Reviews for Riser: Motorcycle GPS & Social

Great app. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. It's just a pity you can't use it with Android Auto.

I truly recommend the pro version. I am in no way sponsored or affiliated in any way with Riser, although that would be cool. As long as you remember to record the trip, this app gives you anything you can imagine in regards to data. The trip planner is hands down better than any other app I have tried.

The ONLY reason I give this 2 stars is because it maps your ride and it does provide round trip routes. That's it. I've been sent down dirt and private roads, through apartment complex parking lots, down some random road 300' just so I can turn around at a waypoint, and so many other similar issues. I will be demanding a refund on my subscription. This app is garbage.

I just switched from Rever to Riser, and so far, so good. It would be nice to be able to select roads somehow. Sometimes, the app does not select the best curvie roads. But otherwise, nice app. Update, I figured out that if you tap-hold a specific point on the map, it will allow you to customize your route. It's really helpful!

Needs an option to avoid dirt roads. Only option I see is "motorway," so it's clearly a European app. It really struggles to reroute if you try to skip a dirt road. When you pass a turn, it doesn't even recognize that you're traveling the opposite way as the map is telling you. It doesn't say turn around or suggest a different route. It just freaks out with the map reorienting back and forth until you give up and close it. I'm reducing my rating of the Cardo app because the suggested Riser.

For tracking & logging your ride, it seems to be fine...but the navigation still leaves a lot to be desired even after this recent update. I let it plan a round trip ride & it turned into a dumpster fire. At one point it had me turn off the main road only to tell me to do a U-turn after 0.3 miles, then it had me going through some side residential areas in a small town for no reason, & the final straw was when it wanted me to ride down an old dirt road.

Off late, I realized that the app is not working properly, or at times, it just isn't working at all. This issue started after the last update. I am using it on a Samsung S24 Ultra without any restrictions on background battery optimization. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but all in vain. What could be the reason?

The ride tracking is pretty good, although I don't think it records speed as often as position for some reason. The routing is just bad though. Curvy and SuperCurvy often just route you off of the main road into neighborhoods which, while probably technically curvier, are much more boring and just elongate the ride. Or it'll divert me off of a highway to take a couple surface streets which end up back on the same highway. Not great, and just boring.

RISER is almost a great app; almost, but not quite. RISER's pack feature is a great idea, and makes it almost the ideal app for motorcycle groups. A user can create a group and allow others to join who are within a half kilometer from the user. All the users who join the group can then see all the other users on a group ride. There are several problems with RISER that just kill its usefulness: 1. It's impossible to import a map to follow from an external source. It would be great if the user were able to create a map on Google Maps, and then import that into RISER for him and others to follow. 2. It is practically impossible to create a track to follow for later use and save it within the app. You can save tracks that you record by riding, but the only way to use a new track created within the map is to use it immediately. 3. When creating a route within RISER the options for creating the app seem bugging. Selecting the fastest route, for example, in my test, created a route that was twice as long as the curvy map. 4. When selecting a location from the map to use as a routing point, street names and addresses displayed for those points are usually way inaccurate and unhelpful. I really wanted to like this app. For the reasons given, I can't use it.

Horrible gps tracking and the routes dont make sense. "Your location" icon is lagged so it's easy to miss turns and the route doesn't recalculate to get back on track. In an effort to add "curves" the route tries to take you on private access roads, driveways, dirt roads and fire cuts! Glad I tried it out before I paid for the subscription.

Not impressed The app gives me a list of people I may know. From Germany, Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. Um, I'm in the U.S. I can't reach out to people who may be in my area... It uses a lot battery. Top user in my running app list. So far, other than using this is as about as useful as using Google maps. Got a long way to go before I give it any more stars.

Honestly it's pretty useless. If I could program in routes for a ride and share that with my friends so everyone could follow the route that would be great. But it doesn't work that way. So it basically can tell you where you at currently and if you try to use a predetermined route it will try to tell you to go another way. Not really sure what actual use it is.

Great start, a little fine tuning needed. I have two complaints; 1) when I set my destinations and then drill down to try to see what roads it has me taking, the blue line hides the road names. 2) It'd be nice if it gave options that you could select from like G maps. If I've traveled between the two points before, I may want to see something different.

This app definitely needs some work. First off it chews through a phone battery unless you phone is set to conserve power. It would be very useful to have an ability to raise the volume of the directions. While playing music the instructions were faint. If you go by a turn, the app does nothing to alert you to make a U turn. Twice on my trip the app dropped the route and did not record. Having riser voice commands through the Cardo would be a game changer.

It can't follow a simple pre-planned route. The route is correct on the website from my laptop. When I save it and bring it up on my phone in the app it is still correct. When I try to ride it, Riser tries to take different roads immediately. It's just as bad as Rever if you try to plan your own routes and pick your own roads using multiple waypoints. It simply can't do it.

Appears to have a good foundation but when searching for groups, I can't find any for my state, and there's only 1 veteran group on the entire app. Most of the users are non American. It also requires premium to allow family to track you, and with the lack of actual users, I will be uninstalling rather than spending my money for a simple feature.

Seems ok, what comes up on my phone screen is not what shows as supposed to be there in the pro version. For example, there is no current weather link, there is nothing that says Adventure Navigation, it just opens up to a map, it doesn't show my arrows to rearrange way points when planning, to name just a few. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to plan a trip, save it and use it the next day, for example. Seems to be only a tracking app, not a trip planning app.

Unintuitive and confusing. Tried this app in the black hills, even gave premium a try. Did fine to let me plan routes offline for use, but navigating this app is a wandering mess of trial and error. The nav really struggled when I didn't exactly hit a waypoint. We stopped for gas and I switched to Google Maps. sigh. Too much focus on social media aspects, I just want a solid route planner w/nav that doesn't change just because of traffic. Can no one get this right??

For a free app, the options available are awesome. I used GO Ride before they discontinued their app, and this has nearly every feature that app had. I would love to see an "Avoid Unpaved Roads" option. I will definitely be using this for years to come, and would even pay for more features if it was a one time or anual small fee. The monthly fees of other apps is absurd, everything doesn't need to be a subscription!

Confusing map. I like to pin the orientation but you can't do that while navigating. Can't save locations like home and work. When I end a route it still tracks what I am doing and I have to stop that before I can start a new one. Routes worked well and it runs great. Just no way to adjust any settings. If I could turn off the social stuff, ride tracking, save locations, and change map settings I would love it! Just needs some simple toggles in the settings.
