Reviews for Scanner Radio - Police Scanner

← Back to Scanner Radio - Police Scanner

Lots of scanners to choose from. Good variety. Kind of a lot of static but I guess that's not possible to avoid. Another minor complaint is that sometimes a scanner is misidentified. For example it will say it's a railroad scanner but it's actually police and fire. Not too many ads. Sometims there will be one annoying one. All in all interesting and enjoyable to listen to!

When you first open this app, it comes up with a page with a 3 day free trial, then $29.99/yr. There is no apparent way to decline this offer. My 12 yr old son clicked accept, since he couldn't figure out how to get around it. We got charged the $29.99. I immediately canceled it, but was informed that there was no refunds. Super sneaky way to make a buck!

This app is the best one. It's free and the ads are not intrusive. It gives me all the channels I need and want. Once I tuned in to a Puerto Rico channel and it was up and running and sounded clear & smooth. The biggest bonus for me was getting the NOAA weather radio!! I bought two of the little walkie talkie looking radios this year and they were garbage. So I'm very happy with this app! Great job!

The best app for listening to scanners nationwide, and in almost real time.for premium membership which is affordable, you can download feeds, but for FREE you can boost the volume and mess with the frequencies for each channel, so that you don't miss anything - even when the preset frequencies are a little off. I love this app, it plays over Bluetooth, doesn't need constant updates and doesn't take too much data!

Good app and all except for the massive increase in subscription. Last year I paid $3.99 a month, now it's $24.00. Maybe I missed something, but damn... Besides the excessive inflation increase, it's a great app, tested it against a real scanner, it's in real time, maybe a couple seconds if that behind. It allows me to know what is happening when I hear sirens and see cops flying out of town... I do appreciate having that knowledge instantly on my phone anywhere I'm at...

It's great when a feed is working. But when the feed you listen to has been down for a week and half now, there is NO support to get a feed fixed. Emailing feed, reporting it, and contacting Broadcastify has done nothing to fix a feed that says it broadcasts an area when it does not. Very frustrating. Plus the feed is down for days each month. Description on feed says enjoy, well not enjoying.

It's always been awesome. Unfortunately, from time to time, the operators who are providing these feeds have equipment failure, or they can no longer afford to maintain their connection to the app (which can be for any number of reasons), so you loose access to listen into that city or county connections. I say this as a friendly reminder, of your favorite connection is cut off, politely let the Admins know of the issue, and go find another station. Beyond that. I love this app.

The ads are ridiculous. This is my first time installing the app in maybe 5 years, and the ads have become so intrusive and annoying that it makes it hard to use. Full page ads that you click on if you try swiping back. There's also a full page ad for their subscription that pops up every time you open the app, with a tiny little x hidden up in the corner. I almost immediately uninstalled it. Trying to get people to buy your app by irritating the free users isn't the way to do it.

I don't use this app much. Pretty much used it when there was severe weather in the area to listen to the storm spotters. So, I did mind the banner adds. However, when I closed the app the other night after some bad weather and it splashed up a full screen add, and I couldn't close it. That was too much. I don't like the app that much, uninstalled.

I've been using this app for a long time. I guess they're AD money isn't enough, greed got the best of them and now charging a fee. Wish there was a counter on here to see how many uninstall this app (edit. No I updated the app and it prompted me to use the free 3 day trial and after the 3 day trial was up i would be charged a monthy fee and had to enter my credit card info to continue. This is review was posted right after that.)

Best scanner app there is. Feed providers aren't always around or can sometimes be unaware of feed problems. They can't monitor their feeds 24 -7, as they have lives too. I just take what I can get when I can, but once those feeds are streaming, there is no other app that compares to this one! It's easy to use, comes in loud and clear and even has an equalizer to adjust the sound to your liking. This is even on an old cheap $39.00 spare peice of junk Android linked to my WiFi.

It works fine, the ads aren't even that bad. I may get one full screen ad per 24hr period of using the app, which isn't as bad as some make the ad experience out to be. I personally opted for the paid version to support the developers since this is an app I've used the free version of for about five years. If you don't like the ads then pay 2.99 once and you won't see them anymore. Otherwise enjoy your free app and don't complain.

An otherwise great app, ruined by ads. When I open the app it frequently begins an endless loop of full screen ads with no way to "x" out. A forced stop is the only way to end it, and by the time I get the app working I have missed whatever I wanted to listen to. It makes the app extremely frustrating, plus there is no chance I will buy a product or service from those advertisers. Seems like a lose-lose setup.

Annoying since you added the ads in it. This app used to be the best scanner. But now you guys put ads in it. The ads would be fine if they didn't interrupt while listening! And the fact that you're forced to watch them for a specific amount of time is even more annoying! If you had the ads play when first opening the app then itd be fine. Or when first clicking a station, and when exiting that station. But they pop up in the middle of listening and that's an annoying as hell interruption!

This app used to be great. It is intuitive to use, to set favorite channels, search by locations, that's great. But all it does anymore is cut out and reconnect, frequently and for about 10 seconds each time. It doesn't sound like much, but you're usually listening to a scanner when something is happening, so suddenly you have these pockets of dead "reconnecting" air where you're missing everything being said. Easier to stream directly from the website.

*UPDATED 10/9/22* App continues shuts off for no reason even in great reception area, and ads are still an issue! Used to be great, now it's over ran with ad's! Scanner will kick in and in the middle of a broadcast, a damn ad will pop up killing the broadcast and you can't skip it! Also I've noticed is that the feed cuts in and out all the time, and it's NOT the provider!!! Thinking about going to another app till this one is fixed properly...

I love this app. I'm fine with the free version & while I appreciate that the ads only show when closing the app, omg! The ads hijack my phone for an unacceptable amount of time. It's always a game app ad and it hijacks my phone screen. Any attempt to get out of it just takes me to the play store to install. It takes forever for the x to close it to show up. I have to press the power button on my phone for the minimize icon to show then I can close the whole app that way. That's my only issue.

Although your listening to someone else's scanner, it works very well. I like how the UI is convenient for you to use. As for ads, only in the main interface screen is there a banner type ad. When you stop the feed, there is a full screen ad. But if you are just changing feeds, there is no full screen ad. Just don't hit the stop button and your fine.

I have had this app for several years and it used to be a great scanner app. Now, I don't get half of what I used to get. As a firefighter/EMT in a rural area, scanner apps are a big help when I don't have my portable with me. I used to get fire and EMS in my area, now it is just police, even though it say Fire, EMS, Police. Have to give this one up I am afraid.

Great app but 40 per year is ridiculous. Edit: developer is correct in their reply, but I WANT to support by paying for it. I'm just saying you're possibly losing money from customers (like me) who are willing to pay, but having a price point that high prices us out. Price at $25/yr. Is more reasonable. I doubt you're making more than 25/yr in ad revenue from me, could be wrong.
