Was the best. WAS. Now it's showing advertisements. Hell no. I didn't spend 1500 on a device to have to see advertising on a stock application. Samsung, you've pissed off a lot of people, and lost a few over it. Myself included. Since the original Note, I've been a fan, but I draw the line here. No more Sammy products for me. Now I'm half expecting my fridge to start showing ads. Hard pass, thanks but no thanks.
Reviews for Samsung Music
← Back to Samsung MusicI would have never thought that I would leave a review on an actual Samsung app - maybe a 3rd party app, but not one that comes pre-installed on a flagship phone (S9+). The recent update now contains ADS on your track listing amidst your songs, which is disgusting. I'd expect that from some free game you install to pass the time, but not on Samsung Music. For one of the top manufactures that charges $1,000+ for a device, I'd expect a bit more class. Horrible decision. Samsung sucks for this one.
The adds are pretty annoying and there is a tiny add for other things where you pay for. Most of us arent interested in that because this is basically a mp3 player if we wanted to listen to other things we'd already have spotify or something. Every 7 days or so you gotta close the application that opens up showing another stream service and it's annoying.
I wish I hadn't downloaded the new update. I like this app, but they just made it harder to use with the new update. I can no longer tap the letters in the library, can only drag. And they got rid of the button to change album artwork from the album. I have to go into every individual song now and put it in, which wastes more time. I really wish there was also a way where I could modify the info for multiple tracks at once, because putting it individually takes a long time. Just my 2 cents.
So far so good. My only complaint is that it doesn't let you see the songs that are coming up. I like to just hit random but I need to see if the next songs are in the vein that I'm wanting to hear. I don't want to be listening to mellow tunes & then suddenly get blasted with Rob Zombie, whom I love but not when I'm in a mellow mood. Give us a way to delete songs from the upcoming random playlist.
Suddenly won't play some of my songs. Says failed to play. I tried using a couple other apps that also won't play the same tracks. I have owned this music for years. Thousands of songs because I don't like to pay monthly for a subscription somewhere I would rather just purchase the songs. Now I am on a hunt to find a different music player. So frustrating.
I liked this program initially, like other reviewers, but with the pop up ads that you can opt to skip only for 7 days closed the curtain on it. Since I have an expensive phone, you would think this program could continue to be not pop up ads. Disgusted. As soon as i transfer my play lists I'll be deleting it. Oh, and you can't move playlists either, even to another phone same program. So that always sucked.
Yet again Samsung introduces bugs to perfectly working apps for absolutely no reason. Pause a 5 hour track, and when you resume it will start over with no way to know where you left off. Hopefully too many people don't go flying off the highway as they struggle to work around these bugs to the most very bssic thing of pausing a track. It's like Samsung wants you distracted if you listen to music while you drive.
I really like this app but I am upset about one thing. In one of the last updates there was a change to the background color. It is now white with splotches of colors, that don't even relate to the album cover, or you can change it to dark mode and have it be solid black. I loved the previous version where the background color would change to match colors of the album to the song I was listening to. Please bring that back! That was what made me fall in love with the app in the first place.
I use this app for all my music all the time. But when I use it within Android auto, there's a "queue" function that used to let you see what song you were currently on and a list of the ones before and after in that play list. Now the queue just goes to the beginning of the play list. When your play list is longer, it makes the queue function pointless. It USED to be easy to look at current song and the next/previous few. Now not so much. 5 stars if it's fixed for sure.
Been using Samsung music for years. Recently within the last year or so, sound only plays on the left earbud. Every other app I use, I have no problem, Netflix, YouTube, Firefox, everything is fine. But as soon as I open Samsung Music, the right earbud stops working. If another application makes my earbud make a sound while the music is playing, like messenger, the right earbud will work for the rest of that song, but then stops working as soon as the next song plays. Very frustrating.
Love Samsung Music! I love the fact that I can listen to music without having to connect to the internet and having to watch ads (provided you listen to only mp3's). Samsung, if you're reading this, one suggestion I would like to see implemented in the future is a better and more precise control of crossfading. Instead of just seconds, we should be able to do milliseconds, too. Please consider this as a better option for smooth song transitions!
It's a solid app. No ads or major issues from my experience. I love that it tells you the most listened tracks, artists and albums. Would love to see It give more stars. I would rate it a 5/5 if it had some more features. Here are some recommendations: - Search for tracks/artists within a Playlist - Allow us to add a track to more than 1 Playlist at a time. - Better Playlist organization like folders - More visual costumization of interface. - Mata data edits. Don't abandon this app!
Useless. All I wanted was to change my default alarm sound instead of having to manually change every single blasted alarm separately. Reddit said download this. Okay. Only one song in the library. Okay. Try to add more. Must download Spotify. Okay, even though I dont use it but I'll download it. Try to select song in the music app again. Opens Spotify. Click the three dots on the top because maybe it has the option there too like this app. No. Useless. Waste of time. 0 stars tbh.
Samsung music is a basic player. it does the job without craming ads down your throat. I literally have never seen an ad since iv started using it years ago. I do wish that it would auto scroll when viewing lyrics while a song is playing. other than that its solid player. I have tried looking for a replacement. but others hit you up with ads or they have features i just don't need.
Why do I have to refresh the random setting every time to get actual random songs consistently instead of the same "random" songs in the same order? The app also no longer automatically opens and plays after connecting to a bluetooth device, making me have to pull out my phone and open the app manually while driving sometimes. Pretty useless app now when it just needed to be a basic music player. Corporate greed at its finest.
Works fine as a basic music player, but just barely. My biggest gripe is with the "random" function. A polished player will either generally create a randomized playlist from the one you selected (ie if you select random play on an album, each song will be placed in a random order and it will use that random playlist) but samsung music instead creates both a random playlist and then randomly jumps around that list... and it doesnt even queue properly.
I don't care about Album art displayed. I just listen to the music in Playlists. I have them sorted by artists, music groups, years, decades, and more. Easy app to create Playlists in and are easy-to-use. What I have is a continuing problem, an intermittent garbled sound between songs. It comes and goes. Otherwise, what more can you ask for?
Sometimes it doesn't work very well. Bare with me, my issues are kind of specific- in the Artists tab, I can no longer select a letter on the side to skip to that place in the artist list. A couple of my albums are inaccessible throught the albums tab, but can be located via recently added or by artist. Any albums with strange fonts or symbols all show up as "???" and it doesn't look very pleasing in the app, and finally sometimes it doesn't remember where I was paused in a song. Edit: got worse
4/25/25: Had to decrease it to one star. I just got a new device & the app hasn't acted right ever since. It continually skips songs with the error msg "failed to play track", sometimes it'll play another song right after & sometimes it won't. I'm not happy about it. Plus, I just learned playlists can only have 1000 songs! Not enough for real music lovers like myself. Very disappointing!
