This app failed to do its only job - block spam calls. After running it for a week, it didn't block a single one. The pain management, car warranty, and free cruise calls continued to flow in. Secondly, there isn't an easy way to add a number to the block list. It should have some integration into my recent calls so that I can simply select a number. As it is, I have to remember the number, open Robokiller, go to the block list, and type it in. Overall, a very good idea that doesn't work.
Reviews for Robokiller - Spam Call Blocker
← Back to Robokiller - Spam Call BlockerIt only talked with 2 calls, in all the time I had it, and one of them was an important call. I watched my AT&T software show spam and telemarketer calls, that this app never stopped. It only seemed to block Private calls. The bot used the same ploy for both, and wasn't any big deal. Plus I saw an introductory trial, but was charged right away. Maybe other people had a better experience.
I liked this app but ultimately uninstalled it. I really liked the fact that my phone didnt ring and the call was forwarded to another number to be dealt with. So no voicemails like other apps. However, I could not add numbers to be spam. Seems like the iOS version you just swipe to add a number to the list but this is manual on Android. For some reason I could not get the app to deal with the numbers manually added. Too bad, cool app.
Very happy with this. So far, it's done exactly as advertised. I'd been having issues with a spam caller, since june, calling constantly, claiming to be a health insurance provider, and found after some research that I wasn't the only one experiencing this problem. Setup of this app has been very straightforward, and so far, they haven't called yet. Hope I've finally found the solution!
Downloaded less than half hour ago and I'm definitely impressed with it. I've been getting calls from US Debt Helpers (according to caller ID) several times a day. I've tried everything to get these calls blocked even other apps. When I'm listening to music it interrupts it and several times throughout the day is irritating. I didn't even know I had another call until I picked up the phone to check time and saw notification from Robokiller that a call was blocked. Absolutely thrilled!
It's really great! Feels so much better not getting those damn calls in the morning or texts about the election daily, but a few things: - As a messaging app, it kinda sucks. On the notification bar, it doesn't use the name of the contact, only their number. It has trouble receiving videos and pictures sometimes. The call log isn't up to date.
I'm sure it would be great for blocking spam calls. Sadly it Refused to let me skip adding this for text messages during the initial setup process. I only want calls blocked not messages. Seems very controlling/pushy to me. And such an easy fix! Just allow users to skip that setup process. 😮💨 I uninstalled. Already being harassed by spam callers - I refuse to tolerate being harassed by this app as well. It's a shame - was really looking forward to using this app. 😞
This App used to work great, but over the years it's stopped working, and the customer service is no help at all about this. Over the past 2 years, I have been recieving many scam calls going through to my phone despite having call protection on. And on days when I turn Call protection off because I am expecting important phone calls, those important calls get blocked. so this app blocks calls that I don't want blocked; and allows calls that I do want blocked. it wasn't always like this.
Great idea and concept. Unfortunately, I did not get to witness the power of this app since I did not have it long. There are too many glitches when switching from my RCS texting to Robokiller. Long load times when opening a text. Some text messages and photo are not received. People tried to contact me and it goes to voicemail, etc. Promising but not ready for prime time use.
**UPDATED** IF I COULD GIVE IT NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD... if you don't subscribe to the premium tier as soon as you install this app, you will have non-stop text messages, spam calls, and everything. it's a dirty predatory way to get you to purchase their upgrades to clean up a problem they create!!! Garbage app for android, doesn't work doesn't intercept calls doesn't block calls and there's no easy way to copy and paste photos & numbers into the app Not sure who wrote this.....
Once you get familiar with how it works, it does a decent job at filtering out calls. UPDATE: In response to the Dev's comment below, I have learned over time that the spam calls which are getting through are the ones where a Robo recording is played by the calling number so Robokiller thinks it is a legit call. UPDATE #2. Several times recently, I raised the volume of a voicemail while listening to it using the button on the side of my phone and that action deleted the message. Unbelievable!
Update: The app hasnt been working correctly for some time. I had to reset my whole phone recently, but after reinstalling the app, it now won't set up call protection properly, and I've tried all the troubleshooting I could find on redit and other sources. Very sad. ... Love love love this app. Even if it didn't have the added bonus of screwing with scammers and telemarketers, it would still be an amazing app. Very reasonably priced, easy to use. Keep up the good work!
This really irritated me. I didn't even get a chance to try it because it kept demanding that I change my default sms app to it. I dont want it for texts. I do not get unwanted texts. I simply wanted to try it to see if it could block the spam calls and voicemessages. Also it made me subscribe or sign up for free trial before demanding to take over my sms messages. I didn't even get to try it for a minute on these calls. I'm canceling the free trial and will uninstall. This really upsets me.
This app use to work great. For over a year now it still blocks calls but the answer bots quit working a long time ago, says I have recordings to listen to but when I click on it there is no recordings at all. Trying to get help from customer service is a complete joke. Send an email and wait for days before someone answers it and hope they know what you're talking about. If they dont then might as well put a different help request in since youre just wasting your time talking to that one.
Love it for calls. I am smiling when I listen to the messages when robo messes with spammers. It is funny and appreciated. You can tell they are unaware of this app. It is not working well enough for text. Seems to be an issue on the Galaxy S23 phones. runs too slow, you can see it looping while you wait. When I sent text messages I couldn't see them. So I wasn't sure if they went through. I had to take it off the Texting.
Used to work great. Seems like they've just stopped maintaining the app. Broken app links to help topics. No working way to update personal information. Doesn't protect personal info at all anymore. Blocked calls still ring through, even when blocked. Constantly says I have messages, but doesn't show me any new in app. Just a broken mess, that doesn't work has advertised. Bordering on being a scam at this point.
Right now everything seems to be working the way it says it does. I've only had this app for a day and I've seen a decrease in my phone ringing with spam calls. if it keeps going this route I'll be giving this app a 5-Star rating and paying for the year long subscription which is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be seeing as the weekly subscription is $4.99. Which if I'm being honest is sort of a ripoff when you can get the whole year for $29.99.
I had a yearly subscription. It worked OK, once I figured it out. Not super user friendly, especially considering the possibility of sending an important caller into robo-hell such as when my doctor called. I eventually figured I wanted to renew my subscription, but all it does is bring up some black page that is inexplicable and doesn't respond. I guess they don't want my custom.
That's BS that I answered all those questions and provided my number before there was any hint that this was a subscription service that costs $4.99 per week after 7 day free trial. When I saw that I exited the app immediately. Now when I open it, they make me an offer (to use robo killer as my texting aop) that I can't refuse. literally my only option is "Continue" or close the app. I sure wish I would have looked at recent reviews instead of relevant reviews, so I could have avoided all this.
I used to love this and recommend to everyone. Their text part is awful so I always used my regular text app. Recently I logged into Robokiller to see my voicemails and it kept telling me to change my text to theirs and I couldn't use it until I did. There was no way around using their text app, which again, is absolutely awful. I don't want to log into Robokiller and then scroll to the text tab to send or read a text and it's insanely slow. It's ridiculous. I cancelled my subscription.
