Very good app and very functional to transfer data from one samsung to other. The only & biggest issue is with WhatsApp transfer or migration. This app fails to properly transfer the whatsapp data (specially media). I had to go back to traditional whatsapp backup to cloud and restore. Additionally, had to first delete the incomplete or erroneous transfer via this app and then proceed with the google cloud. If this issue is resolved, it's a 5 star app.
Reviews for Samsung Smart Switch Mobile
← Back to Samsung Smart Switch MobileInitially it was so annoying, and I was unable to transfer my data from S10 to S25+. The app was never run on S10 and it was kept saying "Reinstall Smart Switch from App store" - Whilst Samsung call it Playstore but the error keeps coming up and saying "Appstore", and it was not allowing me to open the app at all. Now, issue resolved and transfer successful after following Samsung recommendations in response to my review. Appreciate prompt response Samsung, rating revised. Thanks for help
What a Fiasco, who wrote this 💩tty program?#1 it doesn't give you updates to tell you what's going on during the transfer. GEN Z Programming at its FINEST.. Gets to a certain point, and doesn't prompt you anymore, so you think that the phone is not progressing. ALSO #3 Didn't transfer all the Apps loaded, so I have to manually reload them from the play store, which I hate going to. couldn't return my warranty phone till today. like 2 full weeks been messing with it... 🤬😡
This app was good. Pretty much one tap and I was able to transfer all the data from the SD card of my old Samsung Galaxy A25 to my new S24, photos, contacts etc. even ALL the apps I sideloaded. It also transferred my old device's folders, home screen layout, wallpapers, basically EVERYTHING. It's probably faster to transfer it via USB cable than wifi, but either way it gets the job done.
Failed to release or conflicted with Android Switch, causing 4 days worth of crashes. Tip: Do this with cable, not wireless. If your old phone has much on it, wireless takes a long time and you'll end up with two apps & two phones fighting it out. I locked up twice en route home.
Terrible app. I had to set up two different Samsung phones this Christmas and it has been a nightmare. The first phone I eventually managed (after trying several times using both, the wifi and the cable option) to set up and transfer all the data from my Xiaomi. The second phone is a Samsung but can't use the cable given that they have different connections. The wifi option doesn't seem to be working despite both phones are on the same wifi network and they are next to each other.
works well when the new device is a Samsung. However it appears to be no good if you're switching from Samsung to something else. *Edit Well, my s23 ultra experience has been absolutely awful. The least reliable device I have ever owned, comparing that to a 10-year-old Motorola which is performing about equally, as they're both barely able to handle the McDonald's app. and it is outshined easily by my S20FE 5g for reliability. so I am happy to get rid of it even if it's less easy than necessary
Not optimal or time saving. You would think Samsung could do better with this app. Transferring the data from one phone to the other sounds good in theory, but if all of the former preferences, passwords, messages don't go over, it's useless. I have spent three days resetting all of my notification sounds, text messages which took 3 attempts and re-signing in to all of my apps which meant looking up all of the passwords. I might have been just better off reinstalling everything on my own.
Samsung Switch is awesome! I've had a new Samsung for a while but have had a deep fear of the change. Had so much on my old phone that I didn't want to lose. Finally decided to bite the bullet after reading about this app, although I was very skeptical. Oh my!! I used the WiFi option. It did take a little over an hour but when I opened the new phone....IT LOOKED JUST LIKE THE OLD ONE!! All my apps, pics, games; etc...were not only there but in the same place. Just awesome!!
IF YOU LOVE BEING HACKED ON A REGULAR BASIS, THIS IS THE APP FOR YOU. Yes, you need a cable, so the tech challenges me. Yes, but what about all of that data that smart switch stores. I believe it's the whole shebang, right. I have been hacked several times, and they usually use Yahoo mail to get it, according to my Google account activity. After that, they usually go right into developer settings, tweak a few things, and then get into the app data of yours truly "Smart Switch," passwords, yum 😋
Constantly losing connection! I've used the app with a transfer cable and over wifi. In the wifi mode it won't connect the phones half of the time and just gets stuck in searching mode. Once the phones recognize each other (wired or wireless) they will transfer about 30-50% of the data and then get stuck. If you leave it for a while you get an error saying that the connection was lost and the phones can't see each other. Really frustrating!
I purchased a new Samsung device for the holidays. My previous tablet had zero problems transferring my data. Unfortunately, that is NOT the case this time. I follow all the prompts, but for some reason, the wireless transfer gets to 5.4% before saying the connection is lost. I have tried numerous times with no success. HOW does the connection keep getting dropped when the devices are literally right next to each other?! Samsung has been losing cool points lately!
Absolutely useless. I have wasted a hour installing and reinstalling and trying to get it to work transferring from a recent Galaxy to a brand new Galaxy, again and again and again, and it literally fails every single time in one of several different ways. Sometimes it won't connect at all. Sometimes the app will just shut off and disappear, sometimes it will connect briefly then crash. Worthless.
This app did not copy from phone to phone. It was supposed to copy one Android to another Android it did not work. There was a whole lot of telling me the phones had to be charged to a certain percentage also, they gave you the option to connect via cables or wireless. I did not have the cables so I used wireless (which is WiFi) it constantly told me that it could not connect even though both phones were connected to the same WiFi. This was a total headache I do not recommend.
I really wish there was a pause function. I spent my morning trying to do a corded transfer and it was in the last few minutes when the battery in one phone ran out. (I don't have a cordless charger.) I wish it just saved as it went, and then since you don't transfer duplicates, if someone has to stop for any reason, they can just end it, retaining what's been transferred so far, and start a new sync to transfer any remaining stuff they couldn't before.
Pretty good, but lacks a critical feature. I had no problem connecting via cable, and it was easy enough to transfer contacts, call history, and messages. I was able to pretty much duplicate my old phone, and that is where my major criticism comes. I want to transfer a few of my apps to the new phone, not all of them. If there is an option, it isn't very obvious. My new phone has enough bloatware, I don't want to bog it down with all my old seldom used apps too.
Pros: Was able to restore all my files, settings, and most of my app data. Cons: Requires you to allow the connection on your old phone, which is difficult to do when your old phone is busted. And if you don't allow the connection fast enough, it will give you an error and make you start over. Some of my app data was still missing. I used the wireless option as I could not get the USB option to work at all.
I'm confused. It seems like I can't use some of the normal Google data restore functions like restoring my messages, without using this app. It's never been a problem on other devices. I like the Google solution. Not sure why I would want to put all my messages into a third party app to get them from one android device to another.
Edit: yes, obviously I used the app with a Galaxy device on the receiving end. I definitely would not use it to transfer to another device. -- Despite the name, not very smart. It fumbles a lot and makes you do things repeatedly for no apparent reason. then best of all, it just completely fails to install apps and transfer data. They really should just use the transfer function that's built into Android. it works much better.
Could not transfer anything, contacts, messages, alot of very important docs from my other phone. I even tried using my PC, tablet, smart TV with the HDMI Cord and a few other ways. my problem is that the cell screen is completely black but it flickers when I plug it up. sometimes I can see a section of the old screen... everything else works. I just can't see which buttons I'm pushing or what's being asked...would or is there possibly anyone that may have advice or what to do??!! Thank you 😊
