This is one of my most used apps. So easy to save and categorize recipes you find on the web. To save recipes, just share them to the app, that easy. When you are searching for saved recipes they're easy to find since the photos are displayed nicely. You can also search for recipes within the app. When viewing a recipe there are similar recipes suggested down below. It has a meal planner which allows you to create a shopping list as well but haven't found much use for that.
Reviews for Samsung Food: Meal Planner
I've been using this app since 2021. It was called whisk back then and the name changed wasn't necessary. (Whisk has a better ring to it) I love all the features. There have been some recent updates than have been mostly good but the one done in June of 2024 made some unnecessary changes makjng it more time consuming to view the meal plan and changes the focus from cooking to calorie counting. I shouldn't have to open a recipe, after opening that recipe, to see it! Needs more tweaks
I *love* this app! It's my #1 cooking app, I use it all the time! The layout is good, it's very easy to navigate. I can browse a mutitude of recipes for inspiration. You've got nutritional info. If there's a paywall, I haven't found it yet! My one quibble is that many, many times when I'm scrolling through instructions on the various websites, it keeps taking me back to the top every couple of seconds. Very frustrating! I've even had to just give up on some recipes because of this.
There doesn't seem to be a way to delete the "recipe" from your "plan." I tried to delete the data and cashe, but it still came back. So if you add another recipe it just add it to your meal. Like you're eating two or more meals for breakfast. 🙄 UPDATE: I FINALLY figured out how to delete a recipe. But the whole app is clunky and not usable. The concept is exciting, but there's TOO many cumbersome redundant steps to get from a recipe to a meal plan and then to a shopping list. Back to analog!
I downloaded this app to compare it to an existing app that changed how you can browse for recipes. I like that there are different ways to browse and that you can explore "communities". Recipes can also be easily edited. I definitely will use the lists to go grocery shopping. I would suggest a way to recategorize items. For example, I would want to move tomato paste to canned goods instead of condiments. I would love to calorie count off of the meal planner and sync to health.
This app was ruined the moment you revamped it from "Whisk" to "Samsung Food". It went from a 5 star, most used app by me, to me throwing it in the trash and mourning my loss of one of the best apps ever. I checked back a year later to only see it's gotten even worse. Creating a recipe from scratch or a website is a nightmare, definitely not straightforward by any means. Any form of organization and anything that matters is out the window. Also, the new name is TRASH. Don't waste your time.
ive had this app for YEARS. then after samsung bought it, they have completely ruined it. It was simple, straight forward and had what you needed for planning, shopping and recipes. now they added folder after folder. you have click into multiple folders to find shopping list, or find the meals you've added to your weekly plan. some of my recipes have disappeared, it is highly over complicated and none of the things they've added are useful. new design sucks and there's lots of adds now
Love this app!! We love trying new cuisines, and this app is perfect for that. You can search recipes based on cuisine, diet, meal type, and more; you can curate your "home feed" based on diet & household members; you can adjust output quantity; it has a shopping list that is easy to use and sorts items for you; it has a planner for you to keep track of when and what you cook; there's a community aspect to connect with others; and there's always something new to find. Can't recommend enough!!
CONS: 1 - Must have an account to VIEW the app. 2 - You can deselect, but people & sites are immediately added to your acct. 3 - $60 per year 4 - Free can save only 3? recipes. 5 - Way too social. 6 - Must PAY for BASIC features. 7 - Too in your face. Pros: 1 - There are recipes. 2 - You can organize recipes. 3 - I think you can create shopping lists.
Loved the app until a recent update removed the ability to add the links to the meal recipes at the top of the shopping list. The only apparent way to see whether the item on the shopping list is part of a recipe is to uncheck any checked items and then select them individually. Why can't I just use the link to the recipe when it's time to make it from my shopping list? I don't always make the exact meal on a specific day so I don't use the meal prep function.
