I set a schedule for some lights on my house, and it works fine for a few weeks, then just randomly stops working. every attempt to fix the problem results in a message "operation failed. try again later." I wind up having to uninstall and reinstall every single light. I am done with Roku lights. way too much hassle.
Reviews for Roku Smart Home
← Back to Roku Smart Homedo not get these cameras. one of mine stopped working and then suspiciously my other one stopped working a couple days later. one is completely dead the other one won't connect after deleting it and trying to readd it. spent 2 hours troubleshooting with someoneone there. they claim to send replacements, but no one can find a tracking number. I am going elsewhere.
After having my camera for almost 2 years, a brand new update to the app was pushed out that now makes ALL events a paid service. No more picture notifications. With this update, the camera is nearly useless without a subscription. [EDIT: For some reason, I can't even view the live feed anymore on this app, throws error code -35 only. I can still watch the feed on my roku TV tho so???] Removing free features is a horrible practice. I wasn't even notified about the change.
I've also had this for about a year. The camera inside records just fine. but my doorbell one doesn't record at all. Sometimes I'll get a couple of recordings. I live in a high crime and high traffic area so I need it to record. I've uninstalled the app, restarted the device and ensured all the setting allow for even recordings. I just bought Wyze cameras and they are on their way. Someone in my neighborhood post videos daily of all the crime. So I'll only have this for 1 more week.
Constant connection issues - I have to at least three times a week go in and repair my Roku bulbs with this app. it doesn't matter it happens overnight, it happens in the middle of the day. there are times where I can't turn them off there are times where I can't turn them on. all I get is the connection error icon on each bulb. at this point I wish I had never gotten Roku bulbs in the first place and had gone with a different brand
So far, so good! When I first purchased the cameras and got them installed it was a little touch and go, but after the first month, things smoothed out, and they are fine. I have some issues with the solar panels, but found out I needed to keep them clean and after that, there were no issues. I would have given it 5 stars, however, I cannot seem to connect my out door camera base up to wifi. they are still wired. If I can get them to connect wireless, I could get more range/wifi juice to them.
DOES NOT WORK. I bought 2 smart outlets. Aside from *sometimes* being able to control them from my phone, no other features work. I got this app to control my pets' heating and lighting elements on a schedule. This product and app have given me nothing but headaches. It doesn't follow the schedules I set. It has connection issues. It turns lights on and off without reason. The animals I keep depend on very specific heat and light. This malfunction legitimately puts my animals in danger. 0 stars
Worked great when I purchased them. You would get notifications and the app saved still shots. Months later the app updated overnight and now the cameras, all models, are useless for security purposes. You are forced into a paid subscription to get screenshots, live feed is glitchy with lags and disconnects. What good is a security camera that doesn't notify you and doesn't keep a record when something happens? I bought cameras with specific features, which Roku then removed remotely. Useless.
I don't like that it doesn't offer continuous view recording and just offers limited snapshots of an event. The nest cam allows for continuous recording so even if an event takes place you can actually scroll back in time to see what might have led up to the event or after the event. You're not limited to only seeing just a snapshot that only lasts for a short period of time like with Roku. There are other issues as well but the limitation of only 500 characters doesn't allow me to write more
I have basically bought cameras that do not take pictures. These were great at one point in time the best. Now they might connect, maybe .At least I finally got one to connect. The features advertised on the box when I purchased them no longer all work and every help page is an advertisement for a subscription just page after page. After spending hours working on that one camera it's really hard to have any confidence the subscription will make any difference. Absolutely useless.
When I first installed the 3 cameras indoors and got them all hooked up and operational I was impressed. It worked well for a little while but them it started getting quirky. First the cameras would inexplicably go offline, then I couldn't delete the recorded events. I tried clearing the cache, nothing. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, again no change. I'm about to just scrap the system and uninstall the app
I loved this camera. It worked beautifully for 3 months, no problems. Then suddenly it stopped running. I spent 3 hours on the phone with support reconnecting the camera, the internet, the app. Nothing. That was a month ago and I'm still trying to get it back on and the camera refuses to scan the QR code. I'm paying for a subscription for a camera that refuses to work. I'm getting a different camera altogether. I love using Roku itself, but do not buy a camera.
Used to love it. Scammy like. Very. If you don't pay for the subscription now, you only get every other third notification of detected motion. but how else would they get their money even though you paid $110 for the camera already? which is no use of having if it doesn't alert you to motion! It would instead, give you the still picture frame of the notification, but NOT the video if you didn't pay for the subscription. No problem but now, the notifications are gone forever once you swipe em.
Avoid at all costs. Roku cameras are horrible. Once the trial of the sub is done, you don't receive any notifications (regardless of what they'll tell you). One of my cameras now refuses to connect to my network. I had to delete the device because it wouldn't connect, and now I can't even set it back up. I have 3 other cameras that consistently need to be unplugged and plugged back in. Roku cameras have been a complete waste of money and I wish I never bought them.
Events missing even with paid subscription. I receive pop up notifications on my phone for motion that has been detected but when I go to the Event Timeline the recording isn't there. The only way I can see the event is if I tap the notification when I get it. I pay for a subscription. I followed the troubleshooting on the website and with Customer Service, I even updated the app. The tech support with Roku sucks. I prefer Ring. I gave 2 stars because they are cheap.
I've been using the lights for several months now, had some issues about two months ago. Once the problems occurred I reached out to support for help on solving the problem. I tried with their "live" support but it was weird and ended up emailing them. I don't get a response for another week until they email me back asking if the problem was still occurring. ( which it most definitely was) I wrote them back saying yes it is still happening and I would love some help.
Let me paint a picture for you: you purchase multiple cameras and have the $9.99 monthly subscription plan. The day there's a security emergency and you log in to get the video, it's nothing but an almost useless picture. The cameras stopped recording events because the app claims you don't have a subscription. Then you spend almost 2 hours on the phone with their support only to be told to update the app that you already told them you just reinstalled. Don't choose Roku! I'm so disappointed!
If you are considering buying something that uses this app, don't!! I have two light bulbs and at first they worked great! Now, every other time I want to use the app to adjust the color or brightness or turn them on or off the app 'fails to connect.' To fix this issue I have to uninstall the app, reinstall it, wait for an activation code to be sent to my phone and then enter the code. Additionally, I had to wait thirty minutes to connect with customer service to talk to someone.
I pay for the monthly membership for 4 cameras. One stopped working. I can only connect to ONE of the other 3 for live stream. Constantly throwing cannot connect error -35 which I can't find online. Won't zoom, lags badly, delays and freezes. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, all the things, and nothing works the service over time is just declining. Why?There's no reason a company, now this large, should have these kind of issues with simple cameras. Idk but I feel like I've wasted so much money.
ive had my inside and outside camera for about a year now. everything was working fine. all of the sudden the motion detection just stopped alerting. I have unplugged it, reconnected it to the WiFi, etc. it still will not alert me. what good is a front door camera if it doesn't let you know of potential dangers? I have emailed them about this and never get a response! I don't recommend buying! we are looking for a different brand now.
