Not ready for prime time. I really wanted to like this app. Got the pro version. The desktop version works a bit better to manage a ride, but the mobile app takes over your GPS, has no dark mode (the pro has a dark theme, but that only applies to the map, not the super bright white speed, location, info section), adding waypoints while on a ride is awful, navigate sucks, and it just doesn't justify the cost when Waze is free. I uninstalled during my last ride, it was that annoying to use.
Reviews for REVER - Motorcycle GPS & Rides
← Back to REVER - Motorcycle GPS & RidesCould have been great, but currently unusable due to constant glitches. 9/10 times I tried to use "twisty routing" function it would refuse to route and give an "unknown error". Both the start and the end points were on public roads, in mid-size towns, and yet the app would simply refuse to create a route. And then after 10 unsuccessful tries it would randomly work. Extremely unreliable and frustrating. Glad there was a free trial, as I'm definitely not paying money for this.
The moving map display no longer works. Not happy that I paid for a subscription and now can't use the app because its most important feature does not work. This has been going on long enough. Fix it, already! Update: it was fixed for a time. Now, not working correctly once again. Most recent update killed the "resume" function. When I select it, the timer resumes, but no more route or mileage tracking.
After three attempts at using this app, I cannot recommend it. Building a route, while still mostly manual for me, is nice and painless. Doing anything else is awful. Randomly missed a way point and gets stuck, the navigation voice gets stuck in a loop, etc. I had my premade ride today ruined because it kept missing checkpoints or getting confused and I gave up trying to fix it an hour from home and turned around. Concept is great, execution is bad, and I'm out $40.
This app was pretty awesome for a year, I tracked all my rides on it. I like the challenges. It was fun to see where I went and how long it took. But all of a sudden it just doesn't track my rides. It starts out like it is, and then after 40 minutes when I stop for gas or something, I'll check it and it will say I've been riding 30 seconds. I've been on about 3 rides now, going probably close to 250 miles totaling several hours, that the app records as about 6 milea and 10 minutes
Was great until the update. Now i cant just hit a button and find my bike. Which was the whole reason i bought the rlink and rever subscription and the pro subscription as well. Granted i didnt know that when buying but it was very convenient having the button right there. Now i have to zoom out and find it myself. Pretty disappointed since i spent so much on this device and service. (Around 650ish with installation) please put the button back!
Most frustrating app. Always freezing up. Won't let me back out of a ride once I start. Maybe if I could come back and start ride again another day. It is a nice idea. I really want it to work. It needs to be more user friendly. Needs ease of modifying rides. If a ride is started but not completed. Let me back out and ride later. I dont know much more yet. App won't let me do anything now. It's froze.
This app is pointless. You can search and find tracks in the area, but you can't select them and add them to your route. The best you can do is set a route to the starting point of someone else's track. There's no data available for any route (difficulty level, season date range, comments, etc) Map overlays don't work, at all. The only reason I have this is because it's included free with my cycle gear membership. It needs so many things fixed.
Constant technical issues. In the middle of a ride, it's almost impossible to change navigation, constantly gets stuck at turns and won't reload, and just annoying to work with! I paid for the full year and now I'm out 40 bucks. It's good for plotting your own course and recording rides but it's too underdeveloped to use as a GPS substitute. All my settings seem correct and I have no issue with other apps.
Turn-by-turn navigation is awful. If you are not starting your ride from a start point or you are not following the route, you are done. It simply stops doing any meanful things. The route planner itself is quite good. I had only one issue with the Rever remembering the fact that I don't want to use freeways. So, when I opened the route in the application, it rebuilt it using freeways.
What a frustrating app! The app allows you to download map areas to be used offline, but it doesn't automatically switch when you go into an area without data coverage. Another really annoying thing is when I plan routes on my computer and then edit them later. The changes don't appear when I open the new route on my phone. It's still the old route. I thought things were supposed to be synced between devices. But wait, there's more. Sadly Google limits review length. This could be so much better.
worst app ever. can't login, can't cancel subscription if I don't log in. NEVER USE THIS APP I contacted tech support, and all they did when they got back to me was re-srt my password. That was not the problem. I cannot log into the app but I can log in through a browser. Fortunately, I figured out how to cancel my subscription. I'll never use it again. Don't pay for PRO - they don't care about their customers.
This is the best motorcycle route and navigation app I have used to date, but for $20 a year I would have hoped for slightly more functionality. I had to spend 30 minutes on my last ride getting it to continue turn-by-turn navigation when my phone screen turned off. It took me on beautiful, curvy, scenic mountain roads I have never been on before which is why I continue to use the pro version. It would be nice if there were more route options than curvy, fastest, or off road.
Sadly Useless. The concept is great. Explore and plan on desktop/laptop then pull up the route on your phone and get turn by turn directions. And it would be wonderful if it worked. Unfortunately the app does not properly lock the screen for me so it goes right to sleep and stops giving you directions as soon as you hit the screen timeout. The logging feature seems to still work somewhat in the background but it has a tendency to cut out and miss whole sections of a ride. (Samsung A35)
Pro subscriber: not a bad app in theory but useless or dangerous other times. It cannot redirect. Then even if you make your way back to the static path, it never realizes youre back on the route and you cannot get turn by turn until you reset (not easy), or even worse, it'll endlessly repeat the first instruction on loop "turn left at X turn left at X". It also doesnt remember any searches, so youve got to type in the same address each time. Much more I can say but I'm at the character limit.
Absolutely the worst turn-by-turn navigation (USA). After starting the route, I went out of the way to buy some gas. The app got so confused that it sent me back home and said "You have arrived". I then switched to a different app which was also not good so I gave this one a try again. Again I didn't follow the direction and it returned me to the starting point again.
The route planning feature is awesome and it's helped me find some amazing dirt roads. 1. Please, make this app work better in landscape 2. About 50% of the time after I save a ride I get an error that says "You have rides that are not synced with the online database. Please click here to upload your rides." I can click it 100 times it shows it's syncing but the error still persists. I can check my routes from my friends phone and they show up there. Have to wipe app data constantly! PLEASE FIX!
the only good reason to have a rever account is access to the butler maps via computer, skip the app. the online version is missing a folder system to organize your routes (it's incredibly annoying to remember when I built a route in order to find it in the date-based system. It is also missing a way to turn on and off different folders of routes that you've built, so you're essentially stuck with just the butler info, and while that is useful, I'd like to be able to add POIs and my own info.
Used this app in Pro for a year and it has some great features. Here's where it falls short for me: it doesn't work well in landscape mode and if you go off track it does not recalculate from your position, it desperately tries to get you back on track, usually to the starting point and even sometimes turning you around. Sharing with other riders works well but sending a link to friends/family often doesn't. Latest update hasn't fixed any of these problems. Disappointing.
If you are here. it's because you have an Android device. This app is only partially functional on Androids and is a steady stream of disappointments. It has some bugs, but easily beats everything else out with having access to Butler Maps. Bugs pop up from time to time, and support is pretty quick to acknowledge your issue. Eventually fixes are made, only to have the next bug surface. Use their service on a different device if you can, because this IS NOT Android Auto compatible.
