This app has always worked perfectly well, but since the last update I now have about a dozen additional clicks to do the same thing I did before. I am forced to use this app every single day, so it really needs to have some default settings built in. First: set a default key and automatically activate the text box so it opens my keyboard. Second: link my enter key to the Next button in the interface. How on Earth you released to Live without these simple usability features is beyond me.
Reviews for RSA Authenticator (SecurID)
← Back to RSA Authenticator (SecurID)have had 0 issues with anything so far. in fact I turned in my physical RSA token and an strictly using the app.
Good when it works, but when it doesn't it's hell. It could crash at any stage before generating an OTP. Memory leak issue? Not sure. It just crashed on me like 30 times but finally worked the final time. It seems to crash less if you use the PIN instead of the phone's biometric authentication, and if you shut off all other background apps
This new update drops the ball. The cursor doesn't automatically focus in the PIN field, and then when the PIN is typed you can't press the enter key on the on-screen keyboard to submit it. Do you test your software? The desktop app is as bad. While typing the passcode, focus is lost by the notification that says it's connected to WiFi. Every day I have to deal with this
Lathargic App. Takes ages to load. Keeps loading, you have to wait for good 10 seconds to put the code in
Changed the interface with no notice, a terrible decision for a security company. Our organisation spends a lot of time and money educating users to be wary of unannounced changes and then this happens. A definite step backwards. Why doesn't pressing done on the on-screen keyboard enter my pin. Why do I have to put my glasses on to navigate the tiny fonts to find the submit option?
Used as intended. For those with complaints, check with your company first. They're the ones implementing whatever restriction they feel is needed in the use of the app.
has some jarring useability annoyances, stuff like restricting pasting in the pin code from my password vault or the fact it provides no feedback to the user that the pin entered is incorrect. This means people with dyslexia or dyscalculia find this process more frustrating than it needs to be. my suggestion would be to add a coloured square that's hue is based on the hash of the pin entered. this way the pin isn't exposed or saved but the user has a visual cue if the pin is wrong.
This app 'does what it says on the tin'. Two areas for improvement: 1: Copy / paste of the generated code doesn't seem to be possible any more. This is inconvenient. 2: Can you please stop changing the name of the app? I've lost track of the number of names it's had at this stage. Authenticator, SecurID, Token are a couple that come to mind immediately. Constantly changing the app name makes it hard to find in the Android apps list.
Would love to have the app be capable of rotating the screen. When I put my Samsung Fold on it's stand, the screen won't rotate and is fixed to only show portrait mode.
A recent update of the app has led to it becoming significantly slower to load and become usable after opening it. This might not sound like a big deal, but it's very annoying.
The app works just fine for what I need it for. However, the last update, which changed to a new UI wasn't a great change. It's blocky looking now and the timer is a little harder to read. The previous UI was much smoother looking. Definitely needs some improvement! It otherwise would probably be 5 stars.
It's gotten better over time - read some of the reviews from a couple of years ago for the horror stories we had. I have been receiving notifications which open to the app so I can select the correct code on my screen (unfortunately it seems my employer requires this every time you do anything so this makes a solid 15 mins of my day every day). I wish there was a WearOS version for my watch so I didn't have to unlock my phone each time.
Still not working on Android 10. As others have mentioned, the app always displays an error message about deactivating airplane mode and restarting the phone. I'm sure it will get updated at some point, but who knows when? My company has begun evaluating other services as this has affected a large portion of our 1200+ employees, and a 'security' app that doesn't push regular updates always raises red flags.
I work in computer security. This app has always been cumbersome to use since it blanks its screen and makes you retype your PIN if you switch away from it to type it into the site requesting the information. --- However previously it was functional. Now it complains because my phone is rooted. Why should it ever care, its simply an algorithm generating a number based on a supplied key and the time. On the plus side I found another app named Easy Token: same algorithm and open-source.
First, I couldn't find the app - the icon is completely different. Next, it's VERY bright. I run my phone and PC in dark mode for a reason; give it back. The numbers are smaller and difficult to read. Finally, nothing changes colors anymore! Before, my PIN changed colors so I knew to wait for the next one. Now, I get half of it entered and it changes on me! I can't see that little wheel. At least add settings so I can have dark mode and 10 second color change again!
For those with the error on startup that no data network was available 3g/4g, there is a very easy fix for this. Typically it is because a backup has restored data for the app and you just need to start from scratch and re-import your token. This is actually a good security feature so someone can't take your backup and get access to your data through this app. To reset the app so you can re-import your token, got to Settings -> Apps -> Token. Once looking in the Token app, it is probably a good idea to force stop it, then click on Storage. Clear Data and Clear Cache and you should be able to re-import the token. AGAIN, YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-IMPORT THE TOKEN SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT BEFORE CLEARING THE DATA.
I went to sign into a customer account and couldn't find my RSA app to get access. I was in panic mode! After about 10 minutes of looking for the app I figured it got deleted somehow and so went to the app store to download it again and then call corporate to set it up. That's when I figured out you guys changed the name and color of the app icon. Not funny at all! You suck! Given a choice I would delete you in a heartbeat on principle alone.
I think apps should have the same name on my phone that they have in the app store. I spent a while searching my phone for "RSA" or "SecurID" with no results only to finally find it called simply "Authenticator" like 3 other apps on my phone, and with a completely different logo than what was in the app store. It seems like coming up with different names and icons would take more effort, so why? Super annoying. Otherwise, the app works, but the design is very bare bones and basic.
it is infuriating that the devs labeled the app in a way that the android system can't find it by name when I search my apps/phone. logically, I should be able to search "rsa" and it comes up. but it doesn't, nor does it with "auth", "secur", "securid" or anything else I've tried. I have to either manually scroll through all of my apps or go back to the play store, search "rsa" from there, and open it from there.
