Reviews for RSA Authenticator (SecurID)

Ben Morgan-Smith

This app has always worked perfectly well, but since the last update I now have about a dozen additional clicks to do the same thing I did before. I am forced to use this app every single day, so it really needs to have some default settings built in. First: set a default key and automatically activate the text box so it opens my keyboard. Second: link my enter key to the Next button in the interface. How on Earth you released to Live without these simple usability features is beyond me.

have had 0 issues with anything so far. in fact I turned in my physical RSA token and an strictly using the app.

Good when it works, but when it doesn't it's hell. It could crash at any stage before generating an OTP. Memory leak issue? Not sure. It just crashed on me like 30 times but finally worked the final time. It seems to crash less if you use the PIN instead of the phone's biometric authentication, and if you shut off all other background apps

This new update drops the ball. The cursor doesn't automatically focus in the PIN field, and then when the PIN is typed you can't press the enter key on the on-screen keyboard to submit it. Do you test your software? The desktop app is as bad. While typing the passcode, focus is lost by the notification that says it's connected to WiFi. Every day I have to deal with this

Lathargic App. Takes ages to load. Keeps loading, you have to wait for good 10 seconds to put the code in

Changed the interface with no notice, a terrible decision for a security company. Our organisation spends a lot of time and money educating users to be wary of unannounced changes and then this happens. A definite step backwards. Why doesn't pressing done on the on-screen keyboard enter my pin. Why do I have to put my glasses on to navigate the tiny fonts to find the submit option?

Used as intended. For those with complaints, check with your company first. They're the ones implementing whatever restriction they feel is needed in the use of the app.

Me gone mad1 –

has some jarring useability annoyances, stuff like restricting pasting in the pin code from my password vault or the fact it provides no feedback to the user that the pin entered is incorrect. This means people with dyslexia or dyscalculia find this process more frustrating than it needs to be. my suggestion would be to add a coloured square that's hue is based on the hash of the pin entered. this way the pin isn't exposed or saved but the user has a visual cue if the pin is wrong.

This app 'does what it says on the tin'. Two areas for improvement: 1: Copy / paste of the generated code doesn't seem to be possible any more. This is inconvenient. 2: Can you please stop changing the name of the app? I've lost track of the number of names it's had at this stage. Authenticator, SecurID, Token are a couple that come to mind immediately. Constantly changing the app name makes it hard to find in the Android apps list.

Would love to have the app be capable of rotating the screen. When I put my Samsung Fold on it's stand, the screen won't rotate and is fixed to only show portrait mode.
