subscription costs.

While it's handy for a quick scan, the app seems to be fairly convoluted for what it does. There are plenty of categories to choose from, but in my case it always attempts to scan the TPMS system (and fails). Want to check some live data? Too bad, it spend 25 minutes scanning TPMS and hangs and or says 0 for tire pressure. (2016 Toyota) I was able to pull some data from other sensors like purge and barometric pressure, but others were missing like Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor among others.

This app is amazing, I had no idea it could be so simple to find out what the check engine light is indicating, thankfully mine was a simple temp thermostat fix and it was super easy to figure it out, follow the steps and you'll see what the error is and what the fixes could be. im recommending to everyone I know.

While it is useful, it's tedious to use. Random connection issues, left and right. One main issue for me is that the device can't read a few of my cars' VIN#'s from the ECU, so I have to manually enter it every time. Why isn't there an option to save VIN#'s and car profiles to make this quicker? If this could be remedied, this review could easily be a 5 star for the usefulness.

I hope y'all fixed the bug where the live data doesn't work. that's 90% of the reason for buying this unit. I'll report back if it's fixed and give more stars cause it's a decent unit otherwise. it does what it says except with the live data function. Update: I have been in contact with a representative via email and no answers so far just a request for a data capture which I've sent many of before and after they asked. live data does not work, I have new android 14 high end device. fyi
